...can we keep New Zealand all summer? Two pulsating test matches followed by the best ODI series I can remember. What a start to the international cricket season.

Amen. Brilliant to watch. Watching us in ODI cricket has not only become bearable, but actually enjoyable!

It has been a wonderful series, truly.
Am enjoying this match too (for obvious reasons!)
I think the Ashes will be closer than some are worrying, but Australia will win 1-2 (possibly 1-3 or 2-2 if we continue with this enjoyable gung-ho style).

What a difference it makes with two teams playing hard honest cricket, without all the sledging and nonsense that the Aussies bring with them.
Where oh where has this England been hiding?

Australia might well sledge but they certainly play to win and Clarke has continued this tradition of positive cricket. Nice to see England doing so too.

Absolutely, but they take things past acceptable too many times. Australia find ways to be douche bags.

The Aussies deserved to demolish us. But I hope out fans don't forget what absolute wankers they were whilst they did it and give them hell from the boundary ropes. Their behavior was dreadful

That win to make it 2-2 ranks as one of my favourites - what a performance! (er, yesterday's win, I mean)

Got 2 tickets for the 1st day of the 2nd Test at Lords. Was dreading it a few months back but now relatively optimistic. How much is a pint there anyone know?.

Remember you can take a small amount of alcohol in per person at Lord's, make sure you do. Think it is 1 bottle of wine per person, or 3 large bottles of beer. Check your tickets.

I think that the Aussies will probably hammer us.
The cricket against New Zealand has been fantastic but the bowlers in the one day series have been poor. Australia have a big edge Johnson and Starc (plus pretty decent back up). If the weather is good I would go at least 3-1 to the Aussies or maybe even 3-0, 4-1. Unless Anderson and Broad find some old fire from somewhere and Moeen find last seasons rhythm.
Yes a pint is around £5 at Lords, but it is London Pride and a pretty decent pint.

If we can show the same batting aggression as the New Z's and Aussies, we're going to be in for a great (and successful?) series. Our bowling needs sharpening up though. I have every faith in Anderson and Broad. Can't bluddy wait, tbh!

My fear is that Anderson and Broad are coming in undercooked overs wise. I don't think they've bowled a single over since the last test match. That's a long time for two nowhere who are rhythm bowlers. Also Ali hasn't done much bowling. Personally I'd have gone for Rashid. A spinner who can turn it both ways is a very good bowler to have. He also can hold his end with the bat.

I think with Broad and Anderson they don't want to over bowl them. We play 17 (!) tests this year, and presumably they want to ensure they play them all. It all depends on what the priorities are. You can argue that playing Pakistan away will mean you can rotate one or the other and rest them, but clearly every player is on a meter at the moment.

What a great recovery job by Bairstow,, well supported by Billings and Rashid. We really have got some serious spirit in this team.

I still think the run rates were strange. 40 overs would hVe need 253!!! But they only got 293 off 50. Skewed in my opinion . Incredible cool from bairstow and the forgotten man in the post match analysis - mr billings! He turned the game

Brilliant from Bairstow. I cN be critical of him at times but he's still learning and that was a superb knock.
And I'm glad he no longer wears that ridiculous helmet he used to wear!

What a strange match. We were pretty much out of it, but then Bairstow and Billings took control. We had a bit of luck along the way, which helped.
It really does make one question how players with such talent managed to play so badly under Moores and Cook? By no means is this perfect forever, but how did we so drastically undersell ourselves playing that brand of cricket? We can thank NZ and McCullum for giving England a big shot of confidence for the summer.

Plus, we didn't need KP (surprise, surprise!) *Sits back, opens popcorn.

There is enough of the old guard still there. Hales wasn't good enough 3 months ago. Rashid was given the Napoleon treatment in the Caribbean. Morgan looked like a pub player in the WC. Plunkett and Bairstow came in and contributed. Etc
KP is a better shout for the test team, the one day team has a different dynamic and he wouldn't get in.

But then I am a big Ian Bell fan, and he is struggling, although had a good turn of form back at Warwickshire recently. Ballance definitely deserves sticking with, had a great start to his test career.

Slight tangent, but why do Warwickshire become Birmingham for the T20's? Gloucestershire don't become Bristol, or Sussex Eastbourne
