Cracking win, Eales was stood behind us, I asked him if we're going to sign Macleney permanent in the summer, he said depends on money.
Love the new Scum chant too

We are now top of the four clubs that came up last season, six points off the playoffs, just had a great FA Cup run, still in with a chance of (a slightly devalued) Wembley appearance. As well as a first win at the Valley. Looking forward to Chesterfield now! #mappwasright Don't expect the Cobblers fans to agree with us any time soon, though...

I see Chesterfield picked up a good away point at Millwll tonight so Saturday will be another tough game. My main worry is that Lundstram and Ledson are playing every match and will soon start to flag. Sercombe needs to be used to relieve one of them not out wide. Flagging? They're 19 and 23 and in the peak of their fitness... Didn't Trewick and Hebberd each play 60+ games for us in consecutive seasons (maybe) at 26 and 27? If young professional athletes in this day and age are flagging, questions need to be asked of our training dept. Form may also ebb and flow over the course of a season, I do accept that. But lacking fitness should be no excuse.

As I said on the charlton preview thread, took 6 Oxford virgins along with me tonight and they absolutely f*cking loved it. Were singing the 7 in a row chant all the way home. Think, as is so often the case, they were totally caught off guard by the quality of football we play and the quality of support we bring along. Not a silent moment for 90 minutes. Outstanding.
We weren't lucky. We restricted them to nothing but half chances. We were totally solid at the back and looked to have that little bit more going forward. Brilliant result, even without our best XI playing. Mcaleny looked excellent. Feel he will be a vital player in the months to come.
Still buzzing. Was convinced we'd lose tonight. Onwards!!

What a win! Win against Chesterfield on Saturday and I'm going to start thinking the playoffs are on.... Get a win against Chesterfield and I'm going to start thinking relegation has been avoided.

Actually thought Charlton were more than useful with Holmes and Mavididi stand outs. That's what made our deserved win so special. Once the sending off happened we played extremely cleverly. The side is getting cuter and cuter. Thought the midfield pair were excellent and McEleny is mini Maguire. Off pitch the Charlton support was totally dead. A Marie Celeste of a club. It was like a home game. Pleased I went. I would guess McEleny, if he can prove himself, is being lined up as Maguire's replacement in the summer.

But lacking fitness should be no excuse. Peak fitness is pretty subjective depending on what sport you play but the generally accepted age for midfielders to be at their peak is 25-27. L&L may have sharpness, speed and motivation but it takes time to build up strength and endurance. At 19 Ledson is probably still growing. It's not a question of training it's just physiology.

I guess it is a risk, but neither are showing any signs of slowing at the moment. Both have been immense this year. Good performance last night, McEleny i thought was the standout performer and a great atmosphere created by the fans. Great night, on to Chesterfield!

It was a good game last night, yes we were lucky to not to end up drawing and yes I would like us to be much more clinical in front of goal but sercome had his best game for a while alongside McEleny. At the back Chey was magnificent and is fast becoming the best centre back since Matty Elliot and again Eastwood made good saves at important moments. Ledsome played well but maybe needs to work on his strength and distribution and I thought lunny looked off the pace with his passing and maybe could be replaced with Rothwell for a spell who hasn't done much wrong since he has been here. I felt we looked solid at the back and when needed Skarz was his consistant self. Edwards finds himself forward alot but finishes are spectacularly dangeous for the fans behind the goal rather than the goal itself. Up front Martinez had a good first half but annonymous till he was pulled off in the second half. Subs wise I can see why hall was rested. It's his final ball that frustrates he beats his man or runs into space with nice one touch passes then puts his cross into the side net or misses in incoming runner. Add this touch of quality then he is a seriously expensive assert. Marvin Johnson had a OK game he will have better and did alot of running.
All in all considering what we paid for this team i think we have a great talent who are easilly worth 4-5 million and potentially more. Last nights team had a new look too and apart from a few waywood passes where lunny and Ledsome were head down when they did the pass (and there were more from Lunny) the team gelled well like they had played together all season.
I was impressed with charlton but both teams have a similar scoring record (before the middlesbourgh match we had scored the same number of goals) and it showed. They had enough chances with a semi potent stricker to score a goal or two. The red card was deserved and a possible second for a bit of afters between Nelson and their forward.
Annoyed with silly bookings for kicking the ball away at the end (so obvious the referee had to book them) just because they looked so silly and compounded by the mock protesting afterwards
As an aside I Motorbiked from cambridge which with the wind on the way back was flipping scary and the stewards convascated my helmet as a banned item WTF! Never had that before although I understand that if we get to wemberly this season then helmets are prohibited there too.

Great result last night sounds like we held our own against a decent side and even if we were a little lucky to get more than a draw (like some say) surely we are due the rub of the green at some point this season? Don't think we've had it yet! Or am I just biased?

wasn't able to get there last night , so I have been reading up from the various forums. Sounds like the addicts are in terminal decline. Shame. Not nice when that happens to any club other than Scumdon. I found Robinsons comments quite enlightening- even if contradictory, at times. Sorry if this has been posted earlier, but I am suffering from forum fatigue. audioboom.com/posts/5632659-reaction-cafc-karl-robinson-has-some-home-truths-for-his-players-after-defeat-by-oxfordI was so happy with last nights result that the speeding ticket I picked up on the A19 on the way back from Boro and popped thru the letter box this morning, didn't even dent my good mood...🙊

Thought we did okay til the last minute, even if the attack was toothless in the second half. So there we were on the attack comfortably with less than a minute to go and Charlton had just about thrown in the towel. Foolishly someone wanders offside (Hemmings?). From the free kick we concede another in our half for an uneccesary push. From the free kick, we concede a corner. By now well over five minutes had been played, so even their keeper came up for it. I was sure the buggers were going to deprive us of our first league win at The Valley, especially when one of them got in a great header going right into the top corner. Couldn't believe that Ledson saved the day with a fantastic saving header, and then the whistle went. Why do they put us through it?

Phew.... I flicked through 2-3 pages and hardly saw OUFC mentioned at all. The natives are certainly restless- calling League 1 a cesspit of a league maybe suggests where they have come from. Maybe they need to get used to it! Similar to some of our supporters in the Conference and League 2?
