Yes, I know this Official Matchday thread is a day early...
This Saturday; Oxford will be playing, arguably, it's most important league fixture for the last 15-20 years! We may be witnessing (for those who will be there) history in the making, for our beloved football club. A chance to climb the league pyramid, once again?
It was four long years of pergatory, in the Conference... It will now be six years of torment, in League Two...
Will we, after 90 mins of football, grace the pastures of League One? Or will we fall at the final hurdle...? We shall soon find out.
Is it a bigger game, than the JPT Final, at Wembley? - Of course! ...a bigger game than the F.A. Cup 4th Round home tie with Swansea? - Almost certainly!! ...an even bigger game, than playing at home against the "Scum", from down the A420? 110% Yes !!
The prize that awaits is promotion. The last game of a long-long season. It also happens to be a derby game - albeit w/ Wycombe W**kers!
A team, unfortunately, bereft of playing anything like a game of entertaining football. A team wholly incapable of general fair play - whose mission in life, is using every cheap trick in the book to waste time, frustrate, and to deliver as much physical damage to our players as they can possibly get away with!!
However, I know that we, as fans, and as a team, are bigger than all that. The time has finally come to focus all of our energies and our support onto our players... our team. ...to give our boys the strength and resolve to sweep aside a side who doesn't understand the meaning of 'entertaining football'.
We need to WIN - to gain those all-important 3 points.
Nothing less than a 2 - 0 for me!
Good luck to all of us!!!
COYYS!!!

I hope it will be all done and dusted by half time. The last thing I want is a 90 minutes roller coster with our league position changing constantly as goals go in at Bristol and Accrington.

It's not early, the timing is correct. And now I'm off to Germany so I'll miss the match.

Is Arknight allowed to start this one? A lot rests on your shoulders if we don't get that win now

I really cant call this one. But am hoping superior quality and decent football will come out on top.
Dream: Wycombe get what they deserve, and get a player sent off in the 1st half and we go in 2-0 up. They have another player already booked pick up another yellow and down to 9 men, we score another 4 and party all round. Nightmare: They hack, stifle and do everything to us and nick a goal. Rovers and Accy win...

Think we'll get a draw and have to rely on results elsewhere, but that we will be ok in the end. Getting nervous now.
Imagine bagging a winner in the last 5 minutes. Would blow the roof off the stadium.

What will be, will be Besides, I have broad shoulders! LOL!!

We really need to get the place rocking tomorrow. When we do it as fans, the team respond. On the pitch, cool heads need to prevail with the Ainsworth nonsense that will happen

Very nervous. Even more so when I realised Wycombe have conceded the least number of goals away from home in League 2 - only 17 in 22 games! Very surprising. Hopefully we can put a dent in that tomorrow.

We have a manager, coaching staff, directors, club officials and players who are a credit to the club and themselves. They have got themselves to the last game of the season with their fate in their own hands. They've played some great football on the way, only occasionally dropping below the high standards they've set themselves.
As fans we have supported them up and down the country in great number and that has been rewarded with a season to remember and, I'm sure, great thanks from the club.
The team deserves our total support for 90+ minutes tomorrow, as the vast majority of our fans will do anyway.
The sun will shine, it'll be a perfect day to play football, a perfect day to watch football.
Apparently the team could hear us before the game at Carlisle when they were in the dressing room. Let's make the same noise tomorrow. Let's make so much noise that Rosie doesn't need to do his Delia Smith cheerleader impression.
A Time For Heroes... both on and off the pitch.

Can't stop thinking about it. I check the league table several times a day, and imagine every possible scenario. Can't help but think Wycombe are going to frustrate the life out of us, an early goal would be the best thing ever so that maybe they'll be forced to play football. I've agreed to meet my girlfriend straight from work at 2 o'clock because I can't bare to sit in my flat in Leeds and listen to the game on YP. I'm off for a walk instead.

Given my successful predictions for the last two games I thought I round off the season by offering up my thoughts on this one.
As it's a sell out crowd, I thought I would look at the stats to see how well we've done in previous games at home that have attracted a crowd of more than 10,000. Unfortunately this has not happened this season in the league, but on the two occasions it happened away from home we have won one and drawn one. The logical conclusion is that we will therefore lose the next time this occurs, so I'm going for Oxford 1, Wyscum 2; both of their goals coming from set pieces around our box, with the winner being scored in the 90th minute.
Accrington will draw at home with Chavenage and Rovers will draw with D&G.

Just please do it Oxford (utd)! Whatever you have to do, whether it be hair pulling, elbowing, or a cheeky finger inserted into a High Wycombe player's anus when the referee has his back turned, just please do what needs to be done to get us a win against those anti-football minnows!

Logical conclusion therefore, it's a nailed on 3 points for the Yellows tomorrow ;-) Anyway, I hope you're right about promotion!

The referee could play quite a big part.
As a rule we tend to be a pretty disciplined side. Wycombe will fly in, cheat and waste time if necessary. So let's hope that the ref is pretty firm and consistent.
Hylton in the paper quite rightly said that we have to match them in effort (one things that they won't be short of). Clearly we need to defend well against their set pieces. Of late not least against Carlisle (except for when DH saved off the line) we have improved due in no small part to Dunkley's form.
Let's hope that the crowd intimidate them and they lose their discipline. If that were to happen I wouldn't be surprised to see them down to 10 men tomorrow. In football anything can happen. The last 2 games have been high pressure games but tomorrow goes up a notch or two. I reckon that if the players are not overawed and play to their strengths we should do it. Maguire could be a key based on his recent form. His free kicks from outside the box have been closer and closer and he is due one or two of those to go in!

Something akin to that Swindon game from a few years back please minus the Oxford sending off. Two goals after about 20 minutes and then 70 minutes of partying in the stands.
It won't be that easy whatsoever though! Can imagine looking at the scores at 3.08pm and seeing Bristol Rovers 3-0 up already!

Oh god, I can't handle it any more! I feel like I've got a massive bill to pay tomorrow but only 50p in the bank. Just waiting for the bank to ring to tell me either "it's fine, we can give you 20grand have the summer off on us" or "sorry mate you've f***ed up, we'll decide what to do in a couple of weeks".
Come on Yellows give me a good summer!

As long as we don't do what Spurs did on Monday, go ahead playing the kind of decent football we've done all season, but then get dragged into an anti-football style scrap in which we will inevitably struggle and potentially throw the whole thing away. The only saving grace is that Wycombe are not in the race for the playoffs so might be less inclined to come back if we go ahead.... Let's hope the job is done by this time tomorrow!!!!!!
