No idea about the cost or the logistics of building a temporary stand at the fence end for the run in, but does anyone think it would be a good idea? Nothing special, just somewhere to put the away fans.
The stadium has been filled / very nearly filled, a couple of times this season and we've got some big games to come. ie. Northampton, Wycombe.

I'd like to see it but I'd be surprised if the cost and logistics of it added up. Hopefully someone at the club is looking into it, or has already done so.

Didn't Kelvin price it up for the STFC league game the other year? I think he had an average ticket price of around £13 and decided it wasn't cost effective.
Once we get the cup games out of the way, we'll see what the league sales are like, with a few home Tuesdays coming up I think crowds will be up, but not to the extent we need a temporary stand. Still plenty of time for games like Luton and Wycombe to have the reduced 1000 away attendances.

Wasn’t it mooted some time ago as a one-off for the Swindon league game? I think KT opted against it because it made no financial sense. And if even KT thought it would lose us cash, it must’ve been a bad idea!
I think the cons outweigh the negatives at this stage and would probably exacerbate problems we have already, namely adding more people in with a number of parking spaces removed, any temporary stand would be uncovered so not exactly appealing to an away fan, delivery, construction and take down costs would have to be considered and rental time should it be kept for more than game.

Pointless as most games are far from a sell out
Lets just make do with what we have, get promoted win the euro draw and buy the ground, build a 4th stand and that's it all sorted!

It was costed up a few seasons back, it was viable (never going to make lots of money), it probably boiled down to do with 'could people be bothered to sort it out'. I remember the conversations, as OxVox were party to those discussions.

Temporary stands don't just magically appear. Tenders need to be sought and permissions granted before work can even start. I'm guessing the club wouldn't have the internal resource to project manage any scheme, so add outside consultants to the cost.

I remember the conversations, as OxVox were party to those discussions. Renting the unit and paying for putting it up for one game was about break even for one game from memory of discussions I had with KT. Getting in the fencing, turnstiles, electricity, lighting and other facilities required to get licensing, plus the actual licensing and planning approval processes meant it was virtually impossible for a single game.

Gillingham don't seem to be doing too well on replacing the away supporters temp stand.

I would think that there could be a couple of games where it could be useful to the end of the season, but other than that the ground we have will be adequate for the crowds. That is of course unless we have a big home draw in the next round of the FA Cup.

A row of double decker buses should do the trick. Add a couple in each corner ☺. New record crowd.

Thankfully we have moved significantly on from the can't do ethos to a can do ethos. Should this opportunity arise again, I suspect we have people who would look at it. Regarding my conversations, whilst it was an appealing prospect for the Swindon fixture, it would have also been used for a number of other fixtures.

Well one guy looks extremely uncomfortable with one leg over for a start. I'm assuming he's not had any kids since this photo was taken.

At some point they are going to have to decide if they want a stand or not, cant just sit on the fence

Put a load of benches behind the goal that'll do the trick

I always believed KT was never going to do the temp stand.. Just a ploy to sell the Swindon game put early and then use the money to boost the transfer fund. I must have been wrong.
