Better sound system. The current one sounds so tinny, it doesn't get you pumped up.

LG , was pointing out that fans sit were they like , nothing smart or rebelling agast anything/one. Mind you as you never go , you would not know 90% of supporters sit were they like. You've missed the point. When you buy a season ticket do you not get to pick a seat? If so, why don't you sit in it? I appreciate people paying on the day might choose to sit where they like because the seat they get isn't where they want to sit, but if you are an ST holder and have an opportunity to choose a seat for the whole season why would you pick a seat in a position you don't want? No not missed the point at all, As some off my mates I meet up with at games, are not season ticket holders, but we choose to sit together . so move to a area were we can , nice days, we sit in the sun, wet days, more to the back, Not tied to one seat good/bad . simple if you have a different number of mate each week, its easier to move our self's , or do you want us to go to the ticket office and say we want 20 seats together??. Its ok for you Billy sat at home alone.[/quote] No fella, its you that's missed the point, twice, but i won't hold it against you. Your answer is fair enough. If you go with different, non-ST mates and want to move to accommodate them than that seems an acceptable reasoning. I just assumed a fan as dedicated as you wouldn't trouble himself with anyone but other season ticket holders given the disdain with which you treat those who are infrequent attendees. Were that the case you would have selected your seat among other STs and thus wouldn't have to be moving about every other week for three years.

Get stuffed. Why close the North Stand? Some of us like it there.
Edit: this is in reply to yellowandblue, the Quote function didn't seem to work.

1) move away fans nearer East stand 2) if oufc are attacking the fence end in the second half, allow fans to transfer to North stand fence end at half time (current away section) and charge £2 for doing so. Would massively improve atmosphere in second half as well as raise some money. Probably not feasible but would be good.

Maybe if you made a game or two I mite even get like you , But then again .Good Night .

The best thing for the atmosphere would be to open the area at the back on the East Stand as a terrace, although this is very unlikely. In doing so, you would have a higher density of singers, where they all get a better view, and you are a further 5-10 feet closer to the roof, meaning the sound bounces back down, rather than upwards into the abyss. The next best thing would be unreserved seating where singers can stand freely. This would hopefully bring back the divided sections of vocal supporters from the north and east stands.
On the pre-match music topic, in my opinion having the music too loud is negative for the atmosphere. Atmospheres build up before the game, and having songs drowned out by the music can just kill it off. For big games I feel the music should be turned off to allow the atmosphere to simmer nicely pre-kickoff! For smaller games then yeah, some upbeat, heart pumping songs over the shite that's played now.

Definitely moving the away fans closer to the East Stand. Would be a huge improvement! Unallocated seating is also a great idea, and a specific singing section, top 4 or 5 rows at the centre of the east stand and no more than 15/20 seats across. Basically trying to replicate how all the singers congregate at away grounds! And another easy one for atmosphere/match day experience.... Better pre-match music! Songs that appeal to 90% of people in the stadium, which means no 1 Direction, none of The Wanted, no JLS etc etc. And upbeat songs/any songs that build up the atmosphere, I could write a long list of (clean) songs that would get the crowd going. Some of the pre-match music is embarrassing, especially when a slow ballad comes on making me want to nod off. Such a simple way to improve it. Rant over Definitely need to look at improving the speakers and quality of music before a game!!! Songs like EMF - Unbelievable build an atmosphere where blaring out and should be part of 15 minutes build up to the game! 3 or 4 big songs followed by a bigger and better club song as the players come out!! It sounds cheesy but went to one Arsenal game when the announcer gave the first name of each player and the crowd responded with the surname! Had a surprisingly big effect and easily done! Its not so much the quality of the speakers/PA, but the restrictions on volume imposed by the planning permission.

I thought the Club already covered this topic in the survey? Still, any initiative to improve the 'match day experience' has to be welcome. Anyone know if OxVox have any involvement in this?
From my experience, walking into the concourses of the NS or ES pre-match sets the tone- and the majority of the time it's like the walls, grey, cold and lifeless!! This is where the MDE should begin imho, there needs to be the colours (FYI- Yellow and Blue!!) and some lively LOUD music to wake people up, and perhaps have some sort of 'live' entertainment (No, not Timmy Mallet!)guest players from the past etc. Regards the area at the top of the East Stand, this is where the Club should be looking if they are serious about improving the atmosphere, this could be where the feel good factor initiated in the concourses is carried into the Stadium, if elf n safety says it can't be an all standing area- look at alternatives, a live band for instance, something to kick start the fans pre-match. 'Cross bar challenge' lumping a ball into a box or hoards of screaming kids running around the pitch don't work! As for a Club song, it's up to us the fans, to come up with that. No good voting on here imo, or the Official site, 'Voting' should come by natural selection!! And, of course nothing improves the atmosphere better than having a 'team to be proud of' and good competition from away support- more chance of that as we climb the divisions!! Yes, good call about shifting away support in the NS nearer to the ES- for the time being, shouldn't be needed in the Championship, too often!!

Some decent attacking, entertaining football... Shots on goal... The odd crunching tackle....
... And a fourth stand that is terracing!
A few pictures on walls, a bit of yellow paint, and a nice tune over the tannoy will count for nothing once the game has started.

Do people really think it's likely we're going to get a 4th stand in the next 5-10 years? also, I think it's odd to suggest that there's no use getting the crowd pumped before the match starts. Comedians have warm up acts, musicians have support acts, why not have some things to perk up the fans such as songs, changing events at home games (live bands, some fairground rides, some old players coming in and doing meet and greets now and then), and a nicer environment (get some local kids to do a mural or something to replace the grey grey walls) and it'd obviously help some people get more pumped and encourage more families to come which means more money for the club which means more money to be spent on players who will hopefully be able to do the footballing things you mentioned

these are all decent choices, but I was thinking something a bit more well known and something the crowd could sing along to also maybe something older for all of the coffin-dodgers in the stands who obviously hate anything post 1980

How about "when you're smiling" as an anthem? It was used way back in the seventies and would fit with the positive vibes the fans need to send out.

Its only 2 years away according to the 5 year plan (and according to Wilder if we stay injury free!).

Just mentioned it on another thread but I thought if as many fans as poss donated a tenner each for some yellow paint we could soon cover the drab walls with a bit of colour!

People send in songs they think will 'build up the atmosphere' and there must be songs included from a number of decades (for example).

A few different records is not going to change the matchday experience. Sadly I don't hold much hope for the matchday experience unless we are storming a division. My favourite idea to help the atmosphere is to have the North Stand for Oxford and the east for away. The wind predominantly blows towards the East Stand which is why we get away fans saying they can't hear us. Not only that the East Stand is the smallest stand which means for the big games the vocal support is split. Some blocks could be unallocated which seems popular.

Paint the tunnels where fans come in and out of yellow, or maybe have it like plymouth do - pictures of former players.

I've thought of a great way to improve the atmosphere at home games.
We get a team that plays exciting attacking football, scores lots of goals and wins games at home!
I don't know why we haven't tried this yet.
