this has probably been done MANY times before but here is my question just imagine if @ the end of this season we were promoted to the premiership & remained there for 3 season's as we did @ the arse end of the 80's WHAT would we do with al the money we would have been given WAY BACK THEN ? thanks to SKY ? if it was the amount that is doshed out now ?

Using the @ sign for 'at' saves you at most 1 keystroke on a phone and none on an ordinary keyboard. So why do it?
Also shouting (USING CAPITAL LETTERS) is rude and just attention-seaking. Please use lower-case for thread titles. That applies to you and a few others.

It would make little difference because it is soaked up by player wages. The amount of money available increased, the clubs gave it to the players in increased wages so no one ended up much better off. It meant that the Premiership were able to attract some of the best players from around the world and less home grown players. We would probably have a high proportion of foreign players compared to our old Div One teams and would be paying them tens, if not hundreds, times the amount that we were back then. It is unlikely that we would now have players playing for us in the Prem that started their OUFC career in Div3/4 because the gap is much wider now.
One differece is that Maxwell may have been able to prop up MGN Newspapers and his other interests by syphoning off some of the cash rather than robbing his pension funds but otherwise we probably would have been in little better position than we were back then.
Phew Ive managed to avoid any @s or CAPs as instructed.........

Ox9hp - not long enough for me. Try 50 years of supporting the Yellows. You missed them going up from the Southern League. God, I miss the glory days when Swindon, Reading, Luton etc were what they still are - not worthy of even mentioning. We will return. Ken

Not important - and I haven't got any strong views about it - but I think Malcolmnl is simply trying to suggest is that when we make comments it is not unreasonable to write English which is, mostly, English.
I think it is noticeable that those who use @ instead of "at" or "at the" are generally those who also think the only response to a different point of view from theirs (different views frighten them, you see) is to say "f*ck off" or words to this effect.
I don't feel strongly about the capitals bit, but isn't Malcolmnl a moderator and can't he be allowed to express an opinion without receiving personal insults? There are quite a few on this forum who are complete f*cking twats (e.g. Junior1 and Bicesterox) but I don't insult their views. I either ignore them or give a reasonable answer to them if they have a valid point. Just a thought. Ken

Thanks Ken - Was that comment bought on because I asked why you always put 'ken' at the end of your posts or have I p*ssed you off somewhere else ;D Because as far as I can see my other reply to this post was an 'atempted humourous' one. If you'd like to call me a 'complete f*cking t*at' to my face instead of hiding behind your keyboard let me know!!

There are certain good role models out there in terms of clubs that have tasted the Premiership in the recent years. Blackpool, Burnley, even Reading could be used as examples.
For a club like ours, we would certainly need to expand the stadium with a capacity around 20,000 including a 4th stand. That would cost several million.
We would have to be realistic and not spend huge amounts on transfer fee's and wages, but save and invest the income. We would have to treat each season in the premiership as a bit of fun, chance to visit some premiership grounds and maybe cause a upset or two. But realistically, would expect relegation at the end of the season.
We have discussed this before and realistically, we are probably a top half Div 1 team/bottom half Championship team. So any flirtation with the premiership should be used to ensure we stay at a realistic level

Sorry for falling into the trap of giving Ken more "airtime" and feeding his ego but how did the leaflet campaign go outside the Northstand. As I understand it Ken was neer going to be put off no matter what but I've read nothing from him or anyone else about it since..Did it happen? was this just hot air? what was the outcome ie did Ken stick to his guns and carry on dispite the bullys? I'm interested actually as this is the make or brake of ken in my eye's. If he did do exactly what he said then he does desearve a little repect for standing up for what he believes in...If he didn't then it just underlines what people have been saying about him and he's just attention seeking

malcolmnl you neglected to mention my miss-spelling of "all" ! Malcolm's spelling in his original post was not too clever either but I'm sure he's granted an exemption. It was a typically an*l post, but one that moderators do from time to time just to remind you they're there. There have been plenty of other threads more deserving on mighty Malcolm's whip that have been left alone (especially when started by his beloved Junior) so I can only assume you caught him at a bad moment.

This is hilarious! I knew Oxford attracted muppets but someone (and a moderator at that) is sad enough to ignore the post and slate some one for using an @ sign and for writing FIVE WORDS IN CAPITALS. OH DEAR OH DEAR!! MY BELOVED OXFORD (AND JUNIOR) ARE SUPPORTED BY SOME SPESHAL PPL. Ennit blud.

Now I get why Malcolm posted what he did. Posts look a right mess when the illegitimate illiterate start shouting.
