I welcome the change, why refer to someone who has without any doubt, profited from the use of OUFC for his own means? Without OUFC he would never have overturned the covenant on alcohol sales anywhere other than from the Priory and he would never have had the opportunity to sell the Manor for huge profit with nothing going to the club. His positive involvement with the club ended as soon as he had all his other businesses in place and yet he still retains a strangle hold over the clubs ability to function at Grenoble road. The reports of what the club were paying for tea/coffee alone are testament to the contempt in which he holds OUFC. Everything about his involvement stinks. He wants a ridiculous sum of money to buy the ground and yet would bulldoze the lot within days were we to move elsewhere. (And turn another huge profit building houses in its place) True. But why did no one else come up with a proper plan and the money to move us away from the Manor when it became clear we wouldn't be able to carry on there. They did, he started building a stadium at Grenoble Road. It didn't go so well.

But why did no one else come up with a proper plan and the money to move us away from the Manor when it became clear we wouldn't be able to carry on there. Any above board businessman would have looked at the figures and run away! Robin Herd ran into all sorts of financial worries when he attempted to do the job. Anyone looking at the covenants on both the Manor and the area referred to as Minchery Farm would have thrown up their arms and given up. Kassam was clever and devious enough to get away with getting both covenants lifted for a pittance and, getting OCC to regard him as the saviour who would protect them from a fans revolt. (lot of voters are fans) Would you seriously consider opening a hotel, conference centre, bowling complex, multiplex cinema and various restaurants knowing that none of them would be able to sell alcohol? Or that the Manor would be worth anything to developers with a covenant dictating that it may only ever be used as an open air sports area?

OCC have much to answer for. They could have found a solution, could have redeveloped the Manor Ground and relocated the club to what could have become a community stadium for the benefit of everyone. The club would have been the major tenant and have had the Council as the Landlord. It could have been funded ( as it was by Kassam) out of the sale of the Manor and it would have been a win/win for the Club and the Council tax payers. However, the Council had no balls and no vision and handed it all to Kassam on a plate and he's been taking this p*ss out of them ever since. It's a scandal.

Right back to the Maxwell days, OCC done f*ck all to help OUFC and when we were trying to get the ground the ice rink was built on as they made sure we were pushed aside then.
It's all about the university and tourists not those nasty working class Oxonians!!

If there was a labour Council, then these things become a tad easier

It hasn't had a Tory councillor in years. The county council has been conservative for ages though.
