Deering seems more direct, comfortable on the ball and just mote likely to score or set up a goal.

I like Potters direct running when he gets at the heart of the defence. A great example of this was just before he scored at Wembley, he ran at the centrebacks, drew them in and slipped the ball through to Beano who unfortunately blasted it wide. When he's on form he is a very good player. He's still very young and will only get better

At no point this season has he been bad. Frustrating, yes, lacking a final ball, but not bad. He has also been excellent at various points, against Port Vale and even Aldershot he was terrific, and has added a lot as a substitute. Isn't quite there and really doesn't look like a starter, but he's 21 I believe. Not useless in the slightest.
Deering is worth keeping around, he's a giant hit in the reserves and was very good in the BSP. Someone his age will be able to adapt to league football I imagine, potentially excellent attack-minded playmaker, but at the moment in league matches he offers less than Potter, he just can't seem to pull anything off.

Potter > Deering
I do like Sam as he came through the youth etc, but really he doesnt really do an awful lot when he gets his chance - he runs around a lot, does that sideways running action when closing down players, but on the ball Potter is much more effective than Deering is. Potter could be/will be much better as he gets older - he is still young remember - he is quite raw at the moment.

Potter is a good player. He can also finish well to. IMO he is one of around 8 players who is capable of playing in the league above.

I feel that Potter and deering both need to calm down a little and take stock of what they are doing when they are on the pitch. They both have fantastic pace but they need to combine that with a little more football nouse when they get the ball. Hopefully they will both learn this with age and they could still become very good players.
Frustrating, Yes. Young and inexperience, yes. Useless, definitely not!

After 2days sub 'performance' i rest my case..... Pretty pathetic you were obviously dieing for him to play badly today so you could post this.. He's a 21 year old kid ffs, who has that touch of class about him IMO, give him time and he'll develop into a quality player.. Doesn't need people like you hoping he'll have a mare every time he plays

To be fair i think Potter has many faults as well. I think he is very frustrating at times. However, he is very young and he will develop into a much better player.

I think this is all very unfair on Alfie. Sure sometimes he runs down blind alleys but he has bags of skill and beats defenders pretty easily. I don't think he is actually particularly quick...
Really promising young player who will only get better.

I like him because he gives nothing less than 100% each and every time he steps onto the pitch. Sure, he doesn't always have a final ball, but he's still one of the only players in the team who can go past three or four members of the opposition and cause panic.

Really promising young player who will only get better. Spot on. The opening post is frankly laughable. Alfie will only get better and is already an important part of the squad which is why CW signed him permanently and uses him regularly. Alfie can change a game with his runs and he causes different problems for the opposition, compared to the other players we have. He is the sort of player that gets the crowd off its feet doing something different. He makes mistakes (just like every other L2 player will) and the final ball can be lacking but the squad and our match-day options would be far weaker without him as part of it. As for Sam Deering, he has a lot of potential but he has to work very hard to force his way fully back into CW's 1st team plans. Furthermore, CW is spot on in using Alfie ahead of LSD.

Frustrating at times, like when he's on a run, beats the man but leaves the ball behind, or end products not quite there.
Useless, only at hayes & Yeading away, that day he was shit, ok they all were, but he was awful, improved so much since that day
LOVE TO SEE HIM RUNNING AT DEFENDERS

He has had his poor moments this season, but as has been said, he is still only a very young player, and still learning. He gives his all every time he plays, and for that gets my respect.
