Just heard something about the possibility of Letcombe FC chairman and investor Des Williams investing in OUFC. He has ran successful businesses in the past which is where he’s got his money from. Academy player told me that he overheard Pep talking about it. Could just be an academy investment but sounds like he’ll be investing in the club as a whole. Not sure though. Anyone heard anything else about it?

Let me be the first........does he sell hotdogs I've just said this on twitter, but while i get why do u not think that bringing this up in every comment is just prolonging the split in the fan base ? If the idea is we all put it behind us and and get behind the club do u think it's helpful? I've seen it mentioned loads in the last few days and not once by anyone having a go at Darryl.

Could turn rather nasty with a lot of sauce flying and stale rolls being hurled around. innocent bystanders getting injured and the TVP would have a field day, dogs, horses, baton charges and tear gas. Inflammatory remarks sir. Mind how you go now.

But I do agree with Darryls point that healing divisions in the fan base and with the club is vital. And that oxvox and fans have a role to play in that. It's probably not coincidence that the season the club came closest to the fans in decades and everyone was together and supportive we won promotion

Can't see it myself. Des coaches the Vale youth teams and runs Letcombe. Pretty sure he's one of those that is happy with his lot and likes to stick to what he knows.

As nice as Des is as a person I certainly wouldn't want him to have any say in the running of OUFC.

Was this academy player sweeping up outside the north stand toilets at the time?

Des is an absolute legend and would be a fantastic person to have at any club, especially ours. A man of integrity, sincerity and dedication. If only this rumour were true.

How rich does he need to be??
Frankly anyone willing to invest in a L1 football club would get a vote of thanks from me. You wouldn't be investing for a return on capital that's for sure.

No but I could come on board as an investor, and it would make fook all difference. Darryl was talking about our budget going from 3/4m to 11m being the lowest in the championship.

I don't believe Burton have as much as 11 million as a budget, if so how? Edit: 7 million is their budget from what I've found.

Dunno, I think it was something Darryl said a while ago about need investment as that was the lowest budget in the league. Even £7m is almost double our current budget so will take some serious investment along side Darryl to raise it. Although u do get extra in tv money

There was a thread last season where I think it's been identified that a £7 million player budget in the Championship is covered by the tv money, but that's basically the lowest squad budget, and I think Charlie said that 80% of clubs finish within a few places of their budget, so for Burton to stay up was good outperformance. Can they do it again this season?

An investment of £1/2m could be the difference between selling a player or keeping the squad intact. Or it may be the difference between a loanee and a permanent deal (which could then result in a significant profit later on).
Even a couple of hundred grand might be the difference between a mid table L1 budget and the mythical top 6 (please God, let's not bring this up again!!).
A few grand may pay for a family day that encourages more future fans.
And, any new investors may help encourage others to get on board.
In the words of others, every little helps!!!
