Why did the stewards let them have a drum? Should stop this now as every song they sung was with that bloody noise, they were noisy though but it was that drum that was instrumental in that. . They was not that noisy fella

Good debate here. And a surprising one. Because we're talking fine lines at this point in the season when, by rights, we might be arguing one way or t'other about whether Pep was any good or not.
I genuinely thought we would struggle with the 'churn' and for Pep to lay the foundations. But, whisper it, we are doing very well consdering the upheaval.
The question is: what if there is more to come from this team?
If you subscribe to the view that Pep needed time and that the team shouldn't be judged until, say late October, which respected posters like Highlights suggested I think, then we are ahead of schedule because of the goals we are scoring, the chances we are creating and, most importantly, the style of play.
The areas where we can improve seem to be showing a bit more nous when leading. Or doing the dirty, brubby sides of the game. And, perhaps most importantly, signing that striker who can play up top on his own. Anyone who says that we are that player short of promotion is absolutely bang on. Spend some of the money in January if our form has held up and we should make the play-offs...
...unless, oddly, the Pep revolution goes off the rails. But I can't see that. We should have been much slower starters than this. At the moment, the guy is producing better football than Mapp and more tactical nous.

Well, we are not a 'top team' and no-one sensible is saying that we are. We are a work in progress still trying to find the best 11, the best 16, the best formations etc. As are a lot of the other better teams in this league. But one cannot be gloomy about 8th place after seven games unless one had tipped OUFC to walk the league (which you very much did not). If we can be in touch with the top 6 after ten games then that is very much 'job done' for August and September, given the upheavals on all fronts. I said after Scunny that I thought we were a top 6 side, maybe even a top 2 side, just lacking a convincing frontman. I think I'd still stand by that. Neither Thomas not Obika are poor playets by any stretch if the imagination. But when you think about our promotions (almost any clubs promotions) they come with a really good focal point. Beano in the conference; Hylton and Roofs in League 2; Moods in League 1; Biggins in League 1; Aldo and Hamilton in the Championship. It's not just about goals, but an indefinable talismanic presence. And I don't quite see that in Wes or Obika. But.... still..... early days and you'd have to give it at least seven out of ten thus far. One other thing I would say is that this looks like being a very competitive top 10 this year. There must be at least that number of clubs spending north of 3 million quid on wages. And then there are a heap spending 2 million or less. It could end up being quite uneven, with well north of 70 points needed for play-off. 21 goals in 9 games and you witter on about lack of 'undefinable talismanic presence' up front. How many goals will satisfy you ? 40? Charlie's right Tim, itvwill be the lack if a tallismatic striker that we're missing. Even the guy Bradford brought on would be a start in terms of fitness and energy. Just wish Thomas had Obika's energy, strength and athleticism or Obkika had Thomas' footballing brain/experience.

If you're able to take a step back while watching us play, it's clear that the players have worked very, very hard on the training pitch and bought in to what Pep wants. Players are more or less seamlessly covering each other when someone else attacks or covers another area. We did that under MAPP, but it's gone to a different level under Pep. We need to be a lot more consistent in games, and that will come as the team and formation settles down. We can be more consistent as well. Let's see how it falls when we've played 10 more games

Going to add my two penny worth.
Horrible night wet and very windy a credit to the fans that turned up and a special mention to the Bradford faithful for their long journey ( just wish they had left their non rhythmic drummer back home he was awful .
On to the game first of all in the conditions the game was played in it was terrific game of football a great advert for football in the lower leagues doubt it will get a mention on the various footy programmes as Oxford we're playing.
Patrick's goal was reminiscent of Chris Maguires goal for us last season against Bradford the only difference Maguires was on the deck Patrick's was floated in a cracking goal nevertheless. Our first goal Wes Thomas picking up the rebound of their keeper after Gino's shot was what a striker should be doing. Our 2nd and fast becoming the player I know Rothwell can be was true workmanship, now hold on for 7/8 minutes....... But alas Vincelotti out jumped The Moose for the last action of a scintillating game.
A draw was a fair result best game I've seen for a long time us and them will be there at the end of the season.

And he is very, very, very clear that anyone who says that we are doing really well but may be a top League 1 striker short of automatic promotion is a thoroughgoing shit who wants OUFC to fail and who knows less than zero about the game. Can't say you haven't been warned. I reckon that was a good header from Vincelot - got up early above Mike Williamson and no foul for me. The problem was allowing the cross to come in and what a cross it was! As I said last night it was superb entertainment and you can seewhy Bradford have done so well in the past two years. They lose very few games and went unbeaten at home for the whole of last season. Blackburn ended the run with their win at Valley Parade. Can see how they won so easily at the Posh last weekend though. I think you make a good point about allowing the cross to come in. Gino clearly does not like tracking back and if had of done there would have been more pressure on the person crossing the ball. Its very difficult to stop crosses coming in though isn't it ? even the best fullbacks in the world only cut out, what 25- 30 % Max? If the opposing winger is contained by the fullback all they are going to do is drop back and whip the ball in as soon as they receive it as last night, or cut it back for the midfielder to do so.
Some coaches in teams with tall central defenders actually encourage the fullback to stay on his feet and let the winger get the ball over so that the backs can mop it up..The Manchester united team of the mid 90's was a perfect example of this, Parker and Irwin hardly ever blocked a thing all game, but May, Pallister and Bruce cleaned up.
Everyone seems to be lauding Mous's performance last night but it was only average imo...a classic case of a central defender trying to fill in at fullback and although he did as well as can be expected he should in fact have done better with both the Bradford goals, the first he was drawn between two forwards and a little bit guilty of getting dragged inside.. and the second he or Williamson should have done much better and attacked the ball but ended up getting in each others way.
I'm sorry but it has to be said, trying to find a position for Mous by making him full back was a mistake last night and we should have played Carroll on the right, Mous and Nelson just in front of Williamson and Ric at LB.
I know its a team game but you cant expect Van to track back past the midfield to try and cut out the cross, he should be occupying his defender.
What a great cross though even Englands greatest ever left back Ray Wilson wouldn't have cut that one out.
In The modern game 90's onwards and since the advent of the greats like Carlos, Junior, & Maldini the onus is on attacking fullbacks. I saw Carlos play for Fenerbahce when I was on holiday in Italy one year and he never made a single tackle. !

But you are indeed right that Childish Charlie knows virtually nothing about football and routinely embarrasses himself with his views. Just goes to show that rubbing shoulders with directors and the prawn sandwich brigade does not make you an expert.

Such a shame at such a great time for our club in this modern football world that is very hard to get something right.

Disagree it was Mousinho's fault for their goal.
Williamson definitely made the call, and seeing as they'd already run over each other once in the game, he let the CB challenge and Williamson lost it. You can see he's lying on the floor knowing he should have cleared it.

Funny how we all see games differently and through Yellow tinted spectacles most of the time. I didn't think Henry was that bad and I don't think Mous was that good at RB, to say he's quicker than Ribs is laughable. He would slot better into the right of a three man backline allowing Ribs or Carroll and Ric do play their attacking game. Mous was steady but he wasn't put under much pressure to be honest. and if he is good enough to still be playing championship football he would be doing so, so lets not get carried away.. I don't dislike him in fact I think he's a consummate professional and an excellent cover signing, but would much prefer to see Carroll be given a run in that berth while Ribs is out. Carroll will be disappointed after his showing Saturday where he was better than Mous was tonight. As for GVK well the jury is still out for me... could he be just a 20 minute impact player.? although he still looks a bit rusty I thought Hall and Rothwell were both excellent. Fair play to Bradford they certainly came with a plan and it almost bore fruit. They will be delighted with a point, and although its disappointing to concede in the last minute its no different to doing so in the first. Defensively to a man we should have done much better in the final 10, especially when being 2 -1 down an away team travelling from up t'north have nowt to lose. I might be one of the few but wasn't a penalty clear cut for me if it had been given against us I would be very disappointed, and although its a much used cliché a share of the spoils was probably a fair result. All in all a great game and advertisement for lower league football. If I had to watch that each week I would be delighted. Bradford were a strong well organised side, as are the majority of sides in this division.. Top 6 material ? we shall see but I think you could perm any one from about 15. However the top 10 of the table is sorting its self out now even after only 7 games and its important not to let home points slip away so easily at any stage of the season, because there are one or two very good teams below us we have yet to play. Have to disagree regarding your comparison between Carroll & Mousinho. Carroll is a good prospect and I think he'll have a decent career, but at this stage Mousinho is the better player. It's all about opinions but to my mind Mousinho had a better game last night than Carroll did on Saturday, add to that we were playing much stronger opposition in Bradford as against a pretty poor Gillingham side.

Agree, I also so more from him in 90 mins at rb than I have from ribs so far

He's not right Sean. We are scoring plenty of goals. Look at the stats. E.g. 'inadequate ' Wes has already scored 3- in what, 5 starts? We matched a top 3 team yesterday. Forget 'talismanic' strikers, we are maybe watching a 'talismanic' OUFC squad this season. I am very encouraged. Yes it's early days, but why not dream ?

I think Millwall's top scorer scored 13 (don't quote me on that though). There are a huge amount variables in football, so I don't understand why some people seem keen to a apply a 'paint by numbers', one rule for all approach. I'd love a player to score 20+ a season for us, but having such a player isn't the only route to success. I'm also very encouraged by what I've seen so far this season and honestly feel there's more to come.

Like Art footballers ability is all very subjective of course but I like Ribena , he's an intelligent footballer and along with Henry, Obika and Hall much, much better to come I think.. Plenty good enough for an average Div. 1 team and I've noticed he never gives less than 100%
I've also noticed one or two have singled out both Henry and Ribeiro for criticism however well they play, whilst conversely eulogising about Ric and Payne when they haven't been that good.
Whether Ribs can stay sound for a whole season is another question of course ... Didn't cost us owt and I doubt his salary is much better than when with Exeter so that's a bonus too.
It was the same last season with a couple of others singled out for the armchair supporters acrimony.
I believe Ribs was nicknamed Marmite while at Exeter or Scunthorpe ...and that in a nutshell sums him up.

Yes I've been to all home games, including Cheltenham where he was dog shite. Nice to have my support questioned over an opinion though? Did u go to the playoff final or Forrest green away? Did u see Damien batt or purkiss play rb? Or ribs play against us for Exeter ? Nope cos u was a Leicester fan then weren't ya 😉im not singling him out or making him a scapegoat. I thought mous was quality last night, in a position he hasn't played for a number of years, in only his second game for his new club. I haven't seen riberio look as assured as that yet, often making simple 5 yard passes look difficult. He could quite Easily be the best right back we've ever had, until I see that I can't judge it. And for what it's worth I agree with silva, he gets a lot of praise, but also makes a few mistakes, specifically positionally. I think he leaves the winger in far to much space before reviving the ball. But he's clearly a good lb that's played at a higher level. Time will tell, but personally I don't think riberio will be here next season.

Had thought our first was definitely due to a GK error, but watching on the goal cam, he actually did really well stop it in the first place. Angle shows the deflection as well as the shape on it, I can't see how much blame could be placed on him

Butter only until it's dropping out the bottom 😍. But in all seriousness we will all have our own favourites and opinions on players. I'd like to think I give players more of a chance than some. I supported players like ruffles and Taylor when many were adamant they were rubbish. I don't think any of our current squad are poor players or can't do a job. I think a few have come up to a level that might be stretching their limits, martin and ribs. And a few are not looking their best as they are being asked to play a role they are not really suited to Thomas and Henry. I'll support them all while they are wearing the shirt, but will also give my honest opinion of their performances.

I think it also depends a lot on what sort of player the Manager wants to build his team around. I think all of the current squad are more than capable for this league I think Henry will surprise a few people.
I must admit I don't like Marmite either in fact I hate it ...its got to be butter and peanut butter, or stilton and branston pickle under the grill for me..
Been nice debating with you, have good evening.
BTW Purkiss did Ok at Walsall and Vale after leaving Oxford. I saw him play a couple of times for Walsall, ( My lad had trials there before signing for Brentford ) His profile not dissimilar to Ribeiro in many ways.
