Assuming we take 3,000 + on Saturday, when was the last time we took over 3k to a league away game? Difficult to say, recording away attendances is reletivley new thing. Surely it happened in the 80's?

Every chance we will have more fans in Buckinghamshire on Saturday than our wannabe rivals Wycombe, whose crowds have fallen from the not particularly impressive to not many at all as they struggle this year.

MK Dons fan in peace here. First off, congratulations on a fantastic season last year. Great to see you're bringing so many to Stadium MK on Saturday, I hope you enjoy the facilities,, but forgive me if I don't wish you luck during the game, but I'm sure you understand. George has been one of our better players lately, in what has already proved a difficult transition following such a crap season. Glimmers of how we can play showed themselves away at Bolton last week, in fact we should have beaten them comfortably in the end. Anyway I think it's going to be fairly close between us on Saturday and in the final league standings. If I can give any help or advice, please just ask and I'll do my best to help you. Until then a bit of bedtime reading for you taken from the Concrete Roundabout, the Dons forum about Saturday's game. This guy writes them every week and they are a pretty good read. www.concreteroundabout.co.uk/phpbb/viewtopic.php?f=49&t=18322

MK Dons fan in peace here. Were you a football supporter before MK were spawned? Or were you a Wimbledon supporter? Whats it like adopting a football team? Can it be compared to the local stray cat that moves into your house wanted or not? So many questions..... You see most of us are born & bred United supporters & despite moving across the country/globe we can`t "change" clubs, you might want to Google "Thames Valley Royals" to find out how proper supporters deal with such things. It must be difficult for an MK supporter with no history and following a club that is a summary of everything that was wrong with the game at the time.

I was a Wimbledon fan, born and bred, I followed what was the true progression of Wimbledon to Milton Keynes. Nobody wanted us, not the people of Merton or the Council. Instead of fighting like the TVR most just gave up, if fans had stood together the move to MK would never have happened. AFC was formed in 2002 not as some would have you believe, when Wimbledon moved to Milton Keynes in 2004. I would say 75% of fans decided to walk away from the club, I was at Selhurst Park when week in week out we were outnumbered by away fans, it was soul destroying. Would you as Oxford fans turn your back on your club, or would you fight for it, let's not forget at the time Wimbledon were still playing in London, and thousands simply turned their back and walked away.. By walking away from the club, the sale, transition and move to MK was made easy for those with a vested interest. Was it right, possibly not, it will certainly never happen again, an ailing club will just be left to die in the future. So believe what you want, it's a romantic story the birth of AFC, sadly the detail though has got clouded as many from AFC have tried to rewrite history, but you cannot escape the fact, that thousands abandoned their club. They tried to get people to boycott our ground, and then turned up at our first meeting with 7,000 fans, some boycott that, by the way, the stand has now been nicknamed the Boycott Stand in honour of our AFC friends that don't have the courage of their convictions, you will be sitting their on Saturday. Many hoped that MKD would go bust, but there is no chance of that, the owner has short arms and deep pockets, and the whole complex is owned by the club, the hotel, the arena, all the shopping outlets, the cinema, and all the surrounding car parks, a state of the art training facility is also in progress paid for with the sale of Dele Alli as well. MK is here to stay and one day could easily be a big club, with a fan base and generation of Dons fans born every day. As for MK Dons fans not being liked, most don't care, other clubs may have the history, but MK Dons make history every season, in fact we have won more trophies than some teams ever have in 100 years, we beat Man Utd in front of a sellout crowd 4-0 as well, it's all history, we are going to be around for a long time. So say what you want, it makes no difference to any of us, we don't seek friends, I just came on here to give help or advice to any that may need it, for parking, travel, pubs, where to avoid etc. Enjoy the game. Don

I don't have a problem with MK Dons' fans at all. It's the authorities I had/have a problem with for allowing an American style franchise to be set up and for them to be given a massive leg-up rather than starting from scratch.
But as said, no real problem with the MK fans - particularly as there's no historical issues with us for obvious reasons - and it's one of our closest away trips so the attendance from yellows is always going to be decent.

Ooooooooosshh.... touchy. Has that wound not healed yet??
However, as you say, if you had "stood together" it wouldn`t have happened. Guess thats the difference between genuine supporters and others. We`ve beat Man Utd a few times as well, we`ve won some trophies.......we`ve had sell out crowds etc etc, we`ve taken 35k+ to Wembley three times....... we just never bought our place in the league. We have been further up & down than any club you can think of and, barring where the Maxwell money might have come from or not, have stuck together and done it right. Don`t want to be your friend either..... and we are more than happy to find out where to park, have a pint etc etc.....we`re Oxford United we do what we want. Expect some banter...its an Oxford forum. TTFN xxx

Must say I'm looking forward to visiting Oxford, be another off the list for me. By the way well done for beating the Pig Fiddlers.

In the highlights that I have seen Baldock seems to be playing deeper than he did at Oxford, where he was given a licence to get forwards (he often got into the opposition penalty area, had shots etc. Is that a fair comment? Also how much pressure is Robinson under?

I don't think George has changed his game much, if at all, he still gets forward and likes a shot, obviously I never watched your games so it's not that easy to compare. I know George was well respected at Oxford, so tell me, how did you feel about loaning a player from the Dirty Franchise ? As for Robinson, well I can't see the owner sacking him, that would cost money, and if he wasn't sacked for the rubbish last season, it's a job to know what he would have to do to get the sack.........sleep with the owners daughter ? I think he would be forgiven for that as well. We're not the side we were, when we went up we were Championship quality in a pretty mediocre division, the likes of Grigg, Afobe, Lewis Baker, Dele Alli etc. They've all gone now, and the club is building a new team, most pretty young with a few old hands thrown in. Robinson has lost some of the fans, but most would like him to stay, especially when he has turned down big moves to higher ranked clubs. There are signs he is turning it around, we played Bolton off the park on Saturday in the second half, and you could feel the change in atmosphere amongst the fans, the post match interviews etc, there is now a sense of optimism around the club. We've played crap and are still about half way, I expect a big reaction on Saturday, so do many others, of course it could easily go wrong. But I would say, don't believe what some are saying, lose and Robinson will be sacked, it won't ever come to that, he's been here 6 years now, you get a lot kudos for that sort of loyalty and he has been at the helm through some great moments.

Don't forget that GB and his brother are originally from Oxford. He was fantastic for Oxford and was probably the best right back that we had for the past 20 years so it was clearly very disappointing when he went. To be fair in my view he should be playing in the Championship.

If I understand this correctly dontodeath, you must live in London and travel up for every home game? To be fair that's quite some commitment if so.
Back to the original post of yours, and a couple of questions. I've been to your place once and parked near an industrial area, opposite the stadium. Is that still an option? Also I've drank in Stony Stratford before (nothing to do with football) and it was pretty good, but others have said maybe Fenny Stratford is a better option, any thoughts? If it's Fenny Stratford is that walkable to the stadium as its difficult to say from Google maps?
Any advice gratefully received.

I'm taking the kids to the match on Saturday but suspect Mrs SSU and eldest daughter will venture into bloody Ikea and the various outlets around the stadium. Is the parking at the retail park restricted on match days?

Interesting thread, apparently as fans we model ourselves on Palace and because they've been relegated from the Championship and we've come from league 2 they should beat us! And yet here we are in the same league as equals...

Ground number 88 for me, I only count them when I see OUFC play there... its nice supporting a proper team. Vain attempt at endearing yourself to us by congratulating us on winning our sixth local derby in a row. I suppose MK must struggle with the concept of actually having a local derby .... I mean all the teams that are geographically close have history and established derbies. You must feel like the "new kid" that wants to get in the gang. Who are your "local rivals"? Certainly not us !! Doubt Posh, Northants or Luton give a toss about you either.

Colin B. Originally I travelled up on the train most weeks from London, it's only 45 mins on the flyer, but a few years back my company relocated to MK so I moved with them, in all honesty I was getting fed up with London, and I got relocation money and a bigger house for my cash. I would be careful parking on the industrial sites you mention, every now and again they ticket loads of cars, even for parking on the grass, you could be lucky, be you could end up with a £60 ticket. There is though parking in that area for a charity for kids with cancer, started after a young Don called Henry sadly died, I think it's about £4, is for a good cause, the area will be safe and you won't get a ticket. By train Fenny is the best option, one stop from Bletchley on the flyer, a few good pubs and a walk of about a mile to the ground. Bletchley station is a bit further, but it's a crap walk along dual carriage ways, and most of the pubs are a bit dire, the Enigma Tavern has been the scene of plenty of trouble in the past and has possibly now banned football fans, as has the Inn on the Lake. Most Dons fans drink at the Dolphin ( avoid) or the Red Dot Bar at the ground, home fans only though I'm afraid. Stony Stratford is full of pubs, but only doable by car, too far to walk.
