Have I missed something here? When did the North Stand become the Weber BBQ Stand? Just noticed it on www.oufctickets.co.uk.

as far as i can see, they have only sponsored the steps of the North Stand as well as some televisions??? not a bad deal for them to get a stand named after them for that!

Maybe we could see the East and South Stands sponsored in a similar way.
It would be good exposure if the company name is on the official club website "online tickets" portal and on the tickets themselves.
Weber have got themselves a good deal here I reckon.
The club could make some decent money with this.

Whether it's a good deal for Weber or not depends on how much they paid for the privilege, and we don't know the figure, do we?
I wonder what cut of it the landlord takes.

The Oxford Mail did a brilliant job on the club there!
They get naming rights on the stand from day one so that everyone starts calling it the 'Oxford Mail Stand' from the beginning and then they pull the plug on the sponsorship a few years later. As a result, the name sticks and the 'sponsorship' now costs them nothing.
Even if a new name is given to the stand, for many people it will remain as the 'Oxford Mail Stand'.
I do agree that the club should go with something like the 'Twelfth Man Stand', or perhaps name it after a past player/manager. It won't cost that much to knock up a couple of signs and is a nice touch.

surely the reasons are obvious enough... It's Junior, you have to explain things a few times! Oh and I also still call it the Oxford Mail stand - i'm sure they decided to withdraw when Kassam left the club, or am I wrong there?

I thought they withdrew once they realised that some of the sponsorship revenue went to kassam even after he left the club. Someone will be able to clear it up.

The Oxford Mail pulled out of 'official' sponsorship of the stand because its a stadium sponsorship and therefore goes to Firoka to OUFC. They continued to have some sort of relationship with the club about the stand, which was why it carried on being referred to as the Ox Mail on the tickets for a while longer.

No need for insults Junior, especially seeing as you are happy to be my 'mate' off here. I was in the Priory as normal before the Port Vale game and I was expecting to see you, which I didn't. You simply have to come and see me and i'll happily cough up! Now back to the topic...
