I've been very impressed with what I've seen of Hackney so far. Although I wasn't at the game yesterday, my brother says he was decent again when he came on.
If Craddock is still struggling with his slight injury on Tuesday then perhaps Hackney will start? He'll certainly give us pace and natural balance up top.

Hackney did well with his pace, trickery and movement and certainly excited the crowd. It was interesting to watch CW on YELLOW Player after where CW said rather, mischieviously that he had to "nail" SH because he did not necessarily make the correct decision late on when we were two on two.
I can think of three occasions where SH tried long square passes and we lost possession but overall he did well.

I described him as a 'straight line' winger. Potter is all get it, twist, turn, check and is no further forward whereas Hackneys first touch gets the ball out of his feet and in a position to attack in a straight line and go right at the heart of the defence. He is far more direct than Potter and, in my opinion, that type of winger is always harder to defend against because in no time at all he is in a dangerous area. Potter will be jinking about it with it on the halfway ine and no threat at all.

Bit unfair on Potter. The 2 have them will have a big say in where we finish this season. Hackney is a very good player with a sight for goal and puts great crosses into the penalty area. Its just a shame the forwards failed to capitilise on them.

Hackneys crosses were amazing, its great to finally see someone who can cross a decent ball in 9 times out of 10.
I hope we get to keep him after his loan spell finishes

Potter is young and has potential to develop but is frustrating at times and having someone like Hackney at the club could help him.

I was very impressed with Hackney's direct pace and crosses too. I hope he starts on Tuesday.

I hope we get to keep him after his loan spell finishesThat will depend a lot on which League we are in. Not so sure about that. As long as his wage demands are reasonable and assuming he carries on with his form then could be a good permanent signing. The reason Simon Hackney may be interested is that he has been a squad player for Colchester since he signed in 2008 (08/09 - 11 starts & 6 sub apps, 13 starts & 8 sub apps in 09/10 and this season, 2 sub apps). Also he has been on loan at Morecambe last season. So the chance of pushing for and being regularly involved with 1st team football may be a big draw for him. It also depends on his contract situation with Colchester and when it runs out. Unless of course, Colchester are willing to release him on a free or for a nominal fee if he is still under contract next season. A lot of ifs involved from all parties but I seriously doubt it will depend on what league we are in though.

He was very good yesterday - made an impact.
I guess it will depend on his consistancy - but could be a very useful player in the run in.

He has a year left on his contract. But think we could get him. He has hardly played a game this season and was injured for 3months before we signed him, so i wouldn't have thought he'd be fit enough to start yet. I'd still start him as a sub and bring on. I'd prefer Maclean Constable and Craddock top 3 to start games.
And think he'd play better in a 442

I think its far too early to say that we would be interested in signing him on a permanent basis.
He looked decent when he came on, but there's plenty of football still to be played and I would like to see a lot more from him.

I was pleased when we signed hackney. Based on the performances from him I saw when he was at carlisle he looked like just what we need. A proper wingher, who runs the line, plays with chalk on his boots and gets the ball forward as quickly as possible before producing a cross or cutting inside and making a tellling pass.
Hopefully he will be the answer to the problem we sometimes have with attacks, espacially counter-attacks, breaking down in the midfield from promising situations.

Wasn't at the game yesturday unfortunately! when Hackney came on was he a straight swap for Midson in the sense he went straight in to the left hand side of our front three?
Seemed pretty decent at Gillingham, but wasn't the type of game where it was played on the deck, and not a good example of the quick passing game we are getting a reputation for. Hackney sounded absolutely awesome from the reports I got from yesturday though! very much looking forward to tuesday night and will hopefully get a chance to see a bit more of him!

Yes he swapped for Midson, although as far as i can see now the front three seem to swap positions all the time during a game. Midson set up the first goal from the right.

Very very impressed by Hackney, looked a class above most on the pitch. And 'losing' the other lad whose name i have already forgotten could prove to be a blessing in disguise -or we probally wouldn't have got Hackney.

What happens if he manages to find himself a better club and is actually really class and ends up being 'the one that got away'?

Yes, promising debut. Pace, delivery and hugs the touchline – proper winger. Though same was said of Nelthorpe. Has till the end of the season to confirm first impressions.
Usual caveat with loan signings. His future is not in our clubs hands.

Wilder seems to have a knack for signing loan players when they play well permanently. While it's too early to tell whether he's as good as he seems, I can't imagine him getting much worse, and hopefully we've got a real asset on our hands.

I'd play hackers tomorrow as it will mix it up with Stevenages physical game, and I have a feeling foster and ashton will be in defence tom and neither like being run at, especially wirth a speed merchant like hackney

Sadly Hackney was totally anonymous last night. Physically he was not able to compete and to my recollection did not once "hug the line" and get the opportunity to cross the ball. Maybe Wilder was trying to see how he could cope in a totally different game but it didn't work out and he wasn't able to give much defensive cover. But it was only one game so let's not be too hasty judge him yet.
