How did Canice Carroll do in his short spell? I thought he did really well. One dodgy pass, but plenty of good ones too. Was confident to get forward on a couple of occasions, did some nice link-up play (particularly when Macca moved to the right and played in front of him) and even attempted a decent shot. Sounded absolutely made up in interview afterwards. Nice move from MApps. Macca was constantly shouting at him, even when he was on the other side to start with, and carroll misplaced that pass, macca shouted don't worry, keep going well done

Good lad.

I also noticed Dunks on the right and Nelson on the left, looked much better, don't know why they haven't played that way round before. Still think we need another option up top - Roberts showed a few nice touches, as did Taylor, but thought Hemmings looked better than both in the short time he was on.

MAPP's interview on RO was interesting.
He suggested that Carroll (who suggested that he could play anywhere in a back 4), would become a defensive midfield player in the next 18 months. MAPP also suggested that Carroll had a very good chance of making it as he has a 'fantastic attitude'
He also praised Ruffels. MAPP called him a 'diamond' and said how important he was to the squad (I reckon that Ruffels was very good last night- one of the best games I have seen him play for us).

Was impressed with everyone last night, Taylor linked well with Roberts and Hemmings.
No idea how their keeper stopped both those shots in quick succession!

Just watched the highlights. Nick Harris made so many mistakes in that 3 min clip!

Always important for the strikers to score, so it was pleasing to see Taylor and Hemings on the score sheet.
Nice pass from Roberts for the second goal and a lovely deft touch from Taylor for the third.
I seem to remember Mapp saying that Taylor for some reason through out his career has performed better in the second half of the season, so hopefully we'll see more goals and assists from him.

I see the Macc fans are complaining about the Ref. Our 1st goal was apparently a blatant handball and has been referred to as the "hand of God" goal by one. Only based on the highlights, if it hit his hand, then it was ball to hand rather than deliberate handball.
Also the sending off shouldn't have been apparently and the Ref couldn't get his red card out quick enough! Hancox's challenges were both late and cautions in any other game. Iirc, he got away with another after the Ref played on from the challenge. Hancox was dumb making that challenge that got the 2nd caution especially as there were at least 2 Macc players ahead of Roberts.
They also claim Boyeson of being "whistle happy" and clearly bias in our favour. Personally, I thought he tried to let play go on and used the advantage rule well for both teams. And as for being bias in our favour, he gave plenty of free-kicks against us, including in the spell of pressure just before the sending off.
Overall a good refereeing performance for me.

Surely it must be time for Nick to retire - with visuals you can kind of get away with it as people can actually see what's going on, but not on radio surely.

The first goal wasn't hand of god or anything near it - plenty of those aren't given because it was ball to hand. If they'd defended properly (like we didn't for Oldham's goal on Saturday) it would not have been an issue. The Ref was fine, bit inconsistent but tried to let the game flow. Certainly didn't make himself the star unlike so many Refs this season. Hancox was his own worst enemy and has to use his brain when playing as from both games he clearly doesn't. I suspect they got embarrassed last night after they thought they'd come and win, and are looking for excuses. They looked a decent Conference outfit who suffered from Conference mistakes when under pressure. The opponent however stepped it up and they couldn't cope. Bit like us against Brighton in pre-season and the cup. Nowt to be ashamed of.

Hope they go on to have a good season, they just came up against a far superior side, on a nice wide open pitch, and got punished for elementary errors. It could of been more than 3-0.

Expecting little in the way of entertainment, just hoping to see a good performance from our lads, and a win that would ensure we take part in the dubious 'reward' of the next round. ……… I predict a riot win for the U's by 3 clear goals. Thought I'd quote the first post in the thread. Half-right! An entertaining game and 3 clear goals!!

Most definitely taking a positive outlook from their point of view on the game!! If that was a harsh yellow card then cautions should just be abandoned. Also, when did we sign Joe Rodwell?

We just had a couple of bad games.

Why the f*ck are the highlights not on Yellowplayer? Because it's the FA Cup and the highlights are never given to clubs. They're exclusively on BBC or the FATV YouTube channel.

Sorry, are you implying that Taylor did something quite exquisite? Because we won't have that here. He's the worst player we've ever had and deserved to be mocked, booed and jeered by his own fans at every opportunity.
