How about setting up different online collection pots so people can choose where their money goes, example; Dave Langan Transfer Kitty Stadium/Longer Term Project I'm guessing some people may be out off donating if they can't direct the funds accordingly and if its all one pot you may lose a donation. For the record I would contribute to all 3 I agree, and is something we can work on. Thanks for the suggestion. If anyone would like to make any donations other than the Dave Langan one, or ask any questions, then you can email yellowarmyoufc@gmail.com

To answer a few questions. Firstly no it's not the club that makes final decisions the steering group talk over everything and decide a plan of action. That's Joe, Charlie myself and Trevor. Both Charlie and I keep Ian Lenagan in the loop as he's very keen to keep building on the United We Stand motto. As for the stadium this is a huge area that OxVox is working very hard on. The right to bid being accepted has led to very positive conversations with the council. Helping the club and te community to acquire the stadium is our primary focus and we continue to have positive discussions on this. Once we have anything of note to report back we will do just that. As for donating online to the yellow army I haven't set this up yet as we wanted te focus on Dave Langan. But if you would like to donate to te fund you can post a cheque made out to OxVox and say its a donation to te fund. Simply post it to the address on our website. So if you are making the decisions on the money raised, why the figure of £20k. For what purpose do you have in mind, you didn't just pluck that figure out of the air there must a target goal to raise £20k by Xmas, is it for player? Has the club asked for this initiative to be started, it might encourage the fans more if it was announced what the end goal is. On the other point that didn't get answered, maybe you are not in a position to answer, but at what figure does the 12th man fund stand at the moment, and will any money in those coffers be put towards the £20k target. So if you are making the decisions on the money raised, why the figure of £20k.

So if you are making the decisions on the money raised, why the figure of £20k. The figure of 20k is to fund a senior player to come in during the January transfer window. That was stated in the original announcement. The idea being that it is a sufficient amount to fund a player to the end of the season who would make a real difference rather than a short term loanee who would be a bench warmer. It is not a figure plucked out of the air, that's the rationale. Regarding the 12th Man fund there is currently a little over £8k in there which has been made over the last year as the group has been active despite the desperately disappointing season, and has taken the amount raised by the 12th Man to £50k over 4 years (of which £42k has been spent on players). The £20k is new money in addition to that amount, not a reannouncement as beloved of politicians! Hence we are looking to boost the 12th Man total to £70k and the existing £8k is likely to be spent before January. I've been the treasurer of the 12th Man fund for over a year now, and I am very happy to recieve any donations in the form of cheques made out to 'The 12th Man'. If anyone wants to make a donation just PM me and I will give you my address or arrange to see you at a match. Online the 12th Man website has a PayPal donation facility here - ox12thman.org.uk/donate/ - for one off donations via PayPal or credit or debit card. Also can I point you to the regular monthly donation page at ox12thman.org.uk/donate/regular-donations/ which has a standing order form - a few pounds a month which you may not notice (!) all mounts up. To avoid confusion, note that cash is being raised/donated/whatever for distinct purposes - one being towards the £20k target through 12th Man, another being the smaller amounts need by JL etc to fund match day stuff which Joe has on occasions been funding from his own pocket. From a 12th Man perspective it's great to get donations, but it's even better to offer something - running an event, for example or selling merchandise - in return, so the donation approach aka begging bowls is not my preference, but it's there as an option if people wish to do it. If that makes sense.

A bucket collection every home game for loose change donations would raise a fair amount over a few games Idve thought..... shame that The Priory has gone as that was an ideal focal point under Tim for fundraising.... yes a similar collection could be made at the new ( still as yet to be be created....with 8 days to go to the first home pre season friendly) 12th man/supporters bar, although that by nature of its limited (in comparison to The Priory) capacity would Id assume raise considerably less £ in loose change per match than could have been raised IF the Priory was going to be operating as the unofficial supporters club as in previous seasons.

Not sure if this would be the right section to put this in, but, has anybody already done any banners with 'United We Stand' or 'Yellow Army' on?
If not, would people want one? Because my mates and I can do one!

I'm sure it's been thought of or mentioned but the north stand would be an ideal location to get Oxford United or OUFC put in with yellow seats. It would break up the boring blue seats and add a bit more yellow to the ground. Just a thought.

This is a great initiative and is so much more than just fundraising it's about developing the United We Stand message and bringing fans, the club, the owners, the players and players closer together. It's also about making the matchday atmosphere better and really creating a sense of belonging. As you can see OxVox has partnered with Joe Nicholls (who has now joined our committee to focus on this work) the 12th Man and the club on this. We won't be shaking people down for money we intend on holding big fun events that emphasise the importance of community. Each group will still do their own things as well and that's been made clear in the story but we will so work together on major projects. It's been a big summer already with the 12th man having now raised over £50k since it was launched, the OxVox right to bud being accepted (and clearly mentioned today's story as an event of importance that matches the spirit of what United We Stand is aimed at) and big developments by the club such as further promoting youth and having a new commercial team in place. Over the comming days more info will come out on initiatives that embody the ethos of the Yellow Army. We hope fans back these ideas and the club and fans come closer together than before. The new Yellow army , in principle is a good idea, however.... well there was always going to be a however from me wasnt there ......my question is just how independent is Oxvox as the 'independent voice of Oxford United supporters' now that Oxvox has joined forces so to speak with 12th man group, who as far as Im aware were formed separately or perhaps splintered away to be independent of Oxvox, with the intention to raise needed funds to help Oxford United FC with bringing in players etc,.... and then the mysterious Yellow Army group arrive on the scene.....suddenly all three groups are amalgamated under what seems to be one single group, which itself appears to be being kept on a very short leash by the board and their new senior employees at OUFC, so the official 'club' line is well and truly adhered to.....so much so that ELECTED officers of Oxvox, elected by Oxvox members, to represent the best interests of Oxford United supporters INDEPENDENT of OUFC, its board members and employees, seem to have been muzzled by 'someone' who has been pulling most of if not all the strings behind the forming of Yellow Army. I've a sneaky feeling that some, albeit well intentioned Oxvox elected officers have been hoodwinked on this and have been compromised too. If Oxvox has been amalgamated into yellow army and as a result of being amalgamated into what vey much seems to be an OUFC board created group, where does that leave Oxvox as the INDEPENDENT voice of Oxford United supporters? If Oxvox have become seconded as part of OUFC's hierarchy, via becoming part of the OUFC board controlled Yellow Army, Oxvox can, by default, no longer be the INDEPENDENT voice of Oxford United supporters. Which I think is both a huge shame as well as something of a catastrophe for Oxford United fans , AND OUFC too, as there is no longer an INDEPENDENT group to represent the views of Oxford United supporters weather they are supportive or opposed to various things that will happen involving the fortunes of Oxford United FC over the course of time. The other issue here is have certain ELECTED Oxvox officers been silenced, as in metaphorically gagged, from informing Oxvox members ( the very people who have elected them to their position as officers of Oxvox) until the 'someone' behind the formation of Yellow Army allows them to release the information that they are, and have been, sitting on? If even a smidgin of my, I believe well founded, suspicions are true and more to the point can be proven, sadly the end of Oxvox as the INDEPENDENT voice of Oxford United supporters under the current set up will be very imminent, as how can Oxvox be regarded as INDEPENDENT when some of Oxvox's officials are dancing to a tune thats being played by 'someone' when that 'someone' is clearly is not in any shape or form an Oxvox member? All the delay, after delay, after delay, as well as the now practically pisstakingly patronising responses to reminders that questions regarding the 12th man bar are still unanswered and outstanding, some considerable time on from when they were first raised, quite clearly a few regular posters on this very forum DO know the answers to most outstanding questions regarding the 12th Man bar, yet by the very nature of their responses to reminders that some of us, who are evidently regarded as 'less equal', are still waiting to be informed, it does appear obvious that there is a sinister puppeteer pulling the strings very manipulatively. So just how INDEPENDENT is Oxvox now then?..... or is that information subject to censorship too? So theres no misunderstanding on the subject Im very much in favour of what Yellow Army is setting out to achieve, I also strongly believe in transparency and openess regarding anything that is purported to be 'in the best interests' of Oxford United supporters, I also am 100% behind Oxford United supporters having an independent voice, which is why I am ( at least for now) an Oxvox member. As things certainly appear to stand right now, I feel that some of Oxvox's elected officers either via clever manouvering or though sheer naivety, have sacrificed being INDEPENDENT which is, I think an unhealthy position for both Oxvox with elected officers compromised from being independent and, in the long term, its also unhealthy for OUFC too.

Not just the 12th man bar LJS, thats merely the tip of the iceberg so to speak ......all this intrigue going on behind the scenes, vows of silence seemingly having been sworn by some people, who as elected officers of a(n apparently) INDEPENDENT supporters group, appear to forgotten what & whos interests theyve been elected to represent. Add to that the deafening silence on a range of subjects, which us 'lesser beings' have raised & are expecting OUR elected representatives to INDEPENDENTLY raise with the appropriate person/persons or organisation and report back the outcome, but instead we're being patronisingly 'patted on the head' and told in effect 'dont concern yourself with any of that, WE know whats best for 'you'....but were not gonna tell you until we decide that you're entitled to know'. Id reckon its more likely a case of gagging orders from high above in the official OUFC hierarchy!!! a situation that I believe NO truly INDEPENDENT elected supporters representative should allow themselves to be subjected to. It appears to me that a few elected Oxvox officers have gone native, shame on them if they have I say!- knowledge is power its said, its also said Power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely, food for though when those timeless adages are taken into consideration ?
Yep, a fair overview, regarding total lack of any coherent information flowing back to us ordinary Oxford United supporters, 12th man bar included, is that Im miffed, peeved AND vexed to say the least

Thankfully that isn't the case Sarge.
The new administration of Yellow Army is made up of four people, Charlie Methven, Joe Nicholls, Trevor Lambert and Mark Sennett. As far as I know, no one else is involved in that working group. That leaves 9 other elected members of the OxVox Committee having nothing to do at the coalface of this new group.
Now OxVox supported the notion of the Yellow Army and then a few thnigs were added to it. The Yellow Army was about atmosphere and matchday and those involved in that, Joe and the Ultras, have worked very hard to make things happen. From OxVox Committee notes which are available from last month (and in the coming days notes from this weeks meeting) will show OxVox (or a decision made by the committee) is supporting the Yellow Army (specifically Joe's/Ultra's arm of it) by funding (loaning) some of the impressive flags these chaps have ordered from Europe.
The fund-raising bit is important and is obviously going to be key to the aim of raising £20,000. They have some plans about that which they will announce.
OxVox remains as Independent as ever and whilst I am on the committee I will continue to make sure that happens. We are keen though to continue to promote positive action and the 12th Man have taken the mantle and leading the way in helping to contribute to this new £20k target.
I have been quieter than normal because I have no direct involvement in this new Yellow Army. I get told what is happening at committee meetings and I expect the displays tomorrow (Pompey) and Bury at home will make a few people smile and take stock of the hard work these four individuals have put in.
Meanwhile, OxVox have other more important matters. That includes supporting the 12th Man Bar ONCE AN ANNOUNCEMENT has been made on revenue shares/split, making it work and helping to deliver a nice pre-match experience. We have been involved in that area. OxVox need to continue to work with the club and Firoka to deliver on the wishes of the membership and wider fan base, it needs to continue to ask and help the club drive its debt down. It needs our membership to vote on the recent rule changes which we have been asked to adopt by Supporters Direct.
Cheers Simon

Something OxVox have been trying to sort for some significant time along with the Logo's on the side of the stadium. In our May meeting notes we understood Firoka had revoked their decision to allow OxVox to install OUFC logos on the side of the stands. We continue these disucssions and are still working on that since Firoka's agreement to work with OUFC on the new bar. Seats may be a bit more problamatic at this time due to the involvement of LW and non-ownership of the ground. But positives are Firoka are doing some positive bits around the stadium.

I would like to commend sarge for asking sensible questions about Yellow Army, OxVox, 12th Man etc.
I can only really comment from the 12th Man point of view, and indirectly I guess on OxVox as a trust member.
Essentially the YA idea is members of the different groups, and of none, working together in areas of common interest, and forgetting that they may belong to OxVox, 12th Man, or whatever. First and foremost we are Us fans. So far, so hearts and flowers.
From a 12th Man point of view we remain a group concerned with fundraising for 1st team players. We will do everything we can to maximise our contribution to the Yellow Army target of £20k by the end of the year. We're not into the politics of OUFC, which is OxVox's domain - nor are we into Joe's area of match day atmosphere and improvements.
YA will be all of us coming together for particular causes. Tomorrow is an example as Mark and OxVox have taken the lead and a massive amount has already been raised for Dave Langan's medals so far, tomorrow's bucket collection as it happens will be staffed by 12th Man people, but I hope everyone can think in terms of it being a Yellow Army collective thing, rather than be labelled by which group did what or who did what. That's really the kind of irrelevant thinking we are trying to move away from, in the areas of common interest. The collection for Dave is a good example of a unified approach.
Finally on OxVox I am sure it can retain its independence but that is entirely a matter for the trust committee and indirectly the trust membership.

Cheers Simon At last some real information, thanks for that BB/Simon :-) And Im very pleased to hear and to have assurances that Oxvox is and will continue to remain Independent :-) ( re the Oxvox agm Ive responded to that on the appropriate thread....and have given my vote by proxy to oxvox chair) my main concern is that there really does seem to be a gagging order/embargo/censorship or similar that has been imposed on the (NON ELECTED....hand picked by IL?) Yellow Army big 4 players, of which the roll on effect seems to be the stopping the free flow of information on a range of subjects, for, from where I stand no logical reason, except perhaps a powertrip on the part of a closet control freak who is pulling the yellow army strings. My one concern with Yellow army is that by OUFC (as in the club itself) getting involved as full on as it appears to be, the question of who is actually controlling what yellow army do arises due to my naturally cynical & questioning outlook. Especially as personally I believe that ANY supporters group should be seperate to the club they support....... otherwise it may all end up with americanized b*llshit razzamatz being imposed on matchdays, something I DONT want to see happening. My view is Any supporters organisation shouldnt be put together in a convinient, easy to deal with (and for that matter control) unit, 'led' by selected supporters by club representatives, nor should the supporters organisation get too cosy with the powers that be at OUFC, its unhealthy to say the least. Additionally if OUFC have hand picked individuals to be yellow army controllers, where is the accountability and for that matter who are three of the four who form yellow army's main men accountable to? ( Charlie Methven being a paid OUFC employee, the other named three presumably are unpaid volunteers, yet are by nature of yellow army's targets in a position to make decisions on behalf of fellow supporters, yet without having a democratic mandate to do so) thanks again for an enlightening response BB/Simon , appreciated :-)

( Charlie Methven being a paid OUFC employee, the other named three presumably are unpaid volunteers, yet are by nature of yellow army's targets in a position to make decisions on behalf of fellow supporters, yet without having a democratic mandate to do so) thanks again for an enlightening response BB/Simon , appreciated :-) Couple of quick points - Charlie is not a paid OUFC official he is an honorary (i.e. unpaid) director of the youth trust. The other three of us are unpaid of course. In terms of my own position I'm just representing the 12th Man fund in this, we are a working group with no formal structure and we welcome anyone along who wants to come along and help our fundraising efforts. We rotate the chair of the meeting week by week. Whether that kind of openness and lack of structure counts as accountable or democratic I suppose depends on your point of view - certainly we're not into policy discussions or anything so we don't have the same need for an accountable committee that OxVox does. Our next meeting is on Monday at the training ground/social club at 7.30 so if anyone wants to come along let me know.

To add a bit more Sarge. I represent OxVox on the group and if the committee wasn't comfortable with the aims of the group we wouldn't be part of it. Joe is also a coopted member of the OxVox committee so we actually are fortunate to have two people part of the working group. As Trevor says Charlie is unpaid and is certainly not a leader of the group as there isn't one. In fact Charlie specificly asked not to have a casting vote on anything. Charlie is a paid up season ticket holder just like Trevor, Joe and I. He is a trustee on the Yourh Trust (again unpaid) and like us he gets no comps from the club. In fact I can't think of a single free thing Trevor or I have ever had from OUFC due to our voluntary involvement with OxVox/12th man. Of course we have had the joys of free criticism for volunteering our time The group is there for 2 reasons improving the atmosphere and Bringing fans and club closer together. In addition, there is also a fundraising target to comitment the 12th man's great efforts. Now on to the bar... We've all worked very closely on this with the ideas for decor, service, entrance to the bar, food/drink and entertertainment all having input from the 12th man and OxVox committee. There's a very simple reason things have t been released as we want everything confirmed in writing so there's no questioners unanswered and no false promises. Everything we've suggested needs work by Oxford united and on certain points (decor and revenue) sign off by Firoka. To be fair both parties have been very supportive and 90% of things are sorted. But if you read my post, Trevor's and Simon's I think you can start to understand we haven't been holding back info we are waiting until everything is confirmed so we can fully inform fans the second we have that info.

Mark, just a question on the 12th man bar. If certain things have not yet been signed off by firoka, is it likely that it will all be in place in just one weeks time?

Its often a thankless task respresting people Mark (and me n my abrasive approach probably doesnt help) ...... thanks for the additional info just a thought, if a couple of Work In Progess reports had been circulated during the process of setting up the 12th man bar maybe there wouldnt be so much suspicion or cynicism on the subject....aint hindsight a good thing? looking forward to hearing the full informaton in the week..... in the meantime, its off to the south coast for me COYY

I can understand that Sarge. I've spoke to you enough over the years to know you're a good bloke and nothing is personal on here.
We have had chats on here in early stages saying we would only be able to put removable decor up, we would look into making it non-season ticket holders only, try and improve choice and service in bar, improve atmosphere etc. so we've taken the feedback on board and worked hard on it.
Because of the nature of anything to do with football clubs fans want to I is as much Info as soon as possible. So we decided its best not to announce anything until everything was in place to leave no questions unanswered.
Off to Pompey myself now can't wait. On the way down Ray Hougton will be on Talksport talking about the great efforts of Oxford fans raising funds for Davy Langan. He's been a star in promoting this and has been very complimentary about our fans and our club. Nice that a guy in his position is down to earth and more than willing to help out an old club and an old team mate.

I will be on the Malcolm Boyden show around 11am, if anyone wants to listen in. Text in as well if you can, to show support for the Yellow Army.
We were brilliant at Portsmouth, and we will be again tomorrow.
