We have in, we have out but what we don't have is a shake it all about thread. So here it is.

I used to be addicted to the okey cokey. But I turned it all around and that's what it's all about.

Only just discovered this thread.
Obviously this is the way to go (not necessarily the okey cokey, but the middle ground). Loving some of the extreme comments on both 'Eales in' and 'Eales out' threads.
As always, the real world is a shade of grey: ideal for a debating chamber. So much has happened under Mr Eales' chairmanship that anyone can find things they like about his tenure, things they dislike and things they don't care too much about either way.
Perfectly valid to look at all issues and form an opinion that, by and large, Mr Eales should be appreciated or not, but to claim that everything is (and always has been) rosy is naive in the extreme, and to pour vitriol on his entire life at OUFC is also unjustifiable.
Plenty of posters have listed the good things he's done, and/or the understandable concerns about some of his actions. Personally, I'm currently a bit fed up with the position the club currently finds itself in, and much of that is down to Mr Eales. In the past, however, I've sung his praises and been pleased he's at the club.
I've read a few comments about Mr Eales being a good bloke, seemingly based on his willingness to watch Oxford from the terraces, buy love with hot dogs or chat to fans in some pub or other. I'm more impressed with the investment he's put into OUFC, particularly as he's not mega-wealthy. Fact remains, he's an OUFC follower in his capacity as chairman, not a fan like most of us. He can do what he likes as owner. I just hope his eye is on what's best for our future.

Thread should be titled "Eales! Shake it all about!". Poor show.

He has overseen the best 2 years of supporting OUFC for what 30 years plus in my view. AND on top of that he goes into the away end, watches the team with the supporters and buys hot dogs/ beer. So being approachable and appreciating the supporters was something that to be fair for a while DE did very well. Like you though Pete I have had some concerns over the past 6 months. That started I reckon with the 3 players not coming in during the previous transfer window, Flag-gate and the attack on Oxvox. I have no idea why things seemed to change and maybe I just missed some of the issues beforehand. I am sure that there are a lot of us that are pretty worries especially now after MAPP leaving (assuming he is about to go). DE certainly seems to have lost an awful lot of the goodwill he built up and some of the stories alleged (not the personal stories but the ones where he is supposed to have tried to sell the club including to FK (?)) are worrying in themselves if they have any truth whatsoever behind them. Never dull being an Oxford supporter is it?

Never dull being an Oxford supporter is it? Yes, granted going on about Mr Eales' boundless generosity in public houses could be seen as a cheap shot, but my point was that more than one poster has mentioned this as, apparently, their main, if not their sole, reason for appreciating the fella, followed by some vague, lowly-analysed mention of 'what he's done for the club.' Well, I'm afraid Mr Eales' aim as a non-OUFC supporting outsider was to make money from what he saw as an outfit with Championship potential. You can bet your life his intention was not, understandably, to lose £X million then offload the club to whoever. Best laid plans and all that. Anyway - excuse me if I ramble but I've just read Paul Cannell's latest and my mind's all over the place - you mention several areas of concern, to which I would add relieving a grateful fanbase of a potentially massive cash injection (yeh, yeh, could have been disastrous, Leyton Orient, Coventry, be careful what you wish for ....) after which the best manager we've had in ages pisses off in frustration to 'further his career' as his mate's second in command. It's certainly never dull ....
