I'd be surprised if we see him in an Oxford shirt again.

Will be surprised if he plays for us again. He will most likely be off permanently in the summer.
Over rated anyway..

it doesn't vary by division - there is no rule to say a player cannot play against his parent team.
It's up to the two clubs to agree terms. We obviously don't want Deering to play against us. However Arsenal allowed Sanchez Watt to play against them for Leeds earlier this season.

Much closer to home for him! Think his Oxford career may be over though, but best of luck to him. Here's hoping he can do us a few favours for the playoffs.

He is over rated.. Only reason he looked good when he first got in the side, is because he could do a few step overs and run at players when the rest of the team we had back then were useless.

Goodbye Sam
And please don't come back.
Arrogant p*ss head who holds little respect for anybody or anything - including himself.
Shame, as he does have a reasonable talent.

Is it too much to ask that we can't just wish the young man good luck? The tendancy to slag off any players moving on is often quite pathetic......
A good player potentially but he's had limited opportunities this season so understandable that the club put him out on loan again...

Really cannot see where Sam can fit into the current set up. With the arrival of Hackney, who has serious pace, I doubt we will see Sam in an Oxford shirt again. However, Fairclough obviously rates Sam as he had him in the England C squad and could be a good a manager for Sam.

I don't understand this, his name seems to have been tarnished because of a few rumours or the turning up late incident. People's view of him is based on assumption. When Wilder first arrived he was our best player, Wilder even said so himself. Is his demise 100% his fault? I'm not convinced....

He thinks he's the bigman around the club, his attitude around the youth players is shocking so I've heard. They cant stand him

Can't say I'm impressed with some of the comments here.
Sam is a player that shows great tenacity and endless energy. He does have some skill and a lot of potential. His ability to terrorise opposing teams is very useful. Some his performance for the reserves have been very good indeed if you read the reports. Yes he is young and by all reports not the brightest tool in the box but this just means he needs careful handling then hopefully he would mature into a very good layer indeed.
The question is does he fit in our formation and the answer is maybe no. Also we know Wilder is not exactly the nurturing and understanding type so maybe he is not the right manager to get the best from Sam.
For one I have high hopes for Sam and I hope that he will fulfil his potential with us. I would be sad if we let Sam leave before we are sure his attitude is a terminal problem.

Deering seems to divide opinion the same way as Midson does. IMO LSD flatters to deceive. He runs about a lot without actually producing anything, bit like Yemi. But having said that, I wish him all the best at Barnet.

There are plenty of justified reasons why people are criticising him.
Failing to turn up on time for matches/team coach which is totally disrepectful to his team-mates and manager, let alone the fans.
His behaviour on Facebook which whilst he and the club issued an apology hit the national media and brought the club and player into disrepute.
His general attitude which has been mentioned above. The inability to take his chances when given them.
He has, over and above that, been a disappoiting player in the recent pass. He comes on, lights up for five minutes and then goes missing. Flattered to deceive is an under-statement and he will only be remembered for a few good contributions, the third Wembley goal and a good performance away at Mansfield.

good debate this
and an interesting one into the psyche of the football fan with regard to how much they are willing to forgive about a player
in deering's case it is a racial slur (i'd have sacked him for that alone by the way), being late for matches (that's no rumour, confirmed by CW) and generally having a questionable attitude
but because he has shown a modicum of ability, there is criticism that that the manager is not handling him correctly
personally, i think the bare minimum a player should show is a desire to do well for himself and then his teammates.
save all the bull about 'pride in the shirt'. yes as much as it would be nice to think they are trying for the fans, they are professionals and they look after No 1 first and then the guys sitting next to him in the change room
Deering seems incapable of doing it for himself, let alone his teammates or, laughably, the fans
good riddance

Don't get me wrong socrates I'm not saying Wilder has not handled him properly, mealy that Wilder's style of management does not suit the handling of difficult players like Sam. with Wilder its my way or the highway yet others take a more softly softly approach to very young players.
Now I'm not saying that Deering should be allowed to turn up late or cause trouble. He has to be properly disciplined, as he has been. I'm not sure getting rid though is not throwing the baby out with the bathwater.
Another player just like Sam was Craig Davies. Who was great under one manager and awful under the next. Yet now it seems he has finally learnt his lesson and is having a great season.

A spell at a league club that is struggling with form and money could help him readjust his attitude. The lad has talent, but is no longer the big fish in a small pond. He has to perform over 90 minutes and realise he's not made it yet.
He's just another young lad with talent. Plenty never grow from that tag.
