I think as much as the defenders may have struggled and the clean sheets we have not kept. Today's game was as much about the rub of the green. A decent ref may have sent that other CAANT off or may have allowed the goal. Potter could have perhaps gone down. We still are right on the play offs. Look what happened after the last Southend game, we took out the performance on plenty of teams. We didn't have the luck the defence need to buck up a bit but I know one thing Wilder and Lewis will be making sure no other bunch of Fu@kers gets a win like that. I BELIEVE I BELIEVE

Have we got a specialist defensive coach? Melville is the first team coach and Mickey the assistant manager. Who is our defensive coach? Timmy Mallett Cheers, just had a good old belly laugh at that

I've thought for some time that we wouldn't make the play-offs. Mainly because of the dodgy defence. 23 games without a clean sheet more or less confirms that doubt. All we can do is keep on competing and hope Wilder can bring in some better defenders for next season. CB's are fine I think, not sure about the fullbacks though. Well we will see with batt banned I presume purkiss will play?

Agree with that, there great going forward but a little suspect at defending. Personal mistakes are happening far to frequently at the minute. But to be honest if we can get a big clean sheet ( either gillingham or rotherham) then hopefully that will give us the confidence to get a few more

Simply not good enough for a promotion push. Tactics, to counter act Southend were non existant. wilder needs to talk to his defensive coach to find out wtf is going on. Have we got a specialist defensive coach? Melville is the first team coach and Mickey the assistant manager. Who is our defensive coach? Wilder has said before that Hodge takes Clarke and East, Melville defence, Lewis Mid and CW takes the strikers

Didn't know that, sounds a bit funny i thought Wilder managed the team but now i am finding out he is our striker coach! This is our problem we are not training together.

I heard Wilder say that himself, Melville and Lewis can work with the defence and midfield, and that between them, they have enough knowledge to work with the strikers

.....well the Conference this 'aint of course. Still the most exciting season for many a year.......easy to get the 'ump when we lose but we are still in there fighting.
As we go higher up the league, our exisiting players have to up their game - some will find it more difficult than others but up their game they must if we are to go higher still.
Nit picking, I think Wright is too small for a central defender - an excellent player no doubt.....wonder if he could be converted to a mid-fielder?
Enjoy the ride I say............

Would agree, he can play at center back but needs a dominant in the air monster next to him.

I think Wilder assumes the defensive, Midfield and attacking coaching roles in a, sort of, general manager role.

Someone Like Mark Creighton perhaps? Yep. Creighton just wasn't quick enough for me. Loved his aggression and commitment but he was easily skinned or turned. Aldershot away in the JPT and Bradford away, where he was completely done for pace by their target man for the penalty, highlighted that. Worley is the exact same size as Creighton and should therefore be more than adequate in the air to compliment Wright, which I do think he is a lot of the time, but I have no idea what the problem is. It's a bit of a doozy.

I do like the idea of converting wright into a midfielder. He is a class act, very composed, can pick a pass and is clearly great at tackling and intercepting. He's just a little vulnerable in the air. Im thinking he's a left footer so he could slot into the left hand side of the 3 midfielders and let big sangare (or even gaughan, how good in the air is he?) play CB. Doubt this will happen but could be an idea!
