It's much better here than other grounds....Brighton have limited parking capacity and lots of people go by train. We are lucky we are not in the middle of the city otherwise there would be none

We have lots of parking but most of it is technically owned by the Ozone management (aka Kassam). There's no post match stewarding, hence the shambles today - it took me 90 mins to get out of the bloody overflow when normally I park behind the East Stand.
The absence of post-match organisation is down to a lack of cooperation by the Ozone even though surely they don't want their own customers stuck in that mess surely?
The overflow only cleared when the main car parks had emptied. An hour and a half of my life I'll never get back.......

They should designate the overflow to away fans parking and direct them all there. Then keep away fans in for 10 mins while home fans get to their motors first. This may help the flow a little?

My wife and I parked near the East Stand car park exit when we arrived at the ground today because we were using the new restaurant hospitality package and felt that would be easy to get out of the car park after the game. The restaurant and associated entertainment was excellent so we decided to stay for the Man of the Match presentation then left about an hour after the end of the game.
When we walked to the car the east stand car park was virtually empty so we were expecting to be away in seconds only to find the exit gates closed meaning we had to drive out via the road behind the North Stand and joined the queue at the corner of that stand. Surprisingly no one was driving out via the cinema corner exit so we avoided most of the queue and got out after about 15 minutes but there were big queues out of the Overflow and other West exit.
Surely with just a little bit of organisation (ie a few stewards) once the east car park cleared then traffic from the overflow and/or the west car park could be directed behind the North and out of the East exit thereby doubling the rate of traffic flow.
I spoke to Rosie last week and he asked for feedback so I will let him know about this.

It can't be good for businesses on the ozone site though, there's always people trying to get in as we're leaving. There were cars stuck in it for at least 45mins yesterday. Let alone us trying to escape!
One solution would be for the first carpark (behind the fence) to exit behind the north stand, allowing the overflow to exit more smoothly. We could also encourage fans going towards Sandford to use the overflow and fans going towards Cowley to use the first one preventing any snarl ups on the roundabout.
Feasible? Probably not but it would only take a couple of stewards.

It doesn't help when we have so many people who push in or refuse to let people go - let one in and then move is the normal unwritten rule. Would be quicker if people did it

The key is organisation. Stewards controlling traffic and parking spaces. As mentioned by another poster make the overflow at the back away fans only.
However you do need some more enthusiastic stewards. Ours in the car park literally do nothing apart from stand there.

It doesn't help that some people are incapable of parking without leaving a ten foot gap between themselves and the car they are parking next to; we could fit twice as many cars onto Grenoble Road if people parked closer. Get a steward out there waving em back if it helps.

I can't say how annoyed I feel when I see the Science Park car parks closed off with a Security Guard there.I don't know how much parking they have there but I can see an empty multi-storey from the road. If they can't be persuaded to open for free perhaps they could collect for a charity, or make money to cover their costs? Is this something Oxvox can help with?

We are looking at this and discussing possible options with the club as well as the Science Park. It's taking some time, but if everyone works together we're sure a solution can be found! There are some really good ideas to help things on this thread already, but if anyone has further suggestions, please do drop me a line. Cheers Jem

The Science Park is private property, and the businesses there will not likely want public within their property. Certainly some would perceive it as both a security and health and safety concern.
Perhaps a solution is if there is a piece of land there that is no developed that could be used. Has anyone looked at what other clubs do with local business parks? It would make it a lot easier to make a case for them opening up if club x or y do it.
I do think that between the club, OxVox and the council, more could be done to encourage locals not to drive to the ground if at all possible. It won't solve the issue, but could at least relieve it slightly on the bigger match days.

Science Park is now wholly owned by Magdalen College. I doubt there is any risk or "H&S" issues or they couldn`t use it during the week!! Charity would be the way..... get some Oxvox volunteers on the gate.... £5 a car..... 50/50 with owner.... 1,000 cars thats £2,500 for now`t each!!

It would depend on the lease that they have with each company (is sub letting ok by the terms of the lease?), and how they track access to each property. If two p*ssed up fans got in a scrap on a companies property, who is liable? Etc. I can see it being one of those things where it maybe easier not to bother. Which is a shame as the park is ideally located for the club.
Does Thames Water have any parking that can be used?

Presumably the carparks are open every other day and on a Sunday so I could drive in there next Sunday and park? And whilst there is possibly a greater chance of a punch up in the car park on a match day, this could happen any day or night. Maybe a sign that says parking is at your own risk would suffice?

Part of Grenoble Rd (at the Sandford end) is duel carriage way. Strange that the council approved a 16k stadium (as per the original plans IIRC) but didn't ensure that the road it was to be built on was sufficiantly big enough to support the likely match day traffic! It should be duel carriage way through out with one lane each way reserved for shuttle buses to Unipart, Park 'n Ride sites etc. around the city.

I think they would be open, not for the general public to go and use. I'd imagine the site will have security guards looking at the CCTV cameras and have patrols to see what people are getting up to out of normal business hours. I don't think it's as simople as saying open up the car parks, especially with individual leases for each occupier and sites that may operate on a 24/7 basis. I'm not saying it won't be done, but it's not as easy we'd all assume it is.

Peers School and the other school behind the North Stand appear to have a few hundred spaces, maybe more with the Tarmac playing areas. I've parked in school car parks at Wembley, Spurs and Villa in the past. The school PTA can collect fees and use this for the benefit of the school. The added advantage is that users will not have to use Grenoble Road for access thereby reducing stress on that access route. There are also many spaces on the industrial parks on Sandy Lane.

I spoke to Rosie last week and he asked for feedback so I will let him know about this. Came on here to mention this, but you've put it perfectly! The East Stand car park empties very quickly, usually within 15 minutes (roughly). Sometimes, despite parking at the fence end, I've driven around the back of the North Stand and straight out the empty car park behind the East (whilst others around me wait a further 30+ minutes to exit). Tried the same thing yesterday and theyd shut the gates, and even more hilariously were forcing any latecoming East Stand car parkers to exit from the Ozone car park. Simply leaving the East Stand gates open and directing half the Ozone traffic behind the North Stand (10/15 mins after the game) would clear it in no time at all. Such an easy solution. Btw Scoob, if the gates are shut, you can bump up the grass and drive into the hotel car park and straight out! Saw a police van do it and thought... ah go on then! (not advisable in a low car, though!)

Also there is 3 blue bollards just out side the quad where the bus stops are, if they were swapped for a gate, the corporate parking could exit there without having to add to the Jam out side the bowlplex, even if it was turn left only so u have to swing round at the holiday inn roundabout if u want to go back towards Sanford

I really don't understand this.
I always park at the same place near the Bird, even for big games, and never have a problem. After the game I'm on the ring road and away in minutes. I turned up yesterday at 1:45 and straight into my normal space. All people need to do is use a bit of imagination. I would never park in the overflow car park, even for a moderately attended game.
If I drive to an away match, and it's somewhere I've not been to before, I scout it out online, look at maps and head for somewhere ALWAYS on the same side of the stadium that is the way home. That way you're not caught in loads of traffic going past a stadium you've just walked out of. I'd rather walk an extra five minutes than sit in a car for 25 after the match because I was too lazy and tried to get as close as possible.
Just do your homework and it's easy.

Scoob beat me to it. Nearby school car parks is something I raised with Oxvox in the past. I think they contacted some but nothing came of it. The john Newman school in littlemore is only 10 minutes walk via the path under the railway bridge and easy drive back onto the ring road. I would've thought an easy way to raise some money as all that's needed is someone on the gate taking the money and supervising.
I use the witney bus and notice every week after the game there are people asking about bus to city centre and station. I'm amazed there isn't a bus waiting which is heading into the city. I know they go from the leys which is ok for those walking from north & east stand and know the way but it's not so good from south stand. Likewise I think there should be one going to Redbridge park & ride waiting after games too.

Oh forgot to add that the science park has been used for parking when the stadium hosted Oxford half-marathon start/finish. I remember it well as the shock and exhaustion of a much improved PB led me to forget how to get back to where my car was parked!
