Could someone please post the current squad as it stands today, with all of the comings and goings, so that we all have a clearer picture of where we all stand. Many thanks

It's a decent squad, the best we've had for around 20 years. IMO Taylor/Macca let go with an eye on keeping the best players we've got and strengthening with top class League 1 players in the summer.

New contracts for Maguire and Eastwood are imperative. Wait until summer to decide on Sercombe and Dunkley.

Must tie Dunks contract up he and Nelson are rock solid together, and you can see they enjoy being together.
Lunny is another we need to sort him out along with Eastwood long term on all of them

He is forming a great partnership with Nelson and offers us a fantastic ariel presence. He is also shaping up to be a vocal leader. Eastwood is a must and i'm surprised his contract is up so soon? I think Sercs is well worth keeping and offers us versatility and energy.

JANUARY TRANSFER WINDOW: INS: - ST Antonio Martínez (Loan) - LW/ST/rw Conor McAleny (Loan) OUTS: - ST/lw Ryan Taylor (Free) - RW Alex MacDonald (Free) Many thanks. A solid 22 players, not counting youth, with 2 out until next season. Are any of the 4 youth mentioned, genuinely seen by Appleton as potential first teamers? I have seen 3 of the 4 in quite a few games, and would say categorically no. Roberts should have had his contract cancelled in the window, his chance has gone. The 3 are Conference south standard. It doesn't matter what I think though, Appleton picks the team, although none seemed to impress, even when playing at Conference south level.

We have to do whatever we can to keep Maguire, but I guess that we could all understand if he went to a club up North. Eastwood - surely we have an option on him? I am pretty sure that we have something to keep him to 2018.. A decent squad as somebody suggested with an awful lot of flexibility within it. I agree totally with MAPP that you need to gradually improve the squad/ team in order to improve. To me Taylor and MacDonald were the obvious ones to be the next out. Now? I would think that the right back position is the most obvious one that needs to be improved upon (maybe Ribeiro will be able to fill this?) Then in time maybe left back?

Yes, Jack Stevens and Canice Carroll. He has publcially talked about Canice Carroll having a lot of potential. From the City fans comments, Jack Stevens has impressed when he was on loan there. And with the suggestion that Benji could leave in this last window it would seem MApp obviously thinks Stevens is capable of 1st team football as he would (could still be) have been the main back up for Eastwood.

Don't forget we have Cundy & Giles both currently on loan to Conference clubs.
They may not be ready for League 1 football yet but both are obviously improving.

Are there any estimates when Long and Ribeiro may be available? Both played in the Whitecaps game so it's a question of how long it takes to return to fitness. We're in piece of string territory as laypeople but I'm guessing a month before they might be in a position to comfortably start.

Dunks, Eastwood etc would be far better re-signing, We have momentum and thats priceless. Everyone seems to forget we are going up so really, who would want to leave when they are part of a winning team. Far better than moving to a higher Championship club and not gelling and fading into obscurity. Eventually they get the dream move, aka Aldridge, Houghton, Hebberd but with this momentum and luck with injuries we are going up. Strong collective and similar in many ways to the Leicester story.

New improved contract offers for the essentials now, not when others wave them too at the end of season. Bonus/revised terms for promotion. 4 weeks pay as a signing on fee. Job done, assets protected against leaving for free.

Perhaps by the summer the stadium situation may be somewhat clearer, and our playing budget will be increased to allow us to bring in a superstar centre back to partner Nelson. As much as I do love Chey, he has been caught out more often than his defensive partner. Will he be happy to go from first choice to third choice?

Is anyone able to find the squad that MAPP started with when he first became our manager? Be interesting to see how different the squad is now, and how much he has improved us.

Looking at our current squad, I think it is fair to say we have come on leaps and bounds!! MAPP has continued to improve our squad in each position wherever and whenever he can. Looking at that squad list above I can't see any of them players getting into our reserve team, let alone the starting 11!!

Hmmm, don't think the above is exhaustive...for instance where are our CBs!?
This was the 2014-15 squad...some were added along the way, some were binned. What stands out is our turnaround and subsequent promotion came following MAPP's second transfer window activity (tbf he had no time during the first)
1 GK Ryan Clarke 2 DF Jonathan Meades 3 DF Tom Newey 3 DF Joe Skarz 4 DF Michael Raynes 4 DF Richard Brindley 5 DF Johnny Mullins 6 DF Jake Wright 7 MF Danny Rose 8 MF Junior Brown 9 FW Carlton Morris 10 FW Danny Hylton 11 MF Alfie Potter 11 MF Alex MacDonald 12 DF George Baldock 13 DF David Hunt 14 MF Josh Ruffels 15 FW Callum O'Dowda 16 DF Andrew Whing 17 DF Matt Bevans 18 GK George Long 18 GK Jamie Ashdown 19 MF Michael Collins 20 FW Giorgio Rasulo 21 GK Max Crocombe 22 MF Sam Long 23 FW Josh Shama 24 MF Josh Ashby 25 DF Joe Riley 25 FW Armand Gnanduillet 26 FW Wes Burns 27 FW Tyrone Barnett 27 FW Kyle Vassell 28 FW Alex Jakubiak 29 MF Brian Howard 29 MF Kemar Roofe 30 MF Sam Humphreys 31 FW James Roberts 32 MF Aidan Hawtin 33 DF Chey Dunkley 34 DF Tareiq Holmes-Dennis 36 FW John Campbell 39 FW Patrick Hoban 44 FW Will Hoskins

Agree we have improved the quality of players, developed a united squad feel, reduced the age of the squad and have a OUFC playing style - great to watch and gives us the capacity to play quality opposition (or crappy ones) off the park. However, I reckon Riley (on loan very quick right back we had pre-Baldock) would make the team today.
