www.oufc.co.uk/page/News/0,,10342~2618490,00.html I see on OWS that there has been a new tunnel installed. Is this to combat the players and more likely CW getting grief from fans who sit next to the dugout when results don't exactly go to plan. That aside it does make the tunnel actually look like a tunnel which is a bonus.

Shame it's in place before the Pig Hill match as I was looking forward to leaning over the tunnel wall and "welcoming" Dick Annio into Oxfordshire. Is the timing coincidental?

Timing wise, they probably did want it in place for the Swindon match for safety reasons. A good addition to the ground though. Its good to see the club continuing to form links with the local community, something we have done well since KT came to the club, and should continue to do.

An intimidating tunnel?
I think it is a wonderful addition to the club and stadium and looks the part. Well Done to Owen and the Commercial Team.

I think for those of us who are located within shouting/cheering distance of the tunnel it is a massive disappointment. Lots of little kids, including my own, used to love applauding the players and getting a high five or a wave.
I'm not sure this is a great move by the club to be honest. Yes, the referee, an under fire manager, an under performing player and the opposition are better protected but it makes the whole atmosphere in that part of the pitch far less hostile.
I actually think the players enjoyed coming off - after a victory of course - to the adulation they received in that tunnel area.

I can understand that view Baldy. I don't sit in that area so I am oblivious to the atmosphere you paint but I accept the children lose some interaction with the players and management.
It's a shame that its in place for the Swindon game too. It will remove some of the atmosphere on the day. But we can all enjoy PDC's antics during the game.
But on the other hand, it could have been implemented quickly because of some of the situations that have happened down in that area this season. Moreover, its another revenue stream for the club.

Surely you dont need a tunnel to stick up a bit more advertsing near to where the players come out?

Sadly for me I think it's very inappropriate from the club, and is too soon since the People's Princess passed away in similar circumstance.

The pitchside hoardings seem quite full around three sides of the pitch, the club have the North Stand steps sponsored, they have tons of advertising and marketing in the concourses, not many places remain.
A tunnel provides an opportunity for some advertising.
I guess they could wheel it our pre-match, retract it as the players come out, wheel it out again during the first half, retract it at half time so Baldy can see the players, wheel it our for 10 minutes during the interval, wheel it back in again as the players come out for the second, wheel out again for 45 minutes, retract it as the injury time board is lofted into the sky.
Simples. Everyone is happy.

The world stood still for me on that day. To be honest, it was very insensitive of the People's Princess to die when she did. I was in London the day after and the tube was packed full of teary faced sheep with bunches of garage flowers. Made my journey quite unpleasant. She could of had the good grace to hang on for another 24 hours and then it wouldn't have inconvenienced me at all. I regard the tunnel as a nod to the republicans amongst us by the club. Well done!

Why are we giving foster families discount? Maybe because if they foster lots of kids then we will end up with more OUFC fans? ? Or maybe just a bit of community involvements to help foster parents give the kids a treat? ? Does it cause you a problem?

Why are we giving foster families discount? I think you'll find that the offer of discounted OUFC tickets is the main reason couples choose to foster children.

I think it's a nod towards the way larger clubs are sanitising footy nowadays. Kids can no longer high five their heroes, useless Refs/Linesman can hide away from abuse, and we will no longer be the only Club (certainly that I'm aware of ) that annoy the opposition players at the start of every home game with a bombardment of streamers and balloons. What next all seater stadia? FFS
