I agree that the Macron is compact and no doubt it is a great stadium but it does feel and look like it's 20 years old now (it opened in Aug 1997) aand I much prefer stadium:mk stadium:mk is a wonderful area and excellently designed (by Populous) Sorry to say, but mk's design is so much geared to putting bums on comfortable seats and not getting fans close up to the action. The macron is older and does look a little tired around the edges, but it felt more like a supporter friendly ground to me - steep sides, looming over the pitch (not that bolton made any noise in it, they were largely silent). All very well having a nice big ground, but if you can't fill it with fans and atmosphere then it is just a shell.

Brilliant day, home by 7:30 to boot. Only took three hours getting up but would've been shorter had we not got stuck between 500 odd motorbikes taking part in Ride To The Wall. Absolute carnage.
I much prefer the Macron to MK. It feels much more lived in and generally 'proper'. Yes, MK is nice, but between the club playing there and the obvious catering towards the prawn sandwich brigade with the layouts etc, it's just too hollow. The Macron has a soul to it and being 20 years old now has developed that despite being a 'new build'.
Also, bloody great having plenty of parking for away fans only right behind that stand. Took literally 30 seconds to get out of the car park and straight onto the roundabout. Little steep at ÂĢ7 but given the match tickets were only ÂĢ15 was happy to pay it.
Overall, cracking day out.

I think as Appleton said in his interview, it was nip and tuck in the first half. We had some good spells of possession but lacked cutting edge.
The game changed with the introduction of MacDonald and Thomas. Macca's energy was great and Thomas's movement and hold up play was exactly what we needed. It was fitting that the two of them combined for the first goal.
I must admit that I didn't start to relax until the second went in. It was good work by Hemmings (who I thought had a good game against some very boisterous defending that went completely unpunished by the referee). Once it fell to Maguire there was only going to be one outcome, and the man of the hour continued his impressive scoring form.
It was s really deserved win in the end. We were the only team in it for most of the second half. But for a great stop from their keeper and a slightly hurried shot from Hemmings it could have been much more comfortable. We defended really well throughout. Skarz had a particularly Skarz-esque game and Eastwood was fantastic again. I'm looking forward to Nelson's return, but not sure how easy it will be for him to break back in to the first 11?
When you think that we've still got Nelson, Hall, Ledson, and Ribiero to come back (all probably starters) it makes you think that we are more than capable of competing at the top end of this division.
So yeah, great performance, great result, great away following (as always). Anything I've missed? I suppose s mention for their ground wouldn't go amiss. I thought it was ten times better than Stadium MK. Maybe that was just because of where we were situated? However, whilst their ground is better, Bolton's fans were as bad if not worse.
Bring on Wimbledon.

I agree about the Macron too vs. MK. Feels more lived in, closer to the game, parking is perfect and they paint the loos in the away team colours every game. Possibly. Also very old school to see the "back of the bike shed" brigade puffing away in there at half time.

Nine years ago, Bolton were mid-table in the Premiership, and drawing at Bayern Munich/beating Atletico Madrid in the UEFA Cup. We were mid-table Conference, and losing to Tonbridge Swifts in the FA Trophy.
Fast forward to this year, and we've gone and deservedly won at their place in the League. Football, bloody hell.

Bolton fans sound just like us when we were losing to teams like Histon and Droylsdon in Non League.

I come on here to moan, so I'll come on here to congratulate too. Didn't experience the game today, despite being just downthe road in Manchester. The stats show a good performance against a Bolton team who seem in a very bad place. Good three points coming just at the right time, I just hope we can stop blowing hot and cold and take advantage of this tight league. Well done all, especially the fans who made the brief Sky highlights a pleasure to watch! Gosh that post hurt you didn't it Don't worry I am sure there will many more times that we won't win and you can go back to moaning I like to think I'm reasonably positive on here most of the time (unless someone brings up Patrick Hoban). The start of this season I've been more negative though, I don't usually mind us losing if we play well but we haven't had much of that for our losses this season so far. Three points against Wimbledon and a place in the playoffs would shut me up for a bit.

Seriously? I am not sure how much of the Conference and League 2 you watched, but I am a little surprised that anybody who went through those years could be too negative about 4 wins and 4 defeats and 10th place to date in a pretty competitive league?

After the Southend game, did you have a beaming smile on your face, driving home in pure elation because 'at least we don't have to play Altrincham again'? I don't hold us up to past standards, I just look at each game and decide if the team get the basics right and play as a unit. If they do that, then the score doesn't matter.

Was Hemmings not very good then? Came across on the radio and in the live tweets that he was really involved again, and from the footage did very well for the second goal ? Hemmings led the line for me and was part of a team performance that on the day I would find it very hard to be critical of anyone. Putting the result to one side some of our football was outstanding and to go a team who have just come down and deny them a shot on goal all game tells you this was top class from keeper to front Yes Hemmings did ok but he seemed to be taking shooting tips from Taylor. He missed an easy finish earlier on and once we got a proper finishing striker up there in Wes Thomas we seemed to look better. As I said I was very happy with the team performance and just hope Johnson and Hemmings can start scoring or posing a threat up front.

Fantasic result. Fell asleep at 0-0 and woke up very surprised to see we had won 2-0 vs one of the top teams in the division. Fantastic support with nearly 1400 making the long journey and by all accounts it was the perfect strategy by MAPP. Great way to wake up on a Sunday!

Foot note: We stayed in a hotel around 20 minutes drive away from the Macron, and the place was full of ***** united red shirts - I resplendent and proud in the yellow and blue drew some odd glances from some who appeared to hail from the far East!! Did meet a couple from Horspath - there for the match at Old Trafford, although he did admit to 'punching the air' when he heard our result on his car radio, I, did much the same later on when I heard that Stoke had got a point!!

Wes Thomas' 5 year-old son was in the away end on Saturday, according to a quote from him in this morning's OM. Nice.
