That was excellent, a very enjoyable read. Veggie Burger? The point about the kits is a valid one. A very ill thought out decision. YELLOW next season please I'm driving from South London / Surrey to Gillingham if anyone needs a lift....

Yes, a good read ZTH. On the kits, we have played in seven (eight if you include the 'poppy' kit) different combinations... so far! That must be a record. www.oxkits.co.uk/2010s.htm#2010

"Now I've had a bit of a rant about the various strips before, and tonight we wore all white, but with light blue socks. It looked awful. Whatever the 'home' kit is next year (yellow shirts please!) can we have an away kit that is significantly different, so that we don't end up with this random mishmash of bits of kit? It's not rocket science, just look at the home kits of the other clubs in the league and pick 'away' colours that means we can wear one of our two strips in every match. It looked very unprofessional indeed."
Nail. Head. On.

The away kit for every team should be pink.
Problem solved.

The away kit for every team should be pink. Problem solved. On a serious note, Everton's pink away kit has been a huge commercial success.

It is a sort of logical idea though. Pick a colour/design no team in the division wears - purple, pink, green, black, harlequin, hoops for example. Designate that the 'secondary/away' colour for that season/league for every team. No team is allowed the secondary colour in their primary strip. If there's no clash, you wear your primary 'home' strip. If there is a clash you know you'll be able to wear the other kit.
Simple. Boring, but simple!
Thanks for all the nice comments. Glad the blog is being read and enjoyed.

What annoys me is how we never wear yellow away. Is anyone actually more likely to buy the away kit if we wear it every other week than if we only wear it when there's a clash?

If you brand it as an "away kit" then you open yourselves up to massive scrutiny from trading standards. If you don't wear it in the majority of your away games then anyone who has bought the kit has a claim for false advertising. Sad but true.
If you brand it as a "second kit" however, you're pretty much free to do what you want.

Surely its simple
Light home kit = dark away kit of a different colour
This years away should have remained white and no problem would exist
Next year assuming we have a yellow home kit then have a dark blue away kit
Its really not that difficult is it................unless you go for the stupid home kit we have and give yourself a problem

A worthy read.
On the kit front. Best wait till Nike unveil their teamwear options for next season before stating what we should or shouldn’t have. Principally in favour of an all white second strip. The present light blue is horrible. Everton’s pink would be an improvement

Do we have any stats on how many of us there were down there? 365 according to the OUFC site and that sounds about right.

Glad you had a good night out ZTH and Scoob! (The engagement party was a bit poor....) Apart from most of the game I also enjoyed the trip in good company. We were talking about my away record and I think I may be a bad omen so may have to give up travelling away: This season it is: Won 1 Drawn 2 Lost 4 (Includes West Ham) Last season it was: Won 0 Drawn 6 Lost 5 (excluding Wembley) Previous season it was slightly better: Won 3 Drawn 2 Lost 2
