Strange days indeed. Costa is still holding Chelsea to ransom. Sanchez has slapped in a transfer request. Barkley had a medical meltdown and ran home to everton. Sakho deal to west ham crashes. Coutinho bleats for Barca. What a bunch!

Enforcers east the club have said about young pl this season... All about money Eh? OK. I've been here long enough now to attempt a Bazzer to English translation … "Enforces what the club have said about young PL (players) this season". It's his fat fingers / small phone combo apparently. That and the fact he CBA to proofread before hitting "send".

Does anybody think that Liverpool, Arsenal and Southampton refusing to sell their players is a good things?
Maybe when players sign a new long term contract they may realise that they can't simply move the following year if they get a better offer by refusing to train?

I agree. Once a player signs a contract to play for a club, then he really should honour that contract. After all, by signing it, you would think that he would be happy with the wage offered, and his role at the club. The only way that the contract should be broken is when both club and player agree it ideally, or one party has broken the terms of that contract. What we have now are very loose contracts that no-one has any respect for and is routinely ignored.

I fully applaud Liverpool, Arsenal and Southampton for sticking to their guns. I don't really like seeing players having a sulk because the club won't release them from their contract and sell them to Barca, Chelsea, Man City or whoever comes a knocking. They were more than happy to sign their 100K+ a week contract for 5 years, so how about they honour it? If they think a big club might come a knocking, then they should have got their agent to negotiate a release clause, like Jamie Vardy did.
To be fair, I think Sanchez and Coutinho have been quite diginified in how they hanndled it, but Virgil van Dijk has been acting like a bit of a dick.

As in the team who accepted a bid for sanchez from man city which they only blocked because lemar wouldnt join them? They're also going to lose him for nout in the summer so not much to applaud imo How they constantly allow their star players to run down their contracts and hold the club to ransom completely baffles me

Arsenal's acceptance of the deal was totally on the proviso that they would have a replacement joining them. The Lemar deal fell through, so Sanchez stayed put. So yes, Arsenal stick to their guns. The point I am making is that Arsenal would not be dictated to by Sanchez. However, is it wise to let a player in the last year of his contract remain at the club after the transfer window shuts? That remains to be seen. If they get Champions League football, the money that can generate will make up for a loss of £50mil, and for all we know that might be enough to convince Sanchez to stay. But on the evidence I've seen so far, Champions League football certainly doesn't look like it will be a formality.
