I listened to the match on the radio, and they said it was never a red card.
I heard the post-match interview with Wilder when he said it was never a red card, and that Grant had dived.
Then I saw the BBC Oxford News highlights, and saw that it was definitely a red card. Horrible tackle.

I only saw it on the highlights but i think it looked like a red, but i guess plenty of refs would have just shown a yellow.

Wilder is an idiot, you don't call people cheats in a post match interview, he could get a touchline ban

>picasso..did he actually say Grant dived?...put the quote up m8 I may have missed it. Wilder did say 55 secs in on the YP interview - "my boys don't rollover the ground to get people sent off and I think the boy Grant's done that tonight"
I was there but given where the away fans were allocated no-one in that North Stand had a good view. It was a poor, late, rash/mistimed tackle but the guy Grant certainly made a meal of it ...as if he'd lost a limb..then got up after a few mins and carried on playing with no ill-effects. That is what Wilder is saying..not that he dived per se..he clearly got caught by Battman..but that his histrionics & playacting swayed the ref. It was a Yellow card for sure..maybe it was even a red ...but the point is I can't find in Wilder's interview where he says Grant "dived"..I believe he knows Batt caught Grant..he's saying he made a meal of it.
p.s. the ref was very poor..I believe that he had given 85 yellow cards and 4 reds in the preceding 22 games..so he certainly kept his average up!

yeah as I said he wasnt referring to the incident with Batt but all the other histrionics and play acting that Grant got involved in. Interesting that one of their fans before the game reckoned Grant thinks he is the dude and is possibly getting to believe his own hype! So fuckin' pleased those shrimpers lost at home today..so pleased!!

I didn't transcribe Wilder's interview at the time so I don't have any quotes. If he didn't directly call him a diver then he certainly inferred it, and also said something about it coming back around to bite Grant on the arse. Presumably the YP interview will be different to the post-match on Radio Ox.
They didn't show Grant's reaction on the highlights, just the challenge, which for me would easily be enough to show a red because of his speed and recklessness.

Grant looks to have taken another dive and won Southend a penalty in their win over Wycombe this week.
