I disagree, we don't need an outside identity for our ground. Grenoble Road or Minchery Farm. Just call it what it is, it doesn't need an 'identity' tacked onto it, it will gain one over time as it becomes more like 'home'. Either of those is true, and is us.

When the ground was first called the Manor, the club had no connection to the word 'Manor' I think isis is beautiful, fits ours originas and our city, and works nicely. In that case I hope i win the Euro Millions / Lotto before you do

Forgot to post this the other day. Stadco published their accounts last week and said the depreciated cost of the stadium (about 9MM from memory) was not materially different from it's current market value. Has anyone told WPL this?

I am not suggesting we name the stadium after a city in France. I am suggesting it is named after the road it is on, like football grounds often used to be in this country. These days clubs are naming everything Arena or Stadium, which im not so keen on. The New Manor would be fine with me. Afterall it was the suggestion which one the competition in the early 90's.

The irony of all this is that if we'd just built a new stadium in Headington, the idea of naming it after a manor house would be absolutely slated!

Minchery Farm is good.
I still like the idea of getting Mini (BMW cars) to sponsor the ground and calling it 'The Mini Stadium' or something, nice play on words and also Minis are an Oxford thing.

The Kassam isn't very hostile at the moment. I think with our name we could increase our hostility. Screw the family club and just name our stadium - 'Hells gate' or 'Purgatory' or even 'The away team are shit arena'.

OTID While this is a good idea, I feel with a new stadium it should not have a stand the looks too much to the past. So lets call it 'The Beano Stand' when it is built he will have guided us into the Championship and will be our all time top scorer.

Decent Oxford people have a respect for what the university has done for the city and likewise decent Oxford students respect the fact that there is more to the city than the uni. Those who don't - on both sides - are the tw#ts in my opinion. "Isis" is used by the university, but so is the word "Oxford" Should we drop that from our name? Great post

How about Manor Park, or play with the words of Isis Manor Park. I loved the Manor, I went their from the late seventies on wards, so the word Manor has to be there somewhere. Hope this helps. PS Scummers got relegated ha ha.

In reality, all the talk about new names for the stadium is fanciful, as the first thing WPL would do upon securing the stadium would be to sell naming rights to the highest bidder.
The Bridle stadium anyone?
