Im very pleased that we have Xemi however,It's probably going to take Xemi a while to adapt to the physical side of the league. I hate to say it because the competition is a fraud but for the first couple of months Xemi should personally use the C******** trophy to help him adapt to the english game, gettong bulk of games in that time. Maybe give him 20 to 30 minutes in league games, but i believe if we throw him in two fast he will struggle. I wish Xemi could fit right in but league 1 is a lot more physical then the spanish game, Martinez found this out when he really struggled to breach a defence.
I may be overthinking everything and this may all sound ridiculous, This is my opinion having looked at a heavily based foreign port vale last season and the two spanish MK players.

Screw you sensibly cautious old buggers!
This chap was personally mentored on a nightly basis by Xavi (why else would he choose such a similar pseudonym?) and played 5-a-side weekly with Messi, Pique, Rakitic and Iniesta (his defensive talent meant they were happy to play rush-goalie). Let Wilder take Lunny, Lego, Rothwell and Ruffles; with Xemi in our side we can afford to play a 4-1-5! League One walkover.
Oxelona - Mes Que Un Club!
Bienvenido Xemi

Another odd signing. Have to say I prefer the Appleton recruits (yes I know the same scouting team is in place), but with transition comes uncertainty.
Glad the singing are getting in early enough to gel.

A mixture of yemi and xavi? Plays pinpoint passes but drives a white van? I'd be happy with that rather than whatever the opposite of that is.!

Always take YouTube showreels with a pinch of salt since we had the 'non league Ronaldo' on trial. He was shite. Can you remind me that was?

A good signing, very experienced. Does anyone know what has happened to the Wolves defender that went to Portugal with the squad? I was wondering that myself. I think it sounded like Pep was keen on him, but there has been no further news as far as I know.

Glad the singing are getting in early enough to gel. In some ways I can see where you are coming from. The only thing that I would say is that Pep obviously knows this guy pretty well and has worked in English football for a while now and so knows the English game. He certainly seems to have some pace and a lot of skill. Hopefully he will physically be able to deal with League 1 games and won't miss the Catalan sun ....

Welcome to the club Xemi, but is it just me who isn't that impressed with those YouTube highlights?! If you're just picking out an odd pass or turn here and there over the course of the season then you could make a more impressive video for any of our players. Certainly an interesting signing and hopefully a huge success (obviously) but I'll be waiting to see him play before saying I'd be happy to replace Lunny with him (although I do really rate Rothwell and would back him if Lunny does go).

Anyway, I'm sure Xemi has been scouted on far more than a bit of YouTube footage, especially for a 3 year deal. Good luck to him, I hope he shines and gives us something different.

One thing that struck me is he is extremely one-footed in that video...touched it about twice with his left foot in the whole five minutes. Will that be a hindrance at this level? I noticed that too.. and only his right shoe had laces the left was a slip on
I worry that he has the right mental attitude to play in the cloggers league, especially after playing a style of football where the ball is passed from front to back no more than 10 yards at a time and players don't tackle too much or go to ground.
We will soon find out if he's up for the rigours of L1 football, but I would rather play in the front row for the Lions than in midfield in L1 or 2.
Still at least its a psychological tool to use on the opposition..." here's our new signing from Barcelona"

If he doesn't have the right mental attitude it would be a big blunder by Pep. I reckon that I have heard enough from Pep at the moment to give him the benefit of any doubt. Also I am not sure whether we will know soon whether he can cope with League 1. It may be a while before he settles in. It took Ledson, Johnson a little time to settle in when they arrived, so my suspicion is that it will take Xemi a little longer.

Barca have for years recruited youth w Ho have moved on to the first team. OK this lad hasn't made it to the first team, but he will have trained and played with some of the worlds best. If he's half as good as these guys, he'll do ok. He looks to be solid enough to handle himself and I'm pleased he has the hunger to play in a foreign league. Welcome.

He's only half as good as messi et al because he's so one footed. Makes you wonder why Barca didn't make him practice with both feet? Then he'd have been 100% as good ;-)

According to Xemi's Twitter bio he's a Med student too! I just noticed that too! Our first since Ceri Evans, and the first I can think of in top-flight football since Kenny Deuchar was just down the road from me in Dundee. With a bit of luck then he should already be prepared to work his spuds off on three hours sleep for half the bare minimum wage his employer is prepared to give him, yet still take the blame when his CEO screws up. Alright - this Darryl Eales / Jeremy Hunt analogy really isn't working...

Ben Purkiss has a law degree. I think he also might be a qualified solicitor. Does anyone else remember a centre half who played for us a few times in the late 70's? Called Ian Stott. I think he played as an amateur, and was an accountant. Or is this false memory syndrome?!
