Strange first half with neither team looking that sharp. 2nd half was all ours and I thought we played some cultured football. Now on to Tuesday and a really tough test, let's see as many U's as possible attending to get behind our lads! I'd agree with that. Both sides missed a sitter in the 1st half which they will rue much more. The wrong man of the match was picked and it should have been Joe Rothwell as he ran the 2nd half and dominated the midfield in the last 20 odd mins of the 1st half.

Great game today with players inter-changing, passing and moving. Felt very continental.
Just hope for the same on Tuesday and when the weather/pitches takes a turn for the worse.
Still don't rate Henry, too slow and complacent. Thinks he's got an age on the ball or when the ball's played into space.

Strange atmosphere in the first half, it all felt very flat which I think filtered down to the pitch (or was it vice versa?!) Then as soon as we got the first it was all over as a contest.
Not a bad performance from anyone. Henry actually won me over more today. He's never going to be a pacy winger but I think he's one of those team players where the team as a whole play better when he's around. Great performance also from Nelson, Hall, Ledson, Rico and Rothwell
Unfortunately Obika's effort from 7 yards in the first half will do nothing to end the debate on whether he's the answer up front but I actually thought, despite the miss, he had a great game.
Good three points now onto the championship 6 pointer on Tuesday 😉

I'm thinking that Joe Rothwell has got more to his game than John Lundstram.

My first impression of the game only the first half was the short roll outs from Clint to his defenders the defenders seemed to get caught by the opposition either by being closed down quickly or inviting the opposition to challenge when it may have been simpler to pass as soon as received, because there were some instances where they had to work bloody hard not get caught out and losing the ball, that was the only negative for the 1st half well the whole game actually. 2nd half what happened a big kick up the arse or what, we were completely in control ran the game scored 3 goals one top save from Clint. Lino North stand side missed a couple of balls out and challenges but other than that a good game a confidence booster for the Bradford game. Well done Oxford well done Pep.

Rothwell is in the final year of his contract so lets get a contract on the table for him and Nelson and Hall ASAP.

Has to be said on that performance, Gillingham are doomed. Players losing their rag, no real skill and sloppy in possession. Their number 33s attitude when Obika sells him in the build up for the first said a lot. Still there's a long way to go so who knows.
For as bad as they were, I thought we were excellent. Not sure I get the doom and gloom about the first half, both teams had a golden chance (ours more so then theirs) but we were on top and looked the better side throughout the game. Second half it was all over after 10 minutes and there were so many good performances. Also refreshing to see players shooting on sight.
Jack Payne's technical ability is far above League 1.

Bloody idiot with a flare again in the north stand. It will cost the club dearly. Has he got shitforbrains? Why do idiots continue to do this?? They know it's illegal but are continuing to expose the club to a possible fine/points loss. Have to say I think that the person responsible should be banned for rather a long time. No doubt, some deluded person will say it adds to the "atmosphere"

I hesitate to call them supporters because clearly they don't give a shit about the impact this could have on the club.

Agree with all of that. Also thought that Gillingham were one of the slowest teams I've ever seen at this level. Every time one of our players put their head down and ran at them, they left their opposite numbers for dust. Top half of League One is highly competitive - there would seem to be a bunch of genuinely good teams in the division (of which we're one). But there's some really poor teams as well down the bottom at the moment. 3-0 flattered Gillingham today.

Our 2nd goal, for a team playing so defensively, is shocking for them. I can see why their CB was so annoyed as no one tracked the runner.
I see their fans want Scally and Pennock out, and I cannot blame them. They looked shocking today. Makes me appreciate what a good job MAPP and Pep have done

Really enjoyable game to watch today and some very good performances. Thought our new man at centre back had an excellent debut and fitted in very well. All round team performance but man of the match for me was Joe Rothwell.

Perhaps it needs more 'awareness' messages from the club and local media, plus, individuals on social media?? If you look at the video there's one or two more 'mature' people stood near to where the flares were let off - laughing at the attempts to put them out by a steward. Might go against the grain, but maybe the culprits should be named and shamed by those who know them?

Whether people think it's good for atmosphere or not (let's not go there) it's illegal to set off flares/smoke bombs. That's the bottom line. I wish people would stop doing this - it could get our club in serious trouble.

Great team performance today, Nelson was immense, Rothwell run the show in midfield, Hall is full of confidence and it shows in his end product, Obika is getting better each game
Let's be honest Gillingham were woeful and their No 7 (Wagstaff) was absolutely shocking

To be fair I think we are trying to bore them to death. We seem to have been told. We need at least 15 sideways or backwards passes before a forward pass. Henry seems pretty poor don't know what he offers. Rothwell and lunny don't seem to play too well together and the beaks shooting is dangerous to the cars in the carpark. Defense is great though although they seem to participate in this pass across the back style of football. To be fair Payne has made a few good runs although a forward pass couldn't be made because of the previous sideways passes rule. Overall pretty poor lots of tappy tappy but no forwards thrust. Oh and shooting from distance has a very low probability of success (see the BBC's scoring predictor calculator they have this season online), I long for a decent cross which results in a shot from inside the penalty area. Lunny? 😂😂😂

How did Mowatt do when he came on today?[/. Enjoyed His debut. Liked His work rate and touch. I'll be keeping an eye on his progress. Think Gino should be on longer. He brings a lot of excitement to the game and I really like Rico!

It is worth noting that my comments about slow sideways play were not appropriate after half time as we were much more penetrating and forward passing second half. Second half we were awesome but lets also remember Gils were awful and haven't scored an away goal this season. Repeat of the second half against Bradford please!

Anyone who says obika is rubbish as he doesn't score enough. Watch today's game, key in every attack , 2 assists so far Thought Thomas looked good when he came on. Just wish Obika had Thomas footballing awareness, but he did have a good game apart of the miss!

His first touch isn't as good, and holding it up he seems to just back into the defender getting lower to the ground. If defenders took a step back rather than push forward he would just fall on his arse. I'd like to see him maybe in henrys position off of obika
