After reading the other Pre-season thread I thought it would be good to set up a poll to see where people are staying to help those who are undecided.
I know of 15 staying in Albufiera " The Strip" end and 2 in Vilamoura so far.

Just spoke to another 2 lads on Facebook staying half way between the old town and the strip in Albufiera. They're not on here so can't vote.

Update from club on the website today. No transport being arranged for games this year. With this in mind I am even more surprised they are still suggesting Vilamoura as the preferred destination. As well as being a modern resort built to accommodate golfers and as such more expensive than other places its also relatively small and possibly less tolerant of big groups of football fans. Also 25€ taxi each way to the games compared to 6€ from Albufiera. Despite what they say there is very little public transport near the ground. There is a train station but that is only useful if you're staying in Faro.

I think they might have crazy golf? You will look a bit silly with all them clubs and dressed up in all the silly gear but don't let children laughing at you put you off.

It's going to be hot and I don't really want to have to walk round. Also what about caddies, as a bit of local knowledge is useful to keep the score down.

They have mobility scooters, that will do the job. Caddie would speak foreign so don't waste your money.

It's OK once Juan has taken over he'll charter a "Sambuca Yacht" from Vilamoura Harbour to Albufeira.

To say the club have "mugged us off" is a little strong. To be fair to them they have advised that people stay in what is probably the nicest area local to where the games are being played. It also didn't take a lot of research to work out that this isn't the most lively area and to book elsewhere, we got lucky in that the games are in albufeira and not vilamoura, but were always staying in albufeira. Ear the strip. Better to travel a couple of times for the games rather than multiple times for your other activities, fortunately for us we don't really need to travel for either

I just hope the players and staff were booked into Vilamoura before the takeover talks started, otherwise there could be a few OUFC fans twiddling their thumbs come w/c July 10th.

Must be on commission, then. Hotel de Paris is the only place to stay in Monte (if the Grimaldis' place is full).

Better to travel a couple of times for the games rather than multiple times for your other activities, fortunately for us we don't really need to travel for either I don't think the club have been helpful with their recommendations... What we can tell you is that the first game will be on the Wednesday and the second on the Saturday, both scheduled for the Ferreirias Stadium, Albufeira and kicking off at 6.30pm local time.
The players will be staying at a training camp away from the main tourist areas but we advise supporters to stay in the Vilamoura/Qarteria area, where there are a wide range of hotels, restaurants and bars close to the stadium. The club will not be able to provide package deals for this trip or transport to the games but the stadium is easy to find and well provided for by public transport. If you are staying in Vilamoura (as recommended by the club) then there's no way of getting to the games by public transport. There's no direct bus from Vilamoura to Ferreiras (you have to go via Albufeira) and the last bus from Albufeira to Vilamoura goes at 7:30pm. There is a bus from Albufeira to Ferrieras which costs €1.40 (don't know if that's single or return) which runs until late in the evening. So if you're staying in Albufeira you'll have no problems going by bus (unless it's already full of OUFC fans!)

Just had 4 nights in Portugal (Sat 13th- Wed 17rh May), I stayed in Albefiera with the Mrs, there are two main areas ironically called "the old town" and yes you guessed it "the new town"... The old town is very contemporary by day with gift shops and an easy going cafe's and restaurants with a laid back approach, however by night it comes alive with the the bars rocking with live music and restaurants bursting at the seams, there is an array of side streets leading onto more side streets again all very busy. The new town or "the strip" as known locally is fairly quiet by day as it is more just bars and restaurants rather that being a tourist haven for holiday makers picking up bargains to take back home, however again gets very busy at night with night clubs staying open until sunrise. I personally would recommend staying in Albefiera for our pre season tour for the following reasons and closer to the old town than the new town however the taxi's only charge €4 - €5 from one to the other anyway and we were slap bang in the middle of both areas. A - there are an array of modern clean hotels to suit all budgets, we stayed in the Paraiso hotel (4*) B - the Staduim where we play is there (did not visit the Staduim however the flood lights were visible), which means no travelling for both games C - the day life and night life is top draw D - the 2 beaches (next to the old town) are very clean and quite large E - the sea was crystal clear F - during the day most places only charge €2.50 for a large beer (rising to €4 in the evenings and through the night G - its only about an hour from the airport at Faro H - the weather was fantastic (24 - 27 degrees on all 4 days) What was very noticeable was the amount of Golfers, Hen parties and Stag parties that were there which put large groups together, which in turn made it rowdy at certain times so if that's not your scene make sure you choose your hotel wisely and ones that make a point of not taking large groups or your nightly sleep could be interrupted.
We haven't yet booked to go again for the pre-season tour however after only being back in the U.K. for 4 hours i already find myself sifting through holiday websites to get the best deals to have another 3 or 4 nights in the Portuguese sunshine.

Millwall played Nottm Forest at the albefira Staduim in 2015 so it looks like depending on the dates that they are a possibility... It's well known that Millwall have gone to Portugal for the past 3 seasons for training during the lead up to the start of the season... Let's hope they are there at a different time to the yellows.....!

Twitter rumour going around that the Wednesday game won't be Wrexham the initial suspect, or Millwall but actually Leeds who have had to rearrange part of their preseason schedule. No idea how much truth there is in the rumour but I would prefer it to Millwall. If true I'm looking forward to sharing a Portuguese resort with Millwall and Leeds fans with an added smattering of Wrexham, Bristol Rovers and Wednesday fans. Should be lively!

From what I've read Millwall's trip is only a training camp so not sure their fans would be going.
