Lets be honest we aren’t going to get a fourth stand anytime soon, and it is depressing looking out onto a ropey fence and the car park. Shouldn’t we get something put up there to enclose the stadium in a bit? Wouldn’t it help with atmosphere, acoustics, and the wind? The argument about this sort of thing is always that it would cost, but isnt it actually a huge commercial opportunity for the club? If put up in a higher fence it could be highly visible and valuable advertising space. Look at what Rayo have done: www.skyscrapercity.com/showpost.php?s=25855bba24e8e436b9fa5331a239b9e0&p=77466275&postcount=37Its not pretty but it does enclose the stadium and it must be commercially viable because Rayo are skint, they wouldn’t have done it if it didn’t pay for itself.

Agree. Big advertising boards would at least fill the space with something so that the stadium feels more enclosed.
Might not be pretty but anything is better than a big open space

You should email KT with your thoughts, definitely would be financially viable and would improve the acoustics significantly. If you've ever left the Priory after KO the sound seeps out of the open end and echos against the Vue complex, would be good to contain it within the ground and make money whilst doing so.
On a more technical note, is there much demand for advertising space around the pitch? We seem to still have old hoardings that have been there for years IE the 'coca-cola' style ones from when they sponsored the FL. Also would the club only get a percentage of advertising revenue, which might reduce the appeal? Either way StadCo would be jobsworth about it all.
The Rayo pictures are interesting, all looks very familiar!

The answer to that might be as simple as to which side of the fence the advertising hoardings are built - that and a good lawyer! It's an idea which the club ought to explore, if they haven't already done so.

I thought this too- maybe just get something else then, some kind of mural to OUFC? or get the kids from the estate to spray paint it!

A proposal was put to KT just under two years ago, which would have been self financing in year one, and would have then produced an income which could have been shared with Stadco.
He was interested, but it was about the same time as the Heritage boards on the South Stand and the new goals, and as Stadco were such a pain in the arse about those two items, I think the club lost the stomach for the fight with them, which would have inevitably ensued!

Does anyone have any idea how much a little 4th stand would cost? Would we encounter resistance to putting one there seeing as it would take a lot of the car park from the complex.

If we had the 4th end completed we would easily have a ground comparable to any in league 1 and many championship grounds, however I can never see the club being in a position to acquire part of the car park from the complex to enable this, what we should do for the time being is build a mural like the one Arsenal had a few years ago and maybe create some space at the front of this and stick the away fans there.

I guess the fact we don't own the ground could be a small obstacle to overcome.... The whole thing just leaves a bad taste in the mouth and the really sad thing is - though no-one connected to the club wants to admit it - there has to be a real possibility that the stadium and club will never be connected again. Kassam's wealth is still rising and I am sure the asking price will not be lowered under 10-13 million. Will we ever have 10 million pounds to buy the stadium and the additional money to build a 4th stand? Even if we make the Championship- will any owner (current or future) be willing to invest the money required? Its a big risk as we could be relegated easily (as you have to assume if that money is in the stadium, little will be put in the team) - and we would only average approx 8,000-9,000 in league one and we are catered for that. Don't get me wrong - I am desperate to own it and to get a 4th stand so this club is whole again. Our forced acceptance of the situation means we are a laughing stock with other clubs - how the f*ck did we end up with 3 stands and a seperate club to the stadium? And for more than a decadeand no sign of it ever being resolved? We need Branson - or a Euro millions winner as otherwise I could be 61 in 2042 and I think we could still be in a similar position in terms of the stadium. Of course, the team will have some up's and down's (lets hope more ups and that we never experience the BSP again) - but until we are united with the stadium, we will never reach our potential

Maybe a ground share with Oxford City now that they are on the way up.

Am i right in saying we are tied to the ground by a contract for 25 years or something like that?
So if we just moved we would still be liable for rent, i am sure a good legal mind could find us a way out of the contract and we p*ss off somewhere else!

I for one would absolutely love to move stadium. As long as it's capacity was around 8000+ it wouldn't be a problem. We could actually create an atmosphere then!

What annoys me is that even if we complete this stadium, it will then be half empty for most games and the gaps in the corners are still huge.
At the end of the day, the stadium wasn't built for OUFC. If it was it would be blue and YELLOW around 10,000 capacity with stands all around and no gaps keeping the atmosphere in. Sadly playing in a stadium like that is just a dream...
