OxVox would like to pass our thoughts and condolences on to the family of Brian Lomax, the founder and inspiration of the Supporters Trust movement. He passed away yesterday at the age of 67 but not before commenting on both the issues at both Leeds United and his beloved Northampton Town. Brian founded the Northampton Town Supporters Trust (NTST) in 1992 - the first ever Supporters Trust and eventually went on to found our Umbrella organisation, Supporters Direct, helping to set up hundreds of Trust movements. His work to football was recognised with an OBE award in 2009.
A statement from the Supporters Direct board said: "His pioneering approach led to the Football Task Force report in 1999 recommending the widespread establishment of supporters trusts to replicate his work. Brian's skills, experience and warmth have been at the heart of our movement, and in him, we had our truly inspirational founding father. His legacy will live on."
Our thoughts, OxVox

A sad irony that he should pass away at such a critical time for Northampton. Thoughts are with his family and friends.
