After a six month battle with cancer, my mum (Pam) finally succumbed to this dreadful illness on Tuesday 13th December in Sobell House. I've put this on here, because quite a few of you who read these posts know my family, and especially my mum. When I did my bit trying to raise funds for the 12th Man, she always came to help and support me at the stadium. Great mum - sadness all around. Cuddy.

So sorry to hear that Cuddy, my thoughts are with you.
My mum is currently battling cancer for the third time. She's beaten it twice before and I'm hoping she does again but it's a horrible time.

So sorry to hear that mate. Always a pleasure reading your pre match predictions but hearing this reminds everyone of the bigger picture and the really important things. I hope it won't be long before you are able to look back with a smile at better times and remember her how she was.

My condolences. Never nice news to hear. Hoping for speedy recovery of Sihath's mum too.
Just a thought and maybe one reflective of this time of year, could we maybe adopt a forum charity (aside from our usual fundraising for the club) for any slush funds to go to towards the end of the season? I'm sure many of us have had friends, family or colleagues go to Helen and Douglas House or Sobell House so adopting one as our forum charity can only be a good move.
Just a thought and I'm sure one the mods can have a think about.

Sorry to hear about your loss Dave. I've lost three family members to cancer over the years, all at a young age, and I don't need to tell you what a cruel disease it is.
It's not much consolation, but at least your mum had a decent innings. Chin up old mate, make sure you give her a good send off.

I lost my dear old dad a few weeks ago and life has been a bit surreal since to say the least, however going up the footy and cheering on the boys does help to vent your feelings and it does let you leave the dark place you're in just for a few hours. God bless all of you who are going through this awful time.

God bless all of you who are going through this awful time. So sorry to hear about your Dad Oldham. You're so right about football being a way to switch off for a few hours when a loved one is ill, or has passed away. Helps to recharge the emotional batteries a little. It's worth everyone remembering that the person sat next to you at a game might be going through all sorts of problems, so let's be nice to each other this Christmas. Thoughts with everyone going through a tough time.

Then I was at our next home game and as the U's came out I burst into tears. Strange how we all deal with losing a loved one..
