More than deserves this and well done whoever put him forward, G.B.T for pressing the club on it and the club for reacting to it and making it happen. I posted the other week about how Rambo was in the lounge pre match, and how he came across as pretty indifferent to football, didn't really worry about keeping up with the game or team mates and how he thinks he should have been a rugby league player instead. Robbo was in the Lounge yesterday and was fantastic. He spoke so warmly about the club and city. All he wanted to do was play football and when he got the move here he loved the place. He beamed when he talked about Oxford and choked up a little when saying how he enjoyed his last couple of years back at Macclesfield because his poorly father could come and watch him play. After he finished playing he wanted to move back down to Oxford but the closest he could afford was Daventry. He didn't like it but moved just to be closer to Oxford again and then when house prices picked up in Daventry he got to move to Banbury which he beamed at because he was back 'home'. He now works with autistic children and often brings them to Oxford to see games and get involved at half time. Again he spoke with genuine enthusiasm about this.
I have seen so many disinterested ex players trot out a few lines pre match then walk off to find a bar. Les was an impressive player who served the club magnificently but seems like an even more impressive human being.
These are the players that testimonials were made for.
