1962 away to Gravesend 0-6. Didn't we score more than that away at Dorchester in the 90's?

Hope we go out of the group stage. Imo it cost us a playoff spot last season, because of the fixture pile up it caused last season. We'd be better off out of it asap! I disagree. People look at the final table last season, see us finishing 8th and think "we only missed out on the play offs by 4 points" Thats true, but did we ever look like making the play offs ? With 3 games to go we were 10 points off the play offs and 9 points behind Southend. We moved up 2 places with our win on the last day of the season. If a fixture pile up had resulted in us slipping down the table due to exhaustion, then i might of agreed. But as we actually won our last 3 games,i don't. P.S.Our best spell of the season ? Between the 2nd of January and the 11th of February we had our busiest time of the season,we played 9 games in 40 days. We won 8 and lost 1,this included 2 Fa cup games,2 Checkatrade games and a win at the scum. We then lost at Southend(dont we always) had a great game before losing to Boro in the cup, then went on a 3 game winning streak, resulting in us being in our highest position of the season. So at the end of a fixture pile up of 14 games in 2 months,we won 3 on the trot !! (11 wins in total out of 14 games) So the stats show we actually played our best football when playing Saturday/Tuesday/Saturday/Tuesday. Good post and I mostly agree. I do think however that after that wonderful run of 11 wins in 14 games that we then went through a spell in March when we looked rather jaded, including defeats at home to Bristol Rovers and away to Oldham. Having said that, the real reason that we missed out on the playoffs last season was not our form in the second half of the season, but rather our low points tally from the opening ten games or so which left us with too much to catch up. Post-Christmas we were as good as any of the teams who eventually ended up in the playoffs.

Dorchester was 9-1 at home in the FAC with Moody scoring three, and their ex Oxford keeper Ken Veysey voted MOM. He was outstanding too

cup runs never stopped us other years and we never made it as ultimately we were not good enough over the season as a whole and that's what counts. it's strange how most never cared about the johnsons/checkertrade until wembley then people chose this above very important league games against sheffield and Bolton not forgetting also prefering another day out at Boro. The table showed we were nigh on 30 pts behind sheffield so the odd extra cup/group match made no difference and as for it may have cost a play off lottery place had we of made it there could have been another coventry performence.

Those wetting themselves over the idea of going to Wembley again (ridiculous after one game) - please remember OUFC voted against B teams entering this season.

Bow out as early as possible. These games are an injury just waiting to happen. We can have a cup run still. Just not in this.

I notice Fazackerley said that a couple of players picked up injuries on Saturday unfortunately so the players who played tonight could be called upon again on Saturday. Can only assume this is Nelson and/or Ricardinho as they were the only players out of the squad this evening. Nelson got taken out quite cheekily by Morris early on last Saturday. Didn't look right after it happened and then the same thing happened again later in the game.

Couldnât find any pubs near the ground yesterday so spent from 4:30 until about 6:30 in the local MacDonalds. Im not a snob by any means but I couldnât eat that muck again, coffee wasnât too bad though. Managed to get a pie and a pint later in the Club house which was very nice and reminded me of my playing days in the old Southern league many moons ago. Getting to the stadium was easy and no trouble parking and the drive back home only took just over an hour and ten minutes.
The game started like a wild fire and I thought this canât be maintained surely. Stevenage looked like they were on a mission and I thought perhaps another Cheltenham was looming. I need not have worried however after their goal it was like light the blue (Yellow in this case) touch paper and stand back.
If you have the opportunity to see the highlights watch them, 6 very good goals. Hall and Henry were superb, Payne his normal effervescent self, in fact all the team looked comfortable. I know its an old often used cliché, which is rolled out when teams get a drubbing but Borough did not give up.. they were just completely outclassed all over the pitch.
Tiendali played well enough but still looks well short of match fitness (understandable of course) and no where near as quick as Ribs by the look of him..and I was surprised how easily Ribeiro slotted in to the centre back position and looked very comfortable there, .. No surprise from a chap next to me however who must have been a long lost relative from the valleys âHes played there for Wales you know marked Balliotelli out of the game he didâ Perhaps I was wrong and he can defend a bit after all.
MOM for me was Hall⊠with Henry a close second and it would be very difficult not to select both for Saturday on this display.
I think one or two of the Stevenage player perhaps use the MacDonalds a little more than I do.

Has the spoons in the centre closed? Only a 10-15 min walk to the ground...

He could be a better centre back than right back though, it's his distribution as a full back that bothers me.

Two players who stood out for me albeit just from the highlights:
Obika - Surely has to start Saturday. Holds it up well but also looks skilful when required and more suited to being s lone front man. Correct me if I'm wrong but has he also not scored 2 in 2 starts.
Rothwell - His driving runs from Midfield are so dangerous and create a lot of chances either for himself or others. I think we need to find a way to get him in the team centrally, although how we shape up and who we drop to do so has me racking my brain
