I think he will transfer list Hall, Hemmings, Martin and maybe even let Rothwell go, or there are the first four names on a super strong bench. Kelleher will be another Giles and never play. Think he has to start with Xemi but everyone who gets 5-10 games needs to be able to show consistency and that they are too good for L1 and can play at Championship level or I see Pep being pretty ruthless and getting rid, and hopefully getting a fee. Hard to know his ideal starting 11 though as suspect some are nowhere near match fit. I assume that you are thinking a little long term here? Martin is the only real back up to the 2 CB's who I assume will start. Rothwell has started both games to date and Hall was one of the better players on Tuesday. I would be surprised if any of those were transfer listed (maybe at Christmas or if one wants to leave) It sounds as if Pep has just abut got his squad sorted with the exception of trying to find 'good clubs' for Roberts, Napa, Stevens and the younger players. This could change of course if Johnson is sold ...

This is weird. I was in Trenčín 3 days ago and took a photo of their ground from the castle. I was intrigued by their weirdly impressive floodlights. Can I also point out that they only have 1 stand and 3 fence ends. Maybe our clubs need to merge. I would share the photo but can't seem to paste it in. Only just see this. Genuinely funny post.

Why so few games since his big money move in 2016?? Doesn't mention any injury, even when loaned out he only played 3 in 6 months Basically he was a failed signing who got binned out quickly and who they now want to shift off the wage bill and ideally get some money back for. But being a failure at slavia doesn't mean a failure in league 1. Will be interesting to see if he has pace, as we are struggling a bit for that at the moment, especially with Marvin either at left back or offski. Not a lot of games to judge him a failure, then when they loan him out he played even less

Xemi is the most exciting signing in terms of potential, and the Nose salve king probably has the most potential for profit. Xemi could be anything - an academy kid who isnt ready for L1 or a wonderkid at this level. If he is the wonderkid, the midfield looks strong. If hes not, it maybe looks a little light in terms of creativity. I think its better to start him in the first few games and assess. You dont want to find out half way through the season that your superstar has been warming the bench for weeks - my feeling is he will build the team not around one individual, rather than around the group of 4 or 5 experienced players he has brought in, who I think will play every week. Lego can protect Xemi and encourage him to take on men and generally play with a bit of flair. We will need him t be able to do that if Marv leaves. By playing Xemi in the early games Pep will soon know whether he has a rough or a polished diamond on his hands. He clearly has a black book of contacts.

I think the Cheltenham match showed how little pace we have in the side. At least in the final third of the pitch. It's a necessity at this level where League one defenders are generally scared by an attacker running at them. Hall CAN do so (he doesn't often enough), Johnson SHOULD but seems to have gone into his shell, and Payne is quick over the first 20 metres. We could certainly do with a couple of pacey front men. I'm hoping van Kessel fits the bill.

They don't but they do at our level. ) Going on what faz, actually said about loans last night 😱 Kelleher's loan is until January therefore I don't think we can recall him and play him ourselves. The Conference changed its transfer deadline to the end of March with no windows which effectively means they can do short term loans at any point up to that date. Alternatively they can do youth loans which is what I think will happen. That is my understanding based on what happened last year unless the rules have changed again.

I think the rules at conference level or below is that they can play for our Dev side as well as the team they are on loan to. And can be recalled at any point but if we do they can't be loaned out again in that window . Where as in football league they can be recalled outside of a transfer window only if both clubs agree

Well I succeeded in signing onto Slavia's discussion forum and asked them why the sentiments about GvK on their forum were so negative. I got two relatively detailed replies which said that he didn't play much for them but when he did he was a very poor crosser of the ball, he couldn't beat plays and he rarely helped the defence out. They said he was a tad better when playing up front - he was athletic, one noted, but should maybe try out a different sport. The only time he really shone was when he was playing for Trencin in the Slovak League. Slavia fans being Czech, they have a dim view of the Slovak League (not entirely without reason) but they think it is unlikely that he will make it here. He also had a relatively unsuccessful loan spell in Poland. The proposed purchase price is purely to recoup some of the money they spent on him in the first place. Obviously we have to wait and see but the overall sense I have from the Slavia Forum is one of huge relief that they have unloaded him. I don't like dissing players until we have seen them perform so this is merely conveying what others are saying.

He obviously speaks English well whereas I doubt he was as fluent in Czech. Many other things about UK/Oxfordshire that I think will make it easier to settle here than in eastern Europe.

It looks like we gazumped Fastav Zlin FC who were in negotiations for about a month as they needed a striker too..Slavia are currently top...and as a by the way Zlin also play in yellow and blue as do the ice hockey team..the Rams. Gino was also involved in the CONCACAF recently. All very intriguing so let's hope he can play some.

Yes interesting castle..the glam side of Cz/Slovak footy one stand grounds...just don't drive down a no entry area like I did and get an on the spot fine! Yeah, my brother in law drove towards one way traffic just outside the police station there. No fines though, just humourous for me to observe. I thought the castle was pretty good as was Slovakia overall. Just wish I'd bought a Trenčín FC top now

From reading through the various threads in the players section I seem to be getting the impression that Henry is already being written off as a first choice player by some when, on paper at least, he was probably one of our more impressive signings this summer considering the level he's played at. If so is it based on what people have seen from him in an Oxford shirt so far?

He's not a wide man, can't beat a man with pace or a trick (he is frightfully slow). He's obviously a tidy player, and technically quite good, but that's about it. Would perhaps suit the no10 role a bit better, but he's behind Payne and Rothwell in my opinion. Good player to bring on to help see out a game, but after seeing him at Oldham and his brief appearance against Cheltenham, I'd go with Hall every time on the right.

Have you seen what he has done in his career? I am simply amazed that players are being written off after a game or so. I thought that he had a good game at Oldham. He will get better. Regarding pace? It doesn't mean that he isn't a wide player. A Wolves supporter suggested that he hasn't a lot of pace but is an excellent crosser of the ball. Beckham had no pace ... I expect that Henry will be a really good player for us this season.

Hall has been great throughout pre-season and was our stand out player on Tuesday. He deserves to start over Henry at the moment.

Did anyone ever find out why Slavia fans hate him so much? Just watched the goal on Youtube and the video has 2 comments, both from their fans slagging him off, then typed his name on Twitter and similar stuff lol
