I don't get this fight, and think it's such a shame after the good things the Joshua v Clitshow fight did for boxing.
Mayweather will nail him.
TV companies taking money from idiots, and a tax on the gullible!

It's a WWE style fix, they hate each other according to the pre fight hype and the way they have been going on but they have just flown from Canada to London on the same plane, which seems unnecessary for two multi millionaires, but it at least gives them time to practice their hyping up the fight to sell PPV. I reckon Mayweather will carry him till about 6-8 then McGregor goes down, both will get plaudits and a shit load of cash.
Can't blame either for taking the easy money on offer but if you want to watch real world class boxing around the same time then wait for Golovkin vs Alvarez to see who the best middleweight in the world is.

Mayweather wants to pay a tax bill and is going through the motions so he can collect on the pay day. McGregor is doing his usual shit stirring routine to get PPV buys. All in, dull, predictable nonsense that won't deliver on the hype. Take the money and burn it. It will be more enjoyable.

I did find mcGregor amusing in the first conference now it's all got a bit shouty and cringeworthy
I'll probably watch it but far more excited by Cormier v Jones than this fight

I assume most boxing fans would feel the same. Credit to Conor though - from claiming benefits a few years ago to basically talking his way to tens of millions in a boxing match against Mayweather. Really looking forward to Cormier-Jones 2. MMA can be so unpredictable, but I think Jones will finish him. It'll probably stay on the feet and Jones will pick him apart being the much longer fighter. UFC 214 should be good. Personally looking forward to Lawler-Cerrone the most. Enjoy both fighters, so don't mind who wins. Has a lot of potential. Anyway, thread derailing - f this fight. 🐲

Really don't care who wins or what fake controversy will come out of it. It's a freak show fight that is not worth spending any money on.

Hey, I was right. Jones did win and Lawler-Cerrone delivered - really good fight.
Americans are getting screwed - it's $100 (of $90 for SD) over there and only £20 here, which is still more than I'm willing to pay (zero pence). Still, apparently it's on course to sell 5 million PPVs. Hey-ho, their money. 5-1 seems like short odds to me, though I admittedly know very little about betting in boxing.
Bisping vs Bellew sounds like it could happen sometime in the future. I like Bisping and have no desire to see him get knocked out. I guess it shows how poorly even some of the top guys in the UFC are paid. Miocic, Manuwa and now Bisping all seeking boxing matches. I think Aldo also mentioned wanting to box at some point.

I think McGregor. I'd rather put £1000 in Franchise Brands. At least you have a good chance to make something rather than risk losing everything

A grand on a bloke who has never had one pro boxing match vs an all time great boxer who is perhaps the greatest defensive fighter of all time? Should of just burnt it.
In a boxing match McGregor would be sparked inside of a round against Canelo Alvarez, Mayweather got a comfy points decision against him. Their are a lot of UFC fans who have no clue about boxing, who think that McGregor has some unbelievable speed and power with his hands, I have watched some sparring footage and he is clumsy and ponderous and technically awful.
Owen Farrell can strike a ball well but you wouldn't want him marking Ronaldo in a champions league final would you?

The problem with boxing, Lack of money for professional fighters on under card Too many promotions to get great fights contracted Prize boxers tend to only train hard during fight camp. Outside of that many of them are drinking or slapping women around Boxing fans are like Top Gear fans, they’ve never got into the ring/owned a luxury motor & think they’re way smarter than they actually are ;o)

I would also pick Golovkin over Alvarez just about as well, although not sure of your point there. Mayweather is an arsehole but a very professional arsehole who doesn't drink by the way.

AJ said he'd be open to fighting an MMA guy under certain rules (no submissions basically). I realise this was a response to a question rather than a statement of intent, but thought it was worth posting. Can't see it happening though. m.bbc.co.uk/sport/boxing/40999174

Respect to you, it's not easy. Especially, cardio wise + age I too would agree with picking GGG over Álvarez. However, I think McGregor has a better chance of piecing the puzzle of Mayweather. I believe Álvarez is currently a trickier fight for McGregor than Mayweather. Its rock, paper, scissors & GGG to me right now. An entertaining time for the causal for combative sports? If this is a circus act that doesn’t interest you (Aug 26th), then maybe a little drink with might?

Ticket prices are astronomical and rightly people don't want to pay that sort of money for a freak show when they can pay less and watch on TV. I suspect a load of McGregor fans will buy tix once they get to Vegas.
I see there is diamond encrusted belt up for grabs. Freak show now dialled to 11...

The thing I don't get is this, if they make the majority of their money from PPV sales then how do they know how much money they are going to make? Most people won't pay till nearer the time so they can't have numbers yet, plus they were quoting figures months ago. They can't be on a set fee given the huge numbers else if they were low it would bankrupt someone. So is the money quoted just part of the hype (and a way of getting closer to those figures).

I'd go as far to say boxing trash talk has got boring as it's so visibly fake and people are starting to really see through it. It's usually slag off opponent before, hug them after fight saying how much you respect, etc. To misquote Donald Trump. That's fake banter.

What is the point of weigh ins days before the fight ? McGregor reckons he is going to come into the ring at 170 LBs, 20 above his weigh in weight. The fight is supposed to be Super Welterweight,McGregor comes in the ring as a super MIDDLEWEIGHT

The fight is supposed to be Super Welterweight,McGregor comes in the ring as a super MIDDLEWEIGHT I think his prediction is slightly exaggerated to be fair. Although it's possible to put on 20 pounds in 36 hours you wouldn't be in good shape. Anything in between 7 and 10 pounds is more likely. Weight limits are set but a fighter like any athlete needs fuel to burn energy. There is a weight limit which all fighters have to meet but usually have to dehydrate or cut food intake dramatically in the days before a fight. It wouldn't be healthy and pretty dangerous for someone to fight just hours after a weight in.
