Could we now see 3 at the back with Moushino signing?
Eastwood Moushino, Nelson, Williamson Riberio, Mowatt, Ledson, Silva Payne, Henry Obika

I wonder if Nelsons knock is worse than we imagine..
The club are often quiet about the severity of such..

I think Pep said it wasn't too bad but I doubt he will be risked on Saturday so will play Williamson and Moushino at the back against MK. I think Mowatt will start on the bench as I don't think he will get down to Oxford until today since it was clear with the lack of interviews and pictures that he was actually at the club yesterday.

I think Mousinho's cover for the back 2 till Raglan recovers and then we will have 4 decent options. Not much of a vote of confidence for A Martin.

Looking at the squad now it could possibly be three in the middle of the park as well and two wing backs.

I am worried about Nelson. DK suggested that it was the knee that they were worried about and he was going for a scan... Either they are worried that martin is nowhere near good enough back up or ..

I think Nelson is injured AND they don't think Martin can be trusted. Even with Mousinho in we still need Williamson fit to keep Martin out of the side, and that's not a given.
Hopefully CN will miss a game or two max and be fine, but it sounds like in Mousinho we have a very decent defender and more importantly, another good leader and organiser at the back.

Good News! The Nelson injury isn't serious and he is in the squad at the weekend. Would imagine they will rest him anyway as a precaution and he will be back for the Gillingham game.

He trained with Barnsley yesterday morning and traveled down , so not that clear 😉

In moushinos interview he said he left burton as hed been told that he wouldnt be a starter. So, youd presume that hes been told that there is a place for him in our starting 11 or else why come? Playing 3 CBs would seem logical, As I cant see Williamson or Nelson losing there places any time soon

Experienced player who played most of his career at Centre mid, before recently moving to centre back. Gives us more options. May well be required immediately to cover for Nelson. 👍

3 at the back could easily happen under Pep. Generally you do need pace in the back. But with our growing range of options you could easiliy see combinations of Williamson, Nelson, mousinho, Ribeiro, Martin & eventually Raglan. Personally wouldn't be surprised to see us try this approach. Of course if we go on a run with current shape all bets are off.

I popped on to create a post about playing Williamson, Nelson and Mousinho together in a back three - beaten me to it.
I definitely think we should give it a go....
--------------- Eastwood---------------
---------Moushino-----Williamson------

Ribeiro----------------------------Silva
-----------------Ledson----------------
---Hall-----------Payne------Mowatt---

It might work away, adding numbers to the defence and midfield when needed, but at home I think we have enough to be a lot more attacking than that. Ribs and silva ain't attacking wing backs so leave us a little short on pace going forward, with less option for Payne to find. The lone striker and the number ten behind both are there to create for other and almost rely on players like hall and Gino breaking through the defensive to lay balls into their path

Today would be the best for it in my opinion, because we have 2 home games in a row.

I know opposition probably wouldn't be strongest but would allow defence to get a feel for the system

Or just stick with a system that mapp and pep both seems to suit us and works well

Or just stick with a system that mapp and pep both seems to suit us and works well I would personally look at playing 3 at the back on Tuesday. Bradford will be a tough test and I think against a side like Bradford would do us better than a back 4.

Just don't think we will. Pep seems to have a decent formation that works, we have players that can swap and change in it. Think we will stick with it, it's working. Even against Shrewsbury who are flying we did well. Aim to score more than u concede, we have the players to do that

A back 3 that has never played together for the first time against second in the table, I doubt that.

I think Possibly a 3 5 2 has the be looked at as an alternative I'm not t totally convinced on a lone striker

Pep has some interesting decisions to make about how to fit Mousinho, Williamson and Nelson into the same team, or not as the case may be.

Perhaps a Spurs style set-up could be possible. Mousinho could do the Eric Dier role of playing both CB and CDM in the same game. We can switch between having 4 or 3/5 in defence, depending on what's more effective.
