He's the closest we've had to a legend recently.

He's the closest we've had to a legend recently. Beano scored more goals for us than any other player (no reason to expunge the three "missing" goals from our record), and he's not simply "the closest to a legend"--he IS a legend. Jon

It's a shame that Eastleigh are struggling this season. Also paying out for the Chester postponement.

He was class for us at a time when we watched some horrendous players pull on the yellow shirt. Shame, as it seems he is on fringes of Eastleigh first team now. Turned 33 the other day so coming towards the end of his career where he can make some decent money. Will always remember him from fondly.

Jon And he turned down Swindon...even when they were probably doubling (at least) his wage...this surely gives him legendary status?

A legend for a few reasons.
For me one of the things that stands out for me about Beano was the fact he seemed to really care about the club and that he appreciated the relationship he had with the fans.
He turned down opportunities with Bournemouth and Swindon, both of whom would have significantly increased his wages. Bumped into him a couple of times at games since he left and he has always been happy to have a photo and chat. A class act.

Absolute legend!
I just wish that these players coming back for games would get introduced to the crowd just before kick-off and not at half time when half the crowd are not in the stands. Especially for Beano

As you say, 'Especially for Beano' - pretty sure it would wake a few up!!

Surely the best time to introduce them would be about 17 minutes in. So those who got delayed in the pub can see him and those popping back to the pub after the first half hour can also enjoy the experience

Definitely a legend, there's no debate there. Dunno if others would agree but it got to the point where if he scored, the fans would get a bigger lift than if anyone else in the team had scored. Almost as if the goal was better simply because it was Beano's.
Ricardinho's goal on Saturday was a bit like that actually I thought, not that he's a legend here or anything, but becoming a fan favourite at least I guess. I'd think probably though that because fans expect goals from forwards and not really from left backs it would take longer for fans to react that way towards a striker, which maybe makes Beano's impact at the club all the more impressive.

Slight misunderstanding over who will be 'guesting' on tues, Rosie believes it's Whingy! We'll just have to wait and see I suppose!

Fully agree.. If confirmed, it'll see my first home game of the season. The bloke bleeds yellow and blue.
