Any hints been given? If the bloke is out of work I should imagine it can be done pretty quickly, which would obviously be better, getting someone from another club could drag on (with no guarantee of success) and put us further behind on player recruitment than we already are, plus make other planning harder.
Is it best to be patient and go for the best possible, or better to move quick and go for the best available now?

Not sure when the players are due back but it would be great for the new man to be in place to greet them when they do. It has to be the right appointment though, 'act in haste, repent at leisure' and all that..
It was interesting to see Pressley's comments about Oxford being a stable and well run club. Despite some people's fears on here it probably actually is compared to some of the basket cases out there! Hopefully there'll be a high calibre list of candidates to choose from

Every time a new thread on our new manager is started, Eales puts recruitment back 24 hours.
We're currently looking at having a new boss in place for the 2024/25 season.

I thought it would be nice to have a thread purely about the managerial situation from a footballing point of view, because I remember when I used to enjoy football just for football rather than it being all about the back ground machinations, it's starting to put me off it to be honest.

It sounds as if the club are quite a way through the process if the papers are to be believed. I reckon that the cub will be looking to get the new person in within a couple of weeks, but this could clearly take longer if for example Archibald wasn't interested without bringing his assistant with him. Interesting times.

I'm only pulling your chain. You're right in that the F word has been largely absent in much of the recent conjecture. Roll on August!

The job has to be "punted" to Wilder first, don't forget.

The players are due back in next Wednesday. I don't expect the appointment of a new manager to be a quick process.

Reckon it will be the time it takes from now until someone puts pen to paper and signs the Manager contract, more or less.
