When we get promoted (not if!) to the Championship, how do think this will affect our recruitment policy/selling strategy...
If we went up this year for example, would Marvin still be for sale next season? If we unearthed the next Roofe/Elliot would we want to sell?
Would our strategy turn to keeping our best players to stay in the league or would it be a case of selling to Prem to balance the books and then seeking the next lot of untapped talent. Just curious, I welcome your insight.

NB I know Eales said Marv is not for sale but that is just semantics. We all know what the club strategy is. Anyway that's too specific.

First and foremost it'd depend on how Pep and the management team think the current team would do in the Championship, playing championship sides week in, week out. I suspect there'd be a large overhaul in the squad going into a championship campaign.
But then I suspect it'd be like any championship side. Do what it takes to survive / what matches our aims. If we can get mid table, and can afford to stay there, keep the squad together as much as possible and then replace players as and when we need to. I suspect we'd also be partially propped up by premier league loanees - if you look at clubs like Fulham, Huddersfield, Reading etc last season and this, there's a lot of talent on loan from chelski etc.
Build the team round a core with as little change as possible and be happy with where we finish.

At the end of the day it doesn't matter what level you're at, all clubs are selling clubs. Barcelona sold Neymar for the right price for them. Liverpool will inveriably sell Coutinho, they'll have to. Nothing really changes, the higher you go the better the players. But none really stick around for long. The good ones you want to stay for longer, the rubbish ones you can't wait to see the back of. As supporters we just have to hope that the club is being steered in the right direction by whoever is in charge

If we were promoted this season - and I don't think for a second we will be, Pep needs a season to bed in after the turmoil of losing Mapp and key players etc - then the strategy shifts considerably (again).
For example, Nelson, Ledson and Johnson would stay. Why?
I'll give you an ezample.
When we were in League 2, Brentford were very keen on Lundstram. They had identified him as a player who could go places with them in the Championship. But instead of buying him they just waited to see how he would get on in League One. The reports were not good so they moved on.
The same will happen with our best players if we were to make it to the Championship. Clubs would wait to see if they could cut it at that level, if it was Prem clubs looking or top-level Champ clubs like Leeds.

haha it's more curiousity than expectation I've no idea if we'll go up this season or not - too many unknowns such as how quickly the players will gel and how they'll get on in the English game. But I certainly don't 'expect' us too, but I would say it's possible, if only and outside chance. Interesting feedback - would be nice to get back to a 'Leeds' level over the next decade...Chickens 1, 2, 3
