The answer to the question is 3....................! Reading the local Lincolshire Echo newspaper this week, the total visiting support that travelled to Cheltenham from Lincoln this Tuesday was a staggering 89 fans, Stevenage as you will remember brought the infomous 86 with them to the Kassam that time. Are we just lucky to have a tremendous away following or are we the exception, even in our darkest days, we were never that poor with our away numbers.

I wonder what is the least amount of supporters we have taken to an away game ?

Respect to the gallant 30, then.
Um, how many did we take to Barrow for the cup replay? That's the smallest I've been at.

Eleven years ago I was one of around 14 people who made a midweek trip to Gigg Lane to see us win 2-1. Jamie Cook got the winner right at the death.
We weren't always well supported on the road.

I wonder what is the least amount of supporters we have taken to an away game ? We took around 40 to a midweek game at Bury during the fuel shortage circa 1995(?). I wasn't there, but some on this forum were and can confirm .... EDIT - Oops! Sorry Ryan. Sounds like the same match. As low as 14 though?

My memory's not that great, but i'm sure i was one of only 16 or so fans who travelled to Bury for a midweek game. I remember this as we had our picture taken beside the LRC coach for the Oxford Mail.
Not sure if it's the game you're referring to though, Hoodsy.

I heard a story about a Cardiff V Carlise game on a Tuesday night when one away fan turned up. Carlisle scored first and he started goin ape, running round he empty terrace celebrating, which prompted the mass ranks of Cardiff in to singing "You're gonna get your f@cking head kicked in"

We took 70-odd to carlisle a while back, it might have been the relegation season.

Smallest I've been in was the setanta shield game at Forest Green, 120ish oxford fans of an attendance of about 300

I didn't go but not many went to Halifax for a midweek cup replay about 6 years ago. I have done quite a few of the rageonline top 20 lowest total crowds for away games. Sudbury. Fgr in the setanta shield.
Part of the reason for our good away support is we have exiles all over the country whereas no-one ever moves from their home towns in the rest of league two.

Only a handful went on the official LRC bus to Bury that night. There was around 50-100 fans there that night suporting Utd and we won with a last minute goal.

this thread is bringing back memories of some dark days!!
The mere mention of tonbridge angels and fgr setanta shield makes me laugh at how bad we were back then!
Pre-Beano we were dreadful.

I went with Mick Brown to Tunbridge. So had to go to there 'directors box' after the game. It was a portcabin.
Could hardly move in there.... Cos Nick Merry was in there too.

I went to Southport away on a Tuesday night in our first season in the Conference. Not many there, I think it was one of the lowest attendances ever to watch Oxford in the league!

i went to that Newcastle game, i remember driving down to Oxford from Lincoln on the Saturday to collect two tickets from the ticket office, the game was on the following Monday(which was a bank holiday), set off from Lincoln on the Monday morning in bright sunshine, got to Newcastle in the middle of a monsoon and the game was called off early afternoon, it was then rearranged for the following Thursday, took the afternoon off work to travel up again (alone this time) and lost 2 - 1 (Jimmy Magic scored for us) i think Andy Cole got both for Newcastle. 900 miles in less than a week, just to see the YELLOWS...... there was not many yellows there at all, and the confiscated my flag until after the game!

Huddersfield away in 1982 ish. Freezing cold, played on snow covered pitch, because it was only one of very few games on I think it was shown on Match of the Day. Not sure how many were. but very few, prob less than 20 away fans. We sat in main stand rather than stand in open end. I think Oxford was probably snowed in.

Don't take the pi$$ out of Lincoln, it's a terrible journey, 145 miles on crap roads and on a Tuesday night.
Stevenage is a doddle, 75 miles A1, M25, M40. 86 fans on a Saturday, pathetic
