No point getting irate over the pink ox - not as if it's gravestones or memorials being vandalised. It's just a lump of bronze, easily cleaned. Unlike you, I'm actually f**king angry about this and if given the opportunity would happily punch those responsible in the face. This. I'd happily give the little shit a good throttling.

I think its very funny because normally, in the wild, Ox's aren't pink, so it's kind of playing on your expectations and stuff. As the artists themselves said, it's really challenging our niched expectations of what really makes art. Are we angry because what they did is wrong? Or are we angry because we feel insecure about the colour pink? Or are we angry because an inanimate object doesn't like changing colour? Or are we angry because we don't think the Fathers have made a good piece of PR for justice? Or are we angry because we feel like it is a direct attack on our community? So much to discuss.

I'm only angry because they didn't put a pink cowboy hat and a feather boa round it's neck. Great bit of shot-term publicity for the club, hope the new comms team use the opportunity to market the club infront of the national press...

I think the club should use this as an opportunity to have a 'Gay Day' inviting all of Oxfords gay commmunity along, and for everyone to wear pink. Gavin Archery could be choirmaster.
Or a ladies day? There are so many options to let this just work absolute magic for us.

Been covering in tarlpulin now. Out of interest, is that true? Yes, that black netting seems quite adaptable. It's a crowd divider, frost protector and now a pink bull covering.

As wet as it sounds, I thought it might be covered until it's cleaned as passing drivers rubber necking would probably end up crashing at some point.

Just following on from the original Thread, it's deffinately a Bull and not an Ox, as he's still got his bollocks! The only difference between a Bull and an Ox is that an Ox is a castrated Bull. They use to do it so they could use docile Bull's to push plough's and pull carts.

I'm finding it pretty funny but what i will find funnier is when who's responsible is caught, their car/house is painted yellow and blue!! also if it is a protest against the closure of an art gallery why wasnt the ox statue opposite the station targeted? that would of pi$$ed the council off more id guess

The oxen are draft or pulling animals, usually used for cart transportation, or to pull plows. 2. While both are part of the bovine family, the oxen are a sub-genus of the male cattle, or bull. 3. Oxen are castrated, and breeding is more controlled and selective.4. The typical ox is larger than the typical bull 5. The ox and the bull have similar, yet unique, genetic DNA codes. 6. While they maintain religious and ethnic symbolism, they are often heralded separately. So one thing we can all agree on now is that it's not an Ox.

May I suggest you read the whole article, not just parts that support your view. "With the exception of a few that are used for breeding, it is customary to castrate the ox." Such a fine specimen as this would surely have been kept, complete, for breeding. ;D

Nope, but I'm adopting the eight year old at a birthday party approach ;D
Although what I will say is that in all my time working at the club I never knew anybody who thought it was an Ox, including one gentleman who spent decades working closely with the farming industry. He did tell me once why it was a Bull, but I'd be lying if I said I could remember the exact reasons he gave.
