An excellent read. Would be interested in reading something similar about our own emerging pros.

Why is the little news the fans are fed is loan this, loan that. As we've , lost players from a successful promotion team already with roofe, cod possibly leaving, the talk should be of these exciting "12" Appleton was talking about he had already spoken to, weeks ago. The mushroom scenario is beginning to surface towards fans.

The mushroom scenario is beginning to surface towards fans. Your doom and gloom posting is getting boring now. We've only lost one player we've offered a contract to and obviously Luton saw him as more important to their plans. There was always going to be speculation about COD, Roofe and Lundstram, it is called being successful. We're at a stage of the pre-season when contract negotiations take time and players/agents take their time to make a final decision especially as we will be competing for better players. I would far rather the club focus on getting get a player tied up and then announce it(however long it takes) instead of trying to satisfy your demand for rumour and speculation. MApp and the scouting team managed to spot Dunks, Sercombe, Lundstram, Roofe etc whilst attracting established players like Macca and Maguire. So try relaxing and enjoy the memory of last season's success whilst we see what the club does this pre-season.

I’d be happy to have Jonjoe Kenny back. What you want to see from a young player is improvement game upon game and I certainly felt Kenny did that in his spell here. We’ve all seen how young players like O’Dowda have developed since exiting his teenage years and I think Kenny would do the same.
We do fall into the Rob Hall/Lee Holmes/George Baldock trap again though. If Kenny ends up being a very effective loanee, there’s nothing stopping Everton recalling him for their own use or loaning him out to a Championship side. If we do have him in, make sure the terms are right. We have him for half a season with an option to extend, a whole season and an option to terminate the loan if circumstances change.
Being left in the lurch after losing a decent loanee isn’t fun.

The loan system is changing for the coming season with only half-season and full-season loans being allowed. I would assume that full-season loans can only be terminated in the January window, as per the current system.

I'm guessing, hoping I'm wrong, that if we're keeping tabs on Kenny then Baldock isn't coming? Or maybe he was the player who Mapp said wanted more?

Horseman is right - the situation hasn't changed. It's just something to put on the back of the OM as nothing of much interest on the player front is happening.
However, my flabber would be completely ghasted if we signed Baldock. He is first choice at MK and they won't want to let him go, especially to a potential rival. That being the case, I can see no real reason why we wouldn't want Kenny back. I thought he got better as he got more experience (who'da thunk it!), did a perfectly good job for us last season and is likely to improve yet again if he returns.

The deluded and optimistic amongst us might see this a decoy. Focus the attention on Jonjoe before shocking us with the signing of Baldock.

The deluded amongst us are still waiting for the Euro's to finish because our new signings are playing in them Given the new expanded format, that still might not make them all that impressive signings! At our level (or below), Fleetwood, Millwall, Notts County, Doncaster, MK Dons, Charlton & Gillingham all have players going to the tourney. MK Dons actually have two.

If we'd have to wait until towards the end of the transfer window, i'd hope we'd focus on getting someone else in, it's not worth the wait. Ideally you want your main transfers to be in before pre season friendlies have started.

I flicked it over and heard good skills by Kenny. Had to look it up as I was surprised he was playing. Glad he is getting some game time!

Shame about their result in his first start And he got an absolute pumping (together with Keane). Hope it doesn't dishearten him too much and he gets a fair crack under the new boss.

With Holgate competing with him and Coleman back from injury soon, I think it would be best for him to leave for a smaller club and get a starting place nailed down tbh

I thought he was decent for us, but Baldock was a lot better, the one who is in the championship is premier league quality whereas Kenny will probably end up in the championship.

I also thought he had a very good second half. Got forward well, but was it just me that thought he was often in a good position, but was not given the ball, particularly by Rooney?

The first half it seemed almost every ball when he was open they would choose the to play infield. As regards Rooney, when they have played together previously I always thought Rooney had made an effort to bring JJK into play- it did seem missing today but not just Rooney

He hugged the touchline nicely. Offer a good angle and KitKat. And with few options tucked back in and recycled. Was rarely given opportunity to put in a cross and had few people attacking the area. Made good choices. Everton look lost in the last third

Everton to go down is a decent bet, they are slow st the back and have nothing up top, plus having to play Rooney doesn't help.

Made up for JJK after his performance on Sunday. Many peoples man of the match and several Evertonians I've spoke with love his passion and commitment. Personally having seen him live for us and Everton and speaking with numerous Everton fans about him I kinda feel like a proud dad.. Decent write up here. www.evertonfc.com/news/2017/11/07/royle-proud-of-energetic-young-blues
