My man of the match today, looked athletic, worked well with Ledson, one two touches with Payne. In fact probably his best game in a Yellow shirt.

Best player on the pitch tonight, was absolute quality. Looks a different player to last season, starting to really shine.

If he keeps progressing at the current rate we won't be able to keep hold of him come Summer.

Glad he's kicking on, he's had to be really patient, but if he can keep his form up then we've managed to replace from within, which is fantastic

It's beginning to look that Lunny's departure may actually be a blessing rather than the catastrophe many were predicting. Undoubtedly Lundstram was a class player for us, but his lack of pace and desire to look for the "hollywood pass" would have been a hindrance on this team and the way that Pep wants us to play. We have so much more energy in the midfield and our pass completion success percentage is signifcantly higher this season.

We are truly blessed with some real quality this season . . . no doubt. Keeper, back 4, CM/AM/RM and target/hold-up man. Only potential weaknesses for me are pace on the left and a poacher (although Thomas has some ability there) to give us an extra dimension.
Exciting times though!

We need to tie him down to a new deal, along with Hall, pronto. Hall can leave for free next summer and Rothwell won't fetch a huge amount of compo as he was only here for two seasons. They're comfortably two of our best and most important players now and even if we got into the Championship in the next couple of years you could see them at least being involved regularly. I'd say new deals for these two would be as important as any potential signings we could make in January.

Didn't the club get an option on a third year? I may be wrong just seem to recall that for some reason

Ledson hit two wonderful 60 yard passes to feet last night and was full of energy in centre midfield. He is going to be some player. Just needs to cut out some of those sloppy short passes. Also has a bit of work to do on his shooting. He and Rothwell are playing well as a central pairing - running power, energy and some great passing. Rothwell is now adding goals to his game too. This could be Rothwell's season - he's got so much ability.

I'm just going to say … he's a joy to watch right now. And the fact that Pep obviously has seen something in him very quickly says a lot about the both of them.

Ledson has really upped his game, combative, techty and now started to add a greater range of passing. He seems to have really taken the initiative now that Lunny has gone. Still only 20!!!
Joe Rothwell has shown glimpses before when he's appeared briefly. He needs game time to prove what a good player he can be. He IMO, has the energy and drive of Sercombe but really has an eye for a pass (he likes to do the eyes). Again, Joe is only 22 so plenty of time to improve.
I was a little gutted when we conceded late against Bradford, but these guys were absolutely devastated!! I like to see this as it really shows how much they care. It does look like Pep is really getting the players on his side.
I have to say that some of the football played at times this season has been breathtaking. Even though we have a much better defence on paper, I don't know if its just me but it feels like we are a lot more open at the back, especially from wide play.

Agree with a lot of what you've said, but not the bit about the defence. We've only conceded 5 goals this season, which is something like the 2nd/3rd best in the league. 3 of those goals were long range efforts, all of which were good finishes that you have to hold your hands up to. In Williamson and Mousinho we've got two proper defenders, that more often than not win balls in the air. And in Ricardinho we've got someone who is a vastly better defender than Johnson. Regarding the second goal on Tuesday, I think GVK should shoulder most of the blame. He was massively out of position, which resulted in Law having a free cross into the box. Can't expect the defence to win every header, but should expect all crosses to be contested when you're protecting a lead in the last 30 seconds.

I supposed I had flashbacks from the Shrewsbury game where they looked to tear us apart at will. But we are improving so quickly that we'll be a tough to break down. Richardinho is a little star, I just wish we had backup as I can't see him lasting the whole season without a rest. I agree about Mousinho and Williamson, the Mous' showed his class out of position on Tuesday against a really decent side. I think I'd still like to see Carroll play at rightback as he looks to be a real star of the future. Let's not forget Nelson!!!

Totally agree re GvK and said as much on another thread. He's already shown in previous games he has no intention of defending and supporting his full back. I hope some pulls him up on that as he has the potential to be a very good player for us but there's no excuse for not working for the team with 30 seconds left especially when you have fresh legs
