I know he went off injured today but Dunkley continues to improve with every game - a trend that he's carried over from last season where he made the most of Mullinss dropping out. Could he potentially be one we could turn a profit on should his potential continue to be realised and another team come in for him?
40 appearances under his belt for us now and should be reveal he's capable of L1 football, who's to say that a Championship side may come in for him.

"Ten minutes after the game" f*ck me,i know You get hung, drawn and quartered on here for leaving early, but i didnt know it had got so bad you have to hang around for ten minutes after the game has finished It took that long to walk past the stand thanks to a driver who decided it would be a good idea to drive against the flow of people coming out of the east stand walking towards the bowlplex. Was moronic. Exactly, he Suddenly appeared from behind the buses just as I walked past and was being told by fans not to go that way but ignored them and refused to back up. That bunched everyone up and probably contributed to whatever happened a minute or so later. No stewards or police challenged him. They should not have allowed it to happen. The car had an OY registration so probably not an away fan. What an idiot.

obviously in the minority but thought apart from a 20 minute a spell in the first half we looked second best. Eastwood, who I've criticized, kept us in it. biggest disappintment today though was the autistic Chesterfield fan who was giving it the big one from his minibus by the priory "what did you think of Evans, not impressed?" Ducking hell mate your giving it the big one about a rapist. what does that say about you. how do you sleep at night. What do you know about Autism fella and what's your f*cking problem with it?

Watching that, I feel we should have done better. Mid-table I reckon Not sure you can come to any sort of conclusion after 90 minutes. I assume you made the same prediction after Crawley last season? And yet you can predict before the season's even started - see there 'where will we finish' thread!

I thought it was a great game. We looked comfortable and a threat, not out of place at all at any point even when having to play with a make shift defence. Evens didn't impress me at all and apart from one shot and the goal was pretty s**t to be honest. Reading the bbc match report you wouldn't think there was anyone else on the pitch part from him. Very strange. I'd like to see us buy a fast winger before the deadline this month but if we don't I think we have the side to compete and even succeed in this league.

Positives from this afternoon ...looked good going forward, squad looks ready to provide cover Long was good, Dunks n Nelson look to have the makings of a partnership ( until dunks went off injured), lots of chances created, Taylor & Thomas looked good up front in the first half, we're unbeaten this season, 8k home fans! Negatives, finishing not good enough, given the amount of chances created, only the 1 goal is not a good enough return in ratio of chances to goals scored, how did Evans low shot go UNDER the wall, (isnt the wall there to stop low er shots from free kicks? ), we didnt manage to win at home, couple of players short of a squad to genuinely challenge for promotion as yet, if sports science is still being utilised, Rob Hall excepted, why are players picking up injuries in training that stop them playing?
not a bad nor a great opening game of this campaign Not sure if you're referring to any particular player, but in the case of Ribeiro, I doubt there is much that sports science could do to prevent a fractured ankle. A muscle strain is one thing, but an actual break would suggest that he may have been hit with a bit of force.

Well be fine. Pretty solid. Probably upper mid table
I don't see how we have improved with that starting xi from last season, though
We are considerably weaker and will struggle to create and score

We played really well yesterday, and were undoubtedly the better side. I was fearful that we weren't up to the task after such a long absence but we won't go down playing like that every week. Good long balls to the wings, good attacking hold up and good solid defending at times. The Chesterfield goal was a bit horrible, not least because the fans were singing his name afterwards. Would we have done the same had we signed him? I like to think not, that was pretty low. They were elated with their point though which says something about their prospects for the season.
Good crowd, good atmosphere, good match. Consolidation is the aim and it looks as though we'll do that with absolute ease.
On an unrelated note, I watched goal rush on channel 5 for the first and last time last night and the level of chat was ignorant at best. The pundit (whoever he was) backed Northampton to do best out of the promoted sides this season, ignoring the fact that they lost their manager and citing the fact that we lost our star 'striker' as a reason why we won't do as well. I don't mind someone backing Northampton to do better than us but at least show some knowledge of the football league whilst you're doing it.

One thing that was obvious yesterday is how much better Curtis Nelson read the game than any of the CBs last season. I can see why Arygle fans were sad to see him go. Didn't have a great game, but there is a very good CB in the making.

I thought we played ok. Moved the ball well, restricted them to hardly any chances whilst creating 3 or 4 very good chances ourselves. On another day we could've scored 2 or 3 more. Watching the highlights back this morning I can't believe how far they moved the free kick, which they scored from, forward! Went from a position where they had no chance to just about in range. Poor refereeing!

I don't think their right back took a throw in from where the ball went out all game. On one occasion he took a stole 10+ yards with nary a reaction from the officials. They gave up after the first half.

Yes the Ref was poor in this respect. Hardly anything all game was taken in the right place. The free kick they scored from was taken nowhere near the incident. Evans was allowed to set it up just how he wanted it. Eastwood was at fault though. The wall was pathetic, only three in it and too far to the left and I reckon he could have made a better attempt at saving it. He did make one really good save before though.
