The Man-Management style of Wilder is regularly mentioned. How much more benefit of the doubt or chances does the hard-nosed Wilder need to give the lad?
Late for training, late for matches, rumours about his preperation in the run-up to the West Ham game; let alone the problems the club had to deal with on a national basis. That last issue alone showed a great deal of courage from OUFC and KT/CW as they stood by him and took the stick. It is a sackable offence, instant dismissal, in any walk of life.
Sir Alex Ferguson has done too badly with his approach. Beckham, Van Nistelrooy, Stam and plenty of others crossed the line and they too were shipped out.
I think it is an unfair criticism of Wilder because for all we know, he may be putting a shoulder around a number of our players but that side may not get reported as much as finding fault with his style is probably easier to identify.

He is hugely over rated, and has a shocking "big time" attitude. Glad he's gone, the younger players cant stand him.
Hopefully he doesn't come back.

Goodbye Sam And please don't come back. Arrogant p*ss head who holds little respect for anybody or anything - including himself. Shame, as he does have a reasonable talent. Agreed. And his Dad's a horrible, rat-like little cockney f*ck. Thats one of the funniest things i've read on here ;D

Always thought he gave 100% on the pitch... and was never anywhere near our worst player when played. Good luck to him.

Ah, but my comments are not without substance. If you'd had the displeasure of standing behind him in the bar queue in the quadrangle, listening to him and Sam's "girlfriend" spouting disgraceful, vile things about Wilder and the Oxford fans simply for the having the audacity to not play him for the full ninety minutes, then you'd have cast a similar opinion. With the contributions from the likes of Moobs et al, I'm amazed you think that it's me that's bringing the general quality of the forum down. Still, you replied to it.

Good luck to Deering, hopefully he'll get a run out at Barnet with more starting appearances.

A spell at a league club that is struggling with form and money could help him readjust his attitude. The lad has talent, but is no longer the big fish in a small pond. He has to perform over 90 minutes and realise he's not made it yet. He's just another young lad with talent. Plenty never grow from that tag. Unfortunately, this was said both times he went to Newport, apart from ‘the league club’ bit . Still, good luck to him proving the doubters wrong. My own reactions are mixed, even torn. As our longest (concurrently) serving player, most recent youth teamer to start for the first team, creator in one of the best moments of my life (the third goal with Alfie if you were wondering) and his all-round impishness, there are a lot of reasons to be fond of LSD. Practically though, there is no place for any player who neither fits in with a mangers formation or standards of behaviour. If he is more settled in London and performs for Barnet, the club has done the right thing. However, if we have seen the last of him in an Oxford shirt, I hope suitable replacements can be found. For it is unwise, even unsustainable, for a club to be only the sum of the current manager’s recruits. Bringing on, not just bringing in, is essential. For now more eyes will fall on Woodley.

I don't care too much about the character of the player nor his family so long as they perform on the pitch. I'm afraid that I think Sam generally flatters to decieve and is not as good as he thinks but if he goes on loan, takes it as an opportunity to learn and gain experience, then comes back and plays fantastically for us I will be more than happy.

Deering became a bit of a fan favourite because he broke in to a poor team and was quite a flashy player for that league.
The team improved under Wilder and to be fair to him he gave Deering every chance to prove that he was professional enough on and off the pitch to make it. He quite simply hasnt. Its a shame because he has flashes of brilliance.
Wish him the best for the future but its no great loss to us.
