I live most of the time in North Carolina--loved hearing it after the Swansea game. It's also played at the Carolina Panthers (I can also support them, can't I, as it's not real football?)...and if it's good enough for the Superb Owl winners (to be, this coming Sunday) it's even better for the mighty OUFC.

I personally enjoy it, but would be good if we could find our own iconic song to be played after games instead of a song which many other clubs use.

Yes but definitely not straight away. We didn't really have a chance to get one rendition of 'Wembley' in before it started playing. Bloody annoying!

May be bearable if people sang 'up the U's' or something
But to just oh oh oh is pathetic and embarrassing

I think the Macarena would be better. Imagine being an away supporter, seeing your team lose, and then 10,000 Oxford fans (including granddads) doing the Macerena. It would really depress the hell out of them.

I think 10,000 people singing and cheering of their own accord would be better.
Music straight after a goal or immediately after the final whistle is tin pot. There should be sufficient time before Sweèt Caroline comes on to allow fans to sing and cheer on their own.

Playing it is tinpot. Playing it while we're still singing Wenberley was shit.

it's starting to become our song this season so I wouldn't mind seeing it played before a game as like a crowd warm up song.

I quite like "Sweet Caroline" but would have preferred to have stuck with "Amarillo" because of the yellow connection.
As many people will know, at Cambridge United's Abbey Stadium they always play Billy Cotton's "I've Got a Lovely Bunch of Coconuts" after a win and have done so for years.
A few seasons ago after yet another defeat in a very bad run, I remember they played the Smiths' "Heaven Knows I'm Miserable Now" as the fans trooped out, which showed that someone had a good sense of humour.

It's a yes for me, although I would prefer it if we sang the whole thing, rather than just doooing the doo, doo, doo.

I don't think it's the lyrics that's the problem, just that the bits in between the chorus are so slow and long. Either cut it to just the chorus. Or get our own that we can sing during games like Irene, blue moon, I'm for ever blowing bubbles. That's not so boring during the verses

I don't think we should use it, because it's not in any way original to do so - and it's got no association to the club. But the lyrics are pretty straightforward! Ignoring the verses (because who sings verses anyway?), I believe it's: Hands. Touching Hands. Reaching Out. Touching Me. Touchingggggg Youuuuuuuu..... Sweet Caroline (Bom Bom Bom) Good times never seemed so good (Boston Red Sox fans would add a "So Good, So Good, So Good" here) I've been inclined (Bom Bom Bom) To believe they never would...... Some of the timing gets a bit tricky because he doesn't always sing on the beat, but seems fairly easy!?! We played it at our wedding reception, as it's my Mum's favourite song in the world ever, and we had everyone there ages 18-80 belting it out on the dancefloor from memory!

I can't believe Barry Manilow was overlooked personally, if 10,000 of us were singing Mandy after the Wall game their fans would have realised we mean business and left quietly.

We just need a random short verse from a song and turn it into our Irene .
Swindon also do it , but not as effectively with I can't help falling in love with u.
What about
There's no fight you can't fight This battle of love with me You win again So little time We do nothing but compete There's no life on earth No other could see me through You win again Some never try But if anybody can, we can And I'll be, I'll be Following you

Way back in the day, at different (and overlapping) times ...late 60s /early 70s... London Road end stanards were " When you're Smiling" and "Those Were The Days" it was invariably the chorus of both that was sung back then links to both with lyrics www.youtube.com/watch?v=v5kD7GHPdv8www.youtube.com/watch?v=3un5f6qLi_kAnd the whole point of making an old classic song your own is to NOT change the lyrics, ....otherwise only a handful, instead of almost all, will join in At Wembley ANY spontaneous atmosphere WILL get drowned out by the 'Americana approach' the stadium custodians inflict via their pa system (remember 2010)

I really don't think it matters what the song is, to a point, it's the occasion and mood of those attending that dictates. I (sort of) remember singing* along to some lousy songs, but they were enjoyable because we couldn't give a fook! There are one or two miserable bar stewards, or party poopers where ever you go, and this forum is no exception (ahem) but each to his own. *singing - Questionable.
