A new fans initiative has been launched by the three fans groups coming together under the 'Yellow Army' banner. They aim to raise £20,000 for the transfer funds by Christmas. Fantastic!! This all helps keep the positivity going and is imo a gesture thanking the Chairman and board by doing our bit. Let's get behind it. www.oufc.co.uk/news/article/00090713-yellow-army-902013.aspx

This is a great initiative and is so much more than just fundraising it's about developing the United We Stand message and bringing fans, the club, the owners, the players and players closer together. It's also about making the matchday atmosphere better and really creating a sense of belonging.
As you can see OxVox has partnered with Joe Nicholls (who has now joined our committee to focus on this work) the 12th Man and the club on this. We won't be shaking people down for money we intend on holding big fun events that emphasise the importance of community.
Each group will still do their own things as well and that's been made clear in the story but we will so work together on major projects. It's been a big summer already with the 12th man having now raised over £50k since it was launched, the OxVox right to bud being accepted (and clearly mentioned today's story as an event of importance that matches the spirit of what United We Stand is aimed at) and big developments by the club such as further promoting youth and having a new commercial team in place.
Over the comming days more info will come out on initiatives that embody the ethos of the Yellow Army. We hope fans back these ideas and the club and fans come closer together than before.

It's a very positive message to give to the fans. Fair play to those who are and have given their own time to get it up and running.

It's a very positive message to give to the fans. Fair play to those who are and have given their own time to get it up and running. Hear, hear. I still find it incredible how many people (not necessarily on here, but definitely on the OxVox forum) spend their time bitching about the work and objectives of OxVox. If these people feel so strongly, why don't they get involved in some positive way for the good of the club? Or stop bitching ....

The Yellow Army banner will bring together the 12th Man, OxVox, Ultimate support days and Ultras, to renew the community feel and essence of the club. The aim is clear, the details and the outworking of it across the club and including everyone at all levels of the club will take time to put in place. But this is the right time to get together to make a positive difference.
A fundraising target is one aspect and it is good to have a bold and ambitious target with a clear purpose. Alongside that, though, is the principle that the whole club will be the stronger for everyone pulling in the same direction for success. Joe for example is coming to 12th Man meetings and the links, and joint working with Mark and OxVox, and with the club, growing and strengthening can only be good for the future.

Charlie Methven. Now there's a name I haven't seen for a while.
Well done to all those involved. Hopefully it will be a big success.

Who's the boss man here ? Charlie Methven?
Serious point here; why don't all organisations merge into one. Otherwise it may get a tad confusing.

There is no boss. There's a small working group of Charlie, myself, Joe and Trevor who all represent different groups (well Joe actually represents OxVox too). All the groups have different roles. 12th man is a fundraising group and this forms only a small part of what OxVox do as you know.
We will be working together under the Yellow Army banner and OxVox will also be working hard with Joe on helping to improve the match day atmosphere. But a supporters' trust has a wider role as has been acknowledged in the press release and we remain independent. But we are keen to work on multiple positive projects, which is why we are delighted to be part of launching the Yellow Army.
So no bosses anywhere and each group plays important roles on their own but can make a big difference working together on projects as well.

So no bosses anywhere and each group plays important roles on their own but can make a big difference working together on projects as well. It's about co-ordination , prb, clearly the groups have distinct aims - instant soundbite descriptions might be OxVox = supporter representation/community aspects, 12th Man = fundraising, Ultimates (with Ultras) = match day atmosphere - that works and what's new is that we are working together to get synergy where the aims overlap and inter-relate. From a 12th Man point of view the extra oomph of having everyone behind say a fundraising event will be fantastic, and to take that example, there will be huge spinoff benefits for the community feel of the club, for OxVox, and for the match day atmosphere if folk are brought together at an event. So everyone wins. Charlie's role in co-ordinating and facilitating is vital and as a group of four we will maintain good communication to keep things ticking over.

Serious point here; why don't all organisations merge into one. Otherwise it may get a tad confusing. The three groups are already inter-linked, they don't need merging. All three have specific purposes and all three are connected to OxVox. There are two clear aims here, one is to raise a sensible amount of money, £20,000, for the club to spend in January and that is more than achievable based on the amount of money the 12th Man raised when it was created - £10k in a matter of weeks! Then we have the matchday experience which Joe and the Ultras will be driving forward with the support of the club and the Yellow Army group and all others concerned. The message is really positive and re-affirms the united we stand message which the club have created. The 12th Man demonstrated to an extent what can happen when supporters all back a campaign, I still believe that 12th Man and the signing of players contributed to the success of promotion from the BSP.

I am pleased that this is happening. There have been ideas and discussions since the season ended, and we wanted to build on the Ultimate Support days, and make home and away matches better. This new, united group, will have a big say in things, and we will work hard to deliver a better experience for fans. This includes a number of areas, with the expertise from OxVox, 12th Man group, and the fans behind trying to improve match days.
The £20,000 target for the January transfer window is our way of backing the club, as they work to improve all areas of the club, including the Academy, youth team, ladies squad and first team. We are all now one, united club. A club to be proud of, and we want to help do our bit, to push Oxford United to greater things.
Ian Lenagan is behind us, and we will work with him, and the other staff within the club to make things happen. I am excited about the plans for the club, from both the board and the fans.
A lot of work has gone into changing things next season. I have met with the club, on behalf of the Yellow Army, and we agreed on a number of points to do with the stadium and match day experience. We have good people working on this from the club, and as fans, we will continue to do what we can to improve the match day experience.
My role is about match day experience and atmosphere. I am the fan who has the responsibility to work with the Yellow Army, and communicate with the club. But I represent all fans, and will always do my best to do that, even if difficult questions need to be asked.
I am really optimistic about the new season. As we are all the Yellow Army, we are in it together.
UNITED WE STAND!

It's a great idea and a really positive campaign, and hopefully together we can raise more than £20k.
My only concern, playing devil's advocate, is over two scenarios;
1. The team have a terrible start to the season, morale is low and people wait to see if CW is axed before contributing, and would rather the funds go to a new manager 2. That we have an excellent start, and people feel that there's nothing that needs to be gained at this stage by coughing up.

Can I offer my services if the group needs any graphic design work doing, is there going to be a Yellow Army logo? That could be very useful to us regarding new flag designs, yellow army logo, and general graphics that will look great displayed in the stand. Coming up with the ideas is one thing, but having someone who can actually put it into reality would be a great help!

The offer of help is appreciated, and we want as many fans involved as possible. This united group will oversee things, but the Yellow Army is all of us. So the more fans that help out, the more we can do. The Yellow Army have many different strengths, and what has been launched today is to bring us all closer together, and use the skills we have. More will be announced soon, and is all part of the plan to unite the fans, players, and the club.
You can pm myself, Trevor or Mark on here. I will check with Charlie if he has an account on here.

How about a Yellow Army pin badge?
Maybe L&P could use his skills to come up with a few design choices...
