Hi, I'm the pre-match reporter for the Port Vale Fans Forum One Vale Fan. Part of my role is to contact fans of our forthcoming opponents to ask them a few questions and gain their views on the upcoming fixture between our sides in order to produce a report which we release on the site prior to the game. I wondered if one or more of you (up to a maximum of 3 or 4) have a few minutes and would be prepared to share a few views if you would kindly offer your feelings on the game by answering the following few questions; 1. Tell us a little about yourself & history as a fan?
2. How do you expect your team to do in the Cup’s this season?
3. Who should we watch out for in your squad (one or more danger player/s)?
4. What is your favourite Cup moment and (if different) goal of all time relating to your team?
5. Can you tell us up to 3 quirky things opposing fans might not know about your team?
6. Our fans love to read opposing team’s forums and blogs, any recommendations on the best of these for your team?
7. Who do you most fear as the danger players from the Vale squad?
8. Do you have any memories of previous clashes between your team and the Vale?
9. A score prediction (and potential scorers for both sides) and what do you expect your away following to be? Please also feel free to include any other information you feel worthy and I will knock it into a report as per the example below regarding contribution from Carlisle fans from a game with them; www.onevalefan.co.uk/2016/08/carlisle-fans-can-vales-foreign-legion-perform-at-carlisle-on-a-tuesday-night/To enable me to produce this in good time I need a reply by Wednesday and the report should appear on the website a day or two before our fixture. Please also let me know if you would like me to include your name on the article. Many thanks for your potential support in this matter. Best Regards, REP

Shit time for a kick off and so disrespectful of fans who would have like to have gone. I think we all agree on that, blame the greed of the Premier League and their disregard for the 72 other clubs that make english football great. Another very valid reason to dislike Stoke if you don't already

And Matt Greens winner straight from kick off in injury time after the Vale had just equalised. Oh and rubbing it in to the few Vale idiots who were corralled by the OB outside Frankies

We were winning they scored in extra time their rams spilled over advertising board went back to their seats kick of the ball played forward Greens was to the left of their goal can’t remember who assisted but Played the ball to Greens and he bent it round the keeper In to the right side of the goal and more or less along the deck, and then total delirium

For some reason it stayed wrong on the vidiprinter and match reports for some time after. Last game at The Manor was against Port Vale. Andy Scott was the last U’s player to score there and Tony Naylor the last to score overall.

Hope I've quoted this right - technofear 1. Tell us a little about yourself & history as a fan?
First visit to The Manor was in 1985. 13 home wins in a row and my first game we lost to Blackburn. My mates banned me from going again but I did anyway and we subsequently lost the next home game as well (to Birmingham). It got better though.
2. How do you expect your team to do in the Cup’s this season?
Hope for a plum third round draw in the FA cup, but League all important for me. Less said about the League Cup the better. Checkatrade an absolute joke.
3. Who should we watch out for in your squad (one or more danger player/s)?
Payne, Payne will tear you apart, again
4. What is your favourite Cup moment and (if different) goal of all time relating to your team?
1986 all day long (Hebberd's goal). In recent years though, beating Swansea and Newcastle over the last couple of seasons was very enjoyable!
5. Can you tell us up to 3 quirky things opposing fans might not know about your team?
From Sweden and Spain,we'll Google their names......
6. Our fans love to read opposing team’s forums and blogs, any recommendations on the best of these for your team?
Your on it
7. Who do you most fear as the danger players from the Vale squad?
Pope, I guess. Although Barnett (at Vale I think?) had his moments for Us
8. Do you have any memories of previous clashes between your team and the Vale?
Leven scoring from half way. Have a vague recollection of Sean Rigg getting a fair bit of grief at Vale after he signed for Us
9. A score prediction (and potential scorers for both sides) and what do you expect your away following to be?
Away support for Us has been superb this season, as ever. But given the date, time and context maybe 400? Not going to predict a score.

Tell us a little about yourself & history as a fan? Oxford born and bred, first game was vs Man Utd with Best etc playing, we lost. Choice made 4life to paraphrase Richie James. Now in ST4, bandit country
2. How do you expect your team to do in the Cup’s this season? Knocked out in the first round of the milk cup, and 3rd round of the FA cup
3. Who should we watch out for in your squad (one or more danger player/s)? Depends who's having a good day, but many options
4. What is your favourite Cup moment and (if different) goal of all time relating to your team? Leeds, Newcastle and Man Utd in rapid succession. Goal? The 3rd in 86.
5. Can you tell us up to 3 quirky things opposing fans might not know about your team? We once played a game dressed as morris dancers, a team selection oncefeatured 7 players with a fishy name including Mike Salmon, Kevin Perch, Bob Pike, Jimmy Talbot, and a Japanese international called Koi Foo Kah, we won a game once with 5 headed goals
6. Our fans love to read opposing team’s forums and blogs, any recommendations on the best of these for your team? You're here. Avoid facebook
7. Who do you most fear as the danger players from the Vale squad? Errrrrrr.....
8. Do you have any memories of previous clashes between your team and the Vale? Its always cold, it's always dull, we lose too often, I'm home in 20 minutes, you always want to give us a slap but you hate Shrewsbury more, you smashed us on TV, Wembley of the North my arse
9. A score prediction (and potential scorers for both sides) and what do you expect your away following to be? 0-1, don't know, 267 Friday night in Burslem ain't attractive Please also feel free to include any other information you feel worthy and I will knock it into a report as per the example below regarding contribution from Carlisle fans from a game with them; www.onevalefan.co.uk/2016/08/carlisle-fans-can-vales-foreign-legion-perform-at-carlisle-on-a-tuesday-night/To enable me to produce this in good time I need a reply by Wednesday and the report should appear on the website a day or two before our fixture. I think the OP has answers of sorts and this combined with some online research would probably be sufficient. I find question 1 a bit strange though for a pre-match report. How can an individual fan (or 2) experience be worth including? It would be interesting to see answers from the Vale perspective on Friday's meeting. Doing that first might have elicited a better response. Edit: Just read the Carlisle report and think REP needs more material...! The 3 Carlisle fans were very helpful.

The guy responded and even managed to make a joke of it. What is the world coming to? Next we'll be sending letters of apology to Leyton Orient. Oh, and I hope you respond like this if a Swindon fan writes a similar post in the future.

Hi, Oooh, this is quite exciting, never done one of these before. I'm the pre-match reporter for the Port Vale Fans Forum One Vale Fan.
First attended a pre-season friendly in '83. Season ticket holder on and off. (Currently on) Away day traveller on and off. (Currently mostly off)
2. How do you expect your team to do in the Cup’s this season?
An early exit has severely hampered our chances in the league cup. We have an excellent chance of exiting the FA Cup in the first round too.
3. Who should we watch out for in your squad (one or more danger player/s)?
Could be anyone. Keep an eye on our left back, he's fun.
4. What is your favourite Cup moment and (if different) goal of all time relating to your team?
Milk Cup 86 of course. For goal though I'll mention Jefferson Louis' wonderstrike(!) against the scum. It set up a 3rd round tie at Arsenal (which we knew beforehand) and Jefferson, being an Arsenal fan, proceeded to go 'running round the telly with his willy hanging out'. Jefferson Louis was a real rarity in the modern game. A real 'one club' player. One club a week that is. It was f*cking freezing that day. Oh, and it led to 7 in a row.
5. Can you tell us up to 3 quirky things opposing fans might not know about your team?
Along with Exeter we are the only 6-lettered team in the league where the second letter is X.
Timmy Mallet is our manager. Or something.
We, as a forum, voted brexit.
6. Our fans love to read opposing team’s forums and blogs, any recommendations on the best of these for your team?
Paul Beesley writes a superb piece for Rageonline. Please do check that out. Otherwise this place is the life and soul.
7. Who do you most fear as the danger players from the Vale squad?
Sorry, I've really not been paying attention.
8. Do you have any memories of previous clashes between your team and the Vale?
Not really. Those already alluded to I supose; Leven wonderstrike and 90th minute ding-dong.
9. A score prediction (and potential scorers for both sides) and what do you expect your away following to be?
About 400. Maybe 2-0 to Vale. Don't have a clue though. Please also feel free to include any other information you feel worthy and I will knock it into a report as per the example below regarding contribution from Carlisle fans from a game with them; www.onevalefan.co.uk/2016/08/carlisle-fans-can-vales-foreign-legion-perform-at-carlisle-on-a-tuesday-night/I hqve nothing further to add. 1. Tell us a little about yourself & history as a fan?
My first match was Oxford 2 Middlesbrough 2 in May 1971, so I am regarded in the wider OUFC community as the best OUFC fan around. (Please seek confirmation of this from poster 'mcf86'.)
2. How do you expect your team to do in the Cup’s this season?
I refuse to answer on the basis that you have used an unnecessary apostrophe. Tut, tut.
3. Who should we watch out for in your squad (one or more danger player/s)?
Performance depends what they feel like, but Ricardinho is a bit special.
4. What is your favourite Cup moment and (if different) goal of all time relating to your team?
Cup moment: thrashing QPR at Wembley. Goal: can't remember. Lots of them.
5. Can you tell us up to 3 quirky things opposing fans might not know about your team?
1. Jack Midson has left. 2. Rob Duffy was not a great goalscorer because they were mostly penalties. 3. We could do with a James Constable this season. (Doesn't necessarily refer to the current team).
6. Our fans love to read opposing team’s forums and blogs, any recommendations on the best of these for your team?
We have three. 'Yellows' (this one) is the most popular. 'Rage Online' is a bit more intellectual but has low posting levels. 'Yellow Voice' was founded as an alternative to Yellows, but disappeared without trace .... or did it?
7. Who do you most fear as the danger players from the Vale squad?
Don't know any of them. Sorry.
8. Do you have any memories of previous clashes between your team and the Vale?
I remember the homoerotic dancing of your fans under the concourse at half time during the Peter Leven wonder goal match. (This was kindly put on YouTube for extended ridicule).
9. A score prediction (and potential scorers for both sides) and what do you expect your away following to be? Draw. Shit journey on a Friday night, so 240 Oxford fans.

I think Green set it up and Tom Craddock scored. For some reason it stayed wrong on the vidiprinter and match reports for some time after. Last game at The Manor was against Port Vale. Andy Scott was the last U’s player to score there and Tony Naylor the last to score overall. Pretty sure Tom Craddock did an elastico whilst running down the left wing in that game. Best piece of skill I've seen from an Oxford player apart from Steven Maclean standing on the ball away at Torquay.
