Euro 2024 hosting candidates Germany and Turkey have been told by UEFA they must meet specific criteria for human and labour rights and anti-corruption measures for their bids to be considered. That will be the same UEFA sending teams to Russia and Qatar for the next 2 world cups !

Difference being that FIFA organise the world cups and UEFA organise the euros. UEFA don't really send teams to the World Cup.

Pretty sure if your country wasn't affiliated to UEFA you wouldn't get to enter the world cup. Pretty sure the last time i looked Russia was a UEFA country. Pretty sure OUR UEFA President Mr Platini voted for both Russia and Qatar.,

Platini was the president...hasnt been for a long time.
I don't get your point, it's a UEFA competition and UEFA have imposed the rule. The World Cup is a FIFA competition and have no bearing on the Euros.
It's not hypocritical at all.

Rather than it being hypocrisy is it not progress and reform?

It's a disgrace that the English FA are sending a team to either Russia or Qatar. However, I'm sure that the small matters of ceding parts of other countries; supporting a murderous dictator who gases his own country's children; Corruption and lack of human rights won't stop them.

The World Cup is a FIFA competition and have no bearing on the Euros. It's not hypocritical at all. Because if UEFA are imposing these rules, they could say "due to Russia's appalling record of human rights, due to Russia actually invading another member country of UEFA, we are banning UEFA affiliated teams from playing in the WC in Russia" You see massive NO to Racism adverts before champions league games, starring Ronaldo,Messi and all the top stars, yet Racism is still rife in Italy and eastern Europe,UEFA let them get away with it time after time. The latest one just this weekend in Cagliari, apparently racist abuse cannot be punished by Serie A if less than 1% of the crowd are involved. The Serie A disciplinary committee agreed their actions were "deplorable" but said its guidelines meant it could not impose sanctions as only "approximately 10" supporters were involved - fewer than 1% of the Cagliari supporters in the ground. So if their are 80,000 people in the San Siro,799 people can scream racist/sexist/homophobic abuse at anyone they want, because its less than 1% of the crowd. Meanwhile the Serie A committee warned Lazio and Inter Milan faced partial stadium closures if there was a repeat of recent racist behaviour shown by their fans. Oh you naughty boys,if you racially abuse players again we MIGHT close a PARTIAL part of your stadium, the last time i saw Lazio on the telly you could close 80% of the ground and everyone would still get in with plenty of room to spare. I think campaigning for No racism then letting Italian and East European teams get away with Racism IS hypocritical. I think banning countries from hosting tournaments for whatever reason, then allowing countries under your jurisdiction to play in countries with a far worse record is hypocritical.

When South Africa were banned from ALL sport worldwide,Gary Player was winning majors,South African cricketers were playing in England,South African rugby players were playing in New Zealand. www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-39779491As the great SEPP Blatter said when asked about gay sex being illegal in Qatar "Dont go to Qatar if your gay" Looks like UEFA might have to say the same about Russia.

Oh, I'm sure we will take part. Abramovich is a Russian crook who for reasons I have never understood we allow to live in this country and pay a derisory fixed annual tax payment of £30k. The fact is that football, and professional sport in general, is institutionally corrupt as, I suspect, is just about every facet of life. You either accept it and live with it or have nothing to do with it.

When English clubs were banned from Europe,English players weren't.Not strictly correct. South Africa were banned from Test Cricket, that was all. But there was no issue with South African players coming over to England and playing the county game - Clive Rice, Mike Proctor, Alan Lamb and Robin Smith all had glittering careers in the Country Championship. Also because Lamd and Smith had never played for South Africa before the ban, they were able to switch nationalities and represent England in the Test Arena. Plus it was English teams banned from playing in UEFA sanctioned club competitions only. There were few players that played on the continent between 1985 and 1990 and did play in Europe e.g. Chris Waddle (Marseille), Gary Lineker (Barcelona) and Paul Ince (Inter Milan).

Agree with your point. Just a query to anybody, did Ian Rush play in Europe for Juventus when he was there?
